Totally agree with this. This keeps the recruits that are coming from bailing right now, after they're around for for a year or two I fully expect Boeheim to leave a year or two early.
Dont see how you take Irving over Lillard. Similar players and one has been better over 2 years than the other.
Shocked Drummond made it and ecstatic for him.
Obviously have watched one shining moment many times by now...keep thinking that I cannot remember a better closing shot than Boatright at the end knowing everything he went through this year. Shabazz led this team, and DeAndre came out of his shell, but I think I was most impressed in a...
I'm glad that DD was able to show the world the type of player he can be. Hope he keeps it going and has a long career. We wouldn't have sniffed the title without his development. Go get paid DD you earned it.
Wow...that video is pretty shocking.
I do think that KO is going to be able to pull in some top recruits going forward. Getting Maker would be a nice start.
Just don't know if anyone (JC included) could have done it. JC did something pretty similar though in 2011 w/Kemba.
I'll say this about those saying that maybe JC couldn't connect anymore. I don't think that is true at all. Shabazz and Boatright made it pretty clear that they loved playing...
I used to really want sports writers to accept UConn as one of the blue blood programs but I don't really care anymore. Duke wont their first title 8 years before we won ours and they're a blueblood and we're not?
I used to hear people say it takes sustained success (we've covered that), with...
Omar is loyal as hell. You talk about the loyalty of the guys that stayed at UConn once they learned of the ban? How about the top recruit that still chose to come to UConn despite the ban...that's Omar.
I think that what has gone on with Boatright is what college basketball is supposed to be about. The young man has clearly grown as both a person and a basketball player. Good for him, I hope he enjoys this. I know I have been very impressed by his growth.
Loved Roscoe, loves his tenacity on the boards, loved that he was able to laugh about the brain fart at Texas (maybe because we won anyway).
Hated that he transferred. Take no pleasure in his lack of success out there.
That being said, given how this all turned out, I wouldn't change a thing.
Bilas has always been supportive of UConn. I get annoyed when people attack him if he happens not to pick UConn on a particular occasion. I mean he picked us in 2011 for god sakes.
"What if I told you that regional school known more for cow tipping than sports would come to rule the college basketball world? What if I told you that the best college basketball school doesnt wear candy stripe pants, sing rock chalk jayhawk, count a judd as a fan, or play on tobacco road?"
The rules draw an arbitrary line that doesnt even pretend to have any real connection with a real education. Please refer to the UNC situation. They lied about grades, but their APR is just peachy.
I never got the sense that TO caught a lot of flack. I think a lot of people were expecting him to develop more, but hey, not everyone does. He was a valuable contributor his freshman year. This year didn't play too much but it was clear even from TV that he was a great great teammate.
The choice of Ollie is pretty remarkable if you think about it. It's easy to retrospectively look at Ollie's NBA career and say that given his experience it makes perfect sense that he is a good coach.
Calhoun clearly started talking to Ollie when Sellers left and made the decision in 2010...
The fans of those teams may say we're not but honestly I read a ton of articles over the past few weeks that called us one of the blue bloods of the sport. This was before we won #4.
KU fans are just pissy that we have more titles than they do.
I guess I may have been giving him too much credit for believing that line. As the first 30 of the final minute ticked down I was SHOCKED they weren't fouling...then they ended up fouling anyway.
Here's the thing about the Syracuse board. There is a small group of them that bash UConn when they have the ammo and disappear when something like this happens. However, I think most of them over there accept that UConn has surpassed them. If they are angry, then it is almost always directed...
Cats outplayed UConn despite missing shots while UConn hit shots? Um...how do you score points in basketball? Missing shots? That is evidence of a superior team? I'm an all-american then.
re: the emotionally draining games. This is a tournament. If you don't have the juice to win a bunch...
Also, Calipari admitted that he didn't foul when there were about 56 seconds left because he believed that UConn would simply hit their free throws. I'm not sure I remember an instance where another teams foul shooting affected play calling.
