Eun Jung Lee was GREAT, why didn't I hear of her before this?

Part of it was she played before TV exposure. But when you're so good that after you beat his team for a spot in the 1985 Final Four "Leon Barmore, Louisiana Tech’s head coach at the time, told Lee after the game: “I’ll be the happiest person when you graduate. Expect my flowers at your...

    Big East Final Standings

UConn has clinched first place in the Big East. I think Villanova has the best chance of finishing second: they have 3 games remaining, against the bottom 3 of the league. Marquette is out of consideration for the NCAA. Depaul and Creigton will probably make the NCAAs/. So I think the final...

    Big 12 Overrated?

I've watched quite a few Big 12 games this season and, TBH, I'm not very impressed by any of them. IA State I think is the best balanced team, but can easily be beaten on a day when the 3 doesn't drop or they have to cope with a good interior offense. OK also has problems: they shoot really...

    Butler cancellation a blessing

I think having the extra days of practice and rest before the TN game are more useful at this point in time than playing a bad team. Playing a team that doesn't present any challenge will not improve the team and would probably lead to both mental and physical bad habits. At least the coaching...

    Big Conference games on 2/5

In the WCC on the 5th 8-0 BYU takes on 7-0 Gonzaga. I pick BYU on this one by 10. On the same day 6-0 Princeton takes on 6-0 Columbia. I'm picking Princeton by 6 in a close one.

    Boston Bullies Brink, Belibi

is the reason we will play SC in the Championship game (I am making the big assumption that we beat AZ). I don't think Stanford has anyone that can cope with Boston inside. Brink, while talented, doesn't have the strength to cope with Boston. Perhaps the best matchup overall might be Prechtel...

OU at TTU - Some Surprising conclusions re Coach Coale

Sheri Coale has (deservedly) gotten a lot of criticism due to poor program records over recent seasons. I was just watching OU at TTU and was impressed: While not ultra talented or big, I was impressed with OU. They appeared well coached, ran good stuff offensively and had good motion as a...

    Another paean to Taurasi's greatness

Among other amazing shooting exploits, she is the only WNBA player to have over 100 threes since the league moved the three point line back. Diana Taurasi set the bar for shooting in 2006, and almost reached it again 12 years later.

Strongest G5 conference for women's basketball?

The AAC is, by a pretty wide margin, the (choose your adjective: best, strongest, financially stable) of the G5 conferences. But just looking at women's basketball, I wonder if the MAC is potentially a stronger conference in terms of depth of quality women's teams. What say ye?

    Megan Gustafson article

    Is the Big 10 overrated?

I've watched quite a few of the Big 10 games, and IMHO the only two teams that look like they should be ranked in the top 25 are MD and IA (and even IA is probably in the 18-22 range). Unlike the PAC-12 where the top 5 appear to be pretty good and beating up on each other, the Big 10 top 5...

    VA Tech upcoming schedule

Interesting 2016 AAC and Dayton Recruits

I remember a few years ago when no AAC team other than UCONN had recruits rated in the ESPN top 100: this year there are four (Dorottya Nagy, wing, #34, and Enna Pehadzi, pg, #95 to USF; Kornelia Wright, pg, #81 to UCF; Natasha Mack, post, #85 to Houston). Hopefully this trend will continue...

I'm using the MacD game as a proxy (if a biased one). Stanford, Maryland, Baylor, and Louisville are bringing in the most talent for next year. So it looks as if the strong are going to remain strong. Also means UCONN will be very young next year (0 or 1 senior starting, assuming Morgan...
