Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

The athletic programs at Oregon State and Washington State will be degraded from P level to G level. There's no safe harbor for them. And I don't see how Calford works out for the ACC or for those programs in general. OSU and WSU's rosters will be raided by P conference schools next year. OSU will likely lose their coach and they have a major stadium overhaul to pay for. It's not pretty for them.

I think they hate being in big 10. They women have prefer status quo.

What does how much money you bring in helonthe fan experience?

TBH, all the money that is out there isn’t really going to anything valuable. A lazy river in a football complex? Is that really necessary? Is it value add?

These places have invented ways to spend and take on capex debt. Not sure it has made the sport better at all or provided superior services and experience to their athletes

John, they practically begged to get picked up immediately after USC and UCLA bolted. Word was B1G wasn't interested in delivering the death blow to the PAC.

So it begs the question who told the commssioner to turn down a 30 million dollar a year per school offer and directed him to ask for 50 million? Only someone interested in seeing the conference picked apart would think that was a good idea.

A better move for UConn also keep Army , Temple and maybe even USF all Indy also It certainly would make our AD’s job easier
As for Navy they get $4,000,000 in the AAC and still get to keep 1/2 of the Army Navy game money .
They seem thrilled with their AAC deal .

Good for the AAC to get the Army-Navy game in league. Good Army to be on the same level as Navy for the next round. Yes, Navy going indy would accomplish the same thig. When the dust settles, I think Army/Navy/Air Force in the same place would be good for all three.

AAC has abandoned divisions, along with ACC PAC MTN

Only BiG MAC SEC SUN still have divisions. I think BiG will be dumping them next year as well.

Totally agree- we need to hang onto our long term series with them if they wind up joining the AAC
 
So if Army joins for football they just never schedule Navy as a conference game? And then runs the chance of meeting in the conference championship the week before their scheduled matchup? Weird. Army joining the AAC is objectively bad for us.

It's definitely not ideal but on the positive side there are effectively only two teams that the ACC and SEC can schedule outside of September as they often do and it's UConn and UMass.

There are home and homes with Wake Forest and Missouri that UConn could replace since Army likely will back out of for example.

UConn doesn’t want the AAC. It just cant compete there and no one wants to watch those teams play football. They have three acc opponents on schedule and an SEC opponent this year, for example. That, and some low FBS non-conf games is more attractive.

The money doesn’t help UConn much, though it certainly helps .

I forget who posted it here but someone said, what's the difference between nothing and almost nothing? Nothing. That's UConn and the AAC. The money from that is neither a windfall that will prop up football or worth damaging the basketball programs for. Now if it was the Big12 and making 31 million in a few years was in play, that is a different story.

regardless of the conference - I am not thrilled with the idea of playing ECU either - we are losing scheduling opponents and flexibility and are growing increasingly isolated. UMass and UConn being the only two independents (not counting ND) is not good for the program, period.
 
I don't love losing other independents, but I don't think it is the end of the world either. I don't think conferences will stick with 9 conference games because it will hurt them in playoff selection and in scheduling flexibility.

That said, our best hope is football splitting off from other conference alignments.

The idea is the Television networks paying the big money might start demanding more conference games or more games against P4 opponents. It's also long overdue that the annual game against an FCS opponent gets eliminated due to poor ratings or at least the desire to increase ratings.

We literally are relying on the good will of other schools to schedule us and keep our football team afloat. Hopefully Army doesn't remove us from their schedule next year if they land an AAC invite, i'm sure the lobbying has already started.

At this point we should probably take a MAC football only offer if we get one.
