He was a Jets EMPLOYEE under contract. Parcells arranged Belichick succeeding him with Jets management. Of everyone involved, the Jets has the least to do with how that was arranged and played out.

And if you think Mangini drove bad blood in his short 3 year stint there, that's nothing compared to how Belichick started the relationship resigning at the press conference announcing him as Jets head coach.

The Pats tried to hire Belichick when he was an assistant and Parcells retired to block it out of spite (later went to the Cowboys). Parcells also pulled a Randy Edsall on the Patriots.

No matter which lens you use, it drove bad blood between the teams that I don't think was so intense before.

So funny. All those Super Bowls and division titles and records upon records and the Pats "Nation" is still insecure and can't admit any fault for anything.

Bill Belichick had it in his contract he'd succeed Parcells and literally quit on a cocktail napkin at his introductory presser. And they had to sue him to get back the $1m bonus they gave him for taking the Jets HC position. But hey, if the state of your franchise has you trying to make the Jets look bad on a Jets message board thread, you do you.

Not sure if anything I wrote is from that article, as I didn't read it. While no one knows for certain, what I wrote is not only what is commonly thought, it l's been documented in multiple articles as well as the 30 for 30 doc.

Parcells was supposed to go into the front office. Belichick wanted more autonomy, did not want Parcells looking over his shoulder, had concerns with both of the perspective new owners (Johnson or Dolan), and was not allowed to officially interview with New England. Contract or not, permission is typically rubber stamped when another team requests an interview for a higher job in the NFL. The Jets denied him that opportunity.

OTOH, I have little doubt that BB and NEP negotiated through back channels throughout the episode.

OL couldn’t protect at all. Hall seems to have regressed. Rodgers was ineffectve.

Gotta wonder about Hackett…I wouldn’t be surpised if Rodgers just ignores the play call going forward.

I’m done with Saleh. We have had three C-/D performances and the overmatched Patriots game. To lose, at home to Bo Nix with -7 yds passing in the first half and 60 yds total? He just can’t coach. Can’t prep a team. Can’t adjust. They do nothing creative on either side of the ball. What a waste of the last three years.

Agreed. Use Allen on the 1 yd line to punch it in. The guy is a beast. And what is wrong with G. Wilson? He looks lost out there. Need to get him involved in the offense.
This was a game they have to win if they want to make the playoffs. The only saving grace is that the league looks wide open right now.
And trading for an solid OL would be more worthwhile than for Davante Adams.

Oh good…cadence drama. Saleh seems to try to do everything he can to avoid controversy….but he steps in it anyway.

After watching a couple Rodgers passes last week fall to the ground because recievers didn’t know where he was throwing the ball…I welcome a trade for Adams.

It should be interesting this week…because the VIkings defense has been amazing…except for the second half last week. I would guess the Jets offense learned a lot looking at the tape of that game…then again…it’s Hackett..so who knows if he learned anything…lol.

The run defense needs to step up so they can get Darnold to force the passing game.

Oh…isn’t it great to see Darnold and Smith doing well after the Jets gave up on them. It’s just a matter of time before Zach WIlson is a star in the NFL.

But…I do think the Jets find a way to win this week. VIkings aren’t sneaking up on anyone anymore. And…i think last week’s disaster will fire up the team.

We shall see.

I read an article this weekend (I'll try to find it) about how the Jets use a very low % of snaps with players in motion. Well below the NFL average. I also saw something a couple weeks ago about how coaches use motion to flush out defensive schemes.

So it makes sense that they're just easy to play right now. They way they line up is what you're gonna get. And no one is open and Rodgers isn't a miracle worker anymore.

I am not sure if you were able to read the article that I posted…i think you have to subscribe. But….that was what they are saying….Jets don’t use play action or motion because thats not what Rodgers likes. He wants to be able to read the defense…and motion and play action makes the defense change.

So basically..Hackett is calling the game that way because Rodgers likes it that way. That’s why Barnwell said Adams would really help because when Rodgers is in a tough situaion he knows where ROdgers will go with the ball.

The article made me realize this isn’t all on Hackett. Of course he could just do what he wants and ignore Rodgers…but that’s not going to happen.

Hopefully they get Adams soon…which should help.

Not sure what the hold up is on Adams. He's been dangled around since February and there's a short list of landing spots. I can't imagine the deals vary a ton from team to team and the Raiders have now lost most of their leverage because he'll never play for them again.

Had to be done. He was on thin ice for the last couple years but always had a flimsy excuse - Wilson stinks, Rodgers is hurt, etc. This year was all on him and they underperformed in every aspect of the game. That's all on him, his culture, his preparation, his leadership.

What ARE the Jets? They're not good offensively. They have holes defensively. They turn the ball over. They don't appear to really even like each other. That's all on the coach.

Home v Buffalo, at NE, at Pittsburgh and home vs Houston are the next 4. With Saleh, you're going 2-2 at BEST, maybe 1-3.

That article in the Athletic last year was pretty damning about Saleh’s leadership. And I don’t think Woody liked that. Also…woody didn’t hire Saleh…so he had no link to him.

I don’t know what this fixes anything though since it’s mid season. The offense issue is Hackett and Rodgers. That’s not changing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Douglas wasn’t in discussions with Woody about the Adam’s trade…and Woody asked if this would put them over the top and Douglas raised concerns about Saleh. Or maybe Adam’s said something about not liking the jets culture. Or…maybe Saleh told Woody that he could get Reddick to report. And Woody is just fed up with him.

For them to do this now….and it doesn’t address the offensive issues…feels odd. They are stuck with Rodgers…let’s see if Hackett goes….or maybe Ulbrich will force Rodgers to change his scheme approach. Which I don’t know how you do that mid season.

I don't think it had to be done, necessarily. As a defensive coach, Saleh didn't call for or throw an INT return for TD, nor did he call or throw the game clinching INT for Minnesota. I presume Hackett becomes interim coach, so their offensive issues remain.

I don't think it had to be done, necessarily. As a defensive coach, Saleh didn't call for or throw an INT return for TD, nor did he call or throw the game clinching INT for Minnesota. I presume Hackett becomes interim coach, so their offensive issues remain.

He's not a defensive coach. He's the head coach. He's responsible for everything and none of it was working.

To be honest? The interim coach says a couple very loud things to me.

1) It is extremely rare that an interim coach is a long term solution. The examples of an interim coach who becomes "the guy" and leads a team to years of success is very, very few and far between.
2) The people running the Jets feel that's their best shot with what they've built here.
