Hopefully they can get the GM and HC…i am hoping for Robinson and Vrabel (they did well together at Tennessee) and that would leave the QB position.
i read that there was a rift in TN between Robinson and Vrabel…so..they might not be an option to be hired together.

Which QB potentially available, regardless of coach, gives the Jets the best chance next season?
Ask me again when the new Madden ratings come out.

I hate to go for the obvious but c'mon

I think RIch Cimini of ESPN reads this board. His podcast today, he called out those fans who wanted to move on from Rodgers and now want Rodgers to come back. His belief is that Rodgers played well against average to bad defenses in perfect weather. He cautioned that his recent play might be a mirage…and wants to see him play the next 3 games against bettter defenses in cold weather. I think those comments are fair.

He also said…and I agree…that it’s much more likely Rodgers comes back if it’s an experienced head coach. A first year head coach doesn’t need that drama and baggage. But someone like Vrabel could handle the issue.

To me that’s an egomaniac trying to deal with the fact that he’s not good enough and might actually be released because a team doesn’t want him anymore.

That’s a fair point. You can’t talk about Woody’s ego without thinking about Rodgers’ ego.

Well...Rodgers has faded a bit..and Jets looks like they have given up. And…now it is coming out that Vrabel would be interested in the Patriots job if it comes open.

Sigh.

What a downright embarrassment on every single level. Gutless. Heartless. Nutless. I fk ing hate Aaron Rodgers. And I don’t want to hear about Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson or a single player on that trash defense. Good GOD this team sucks.

I agree..but what do they do about QB? Or is it at the point where we don’t care…just someone else.
He admitted he took himself out at 33-0. His body language is just awful. He clearly doesn’t want to be there.

The same day this happens..Sam Darnold is on his team’s shoulders after winning their 14th game.

Sam Darnold…who the Jets drafted ahead of Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Sam Darnold, who the Jets traded away to draft Zach WIlson.

The Jets are not a good football organization.

Rodgers is tearing his own legacy apart. The indication from this tweet is that Rodgers might improve in 2025 as a 42 year old immobile QB who can't throw and still avoids responsibility.

I honestly don’t know what other organization would want thim at this point. The Jets may be his only option. It’s probably Jets or retire.

Bills - No
Dolphins - No
Patriots - No
Ravens - No
Steelers - Can't see it
Bengals - No
Browns - Another disaster with Watson/Winston, can't see this either
Texans - No
Colts - No
Jags - No
Titans - Possible
Chiefs - No
Chargers - No
Broncos - No
Raiders - Possible
Eagles - No
Commanders - No
Cowboys - No
Giants - Possible
Vikings - No
Lions - No
Bears - No
Packers - No
Buccaneers - No
Falcons - No
Panthers - No
Saints - Possible
Rams - No
Seahawks - No
Cardinals - No
49ers - No

So, of the entire NFL, from their current starting QB position, the only teams I can see even contemplating it for a second would be Cleveland, Tennessee, Raiders, Giants or Saints. And, if they did? It's not a real step forward for their franchise, it's just a better mess than the mess they currently have.

Steelers - Not a chance.
Browns - Can't afford him. -20M for the projected 2025 cap.
Titans - Doubtful as they are currently picking 2nd and probably Ward or Sanders. Rodgers is not a mentor.
Raiders - Need a QB, but still have Gardner Minshew and Aiden O'Connell. As limited as they are, I can't see Tom Brady bringing in a known distraction, to put it mildly. Particularly if they replace the brain-trust. Wishful thinking for them to trade up with the Patriots for the privilege of over-drafting Ward or Sanders?
Giants - Apropos, but doubtful. They have no line to protect a 42 Y.O. prima donna with a repaired Achilles and possibly CTE.
Saints - Can afford him less than the Browns, being 80M over the projected 2025 cap right now.

So it's play for the Jets if they want him....go somewhere to be a backup (he'll never ever do that), retire....or sit around and wait for someone to get hurt in the preseason and latch on there.

Agree on all of this. Also, Derek Carr and Spencer Rattler are both arguably better than the current iteration of Rogers. Russell Wilson definitely is.

Wilson certainly worked out for them, but is a free agent and at his age, they need a long-term QB.

Unlike the Giants, the Steelers' legacy ownership and player personnel groups have been far more competent over the last three decades. They can re-sign Russell Wilson, draft a project, and have a larger benefit of the doubt on ability to bridge the gap than the Giants or Jets.

I am thinking the hang around and wait for an injury thing makes sense. That way he can make all his bucket list trips during training camp…and then decide to play if he likes the team’s chances that needs him. Hero in waiting.

I really still think he is the best option for the Jets if they get the right coach and GM to control him. But his comments lately lead me to believe that he wants to see what else is out there. I think he will be surprised at the lack of interest.

Maybe the Jets can trade for JJ McCarthy if the Vikings re-sign Darnold?

Hmm…who was it who said that the Jets should sign Carr instead of trading for Rodgers? Oh yeah…that was me. They would have 2 more #2 draft picks and a lot less headaches. Yes…..Carr isn’t perfect…but they wouldn’t have hired Hackett as OC and they would have been competent.

The biggest surprise for me has been how much the defense has struggled without Saleh. Ulbrich did not handle the transition well.

Does it get worse than this? Josh Allen watching the Jets march out with that dumb boom box only to eviscerate them on the field.

Rodgers was gone the second he was humiliated by the owners young kid in the locker room. I don't blame him.

Yeah. I'm not that concerned he was humiliated. I'm pretty sure I'll like the next QB better no matter who it is.

So in the latest Rich Cimini pod…

- he thinks Rodgers is gone. He pointed to Rodgers mocking Woody on MacAfee
- he thinks the Jets are interested in Vrabel…but he thinks Vrabel goes somewhere else.
- he thinks the GM will be the assistant GM in KC and head coach will be Aaron Glenn
- he thinks the dark horse candidate is assistant GM in TB and TB OC Liam Coen

I love Aaron Glenn…but I was really hoping for experience at GM and HC so they can deal with Woody. I like the idea of LIam. The Jets need a good offensive coach.
