Wasn’t Azzi out for that game, or playing injured? And I believe we had some missing players as well. (Or at least one missing player.)

I don’t believe SC has ever beaten a “full strength” UConn team.
Azzi played in both games against SC. Azzi scored 18 points in 27 minutes against South Fla. I am assuming she was healthy enough the next game against SC.

I posted elsewhere that if both teams came into this game at full strengty, healthy, UCONN would win by 25+ points but reality is UCONN is beaten up both physically and mentally so UCONN has a "puncher's'" chance to pull one out but it will be very tough!
That's why they play the games!

What evidence are you looking at that suggests anyone is beating SC by 25 points? This post is insane lol

Nika must play and stop Zia Cooke. Lou can play the point guards, Raven and/or Fletcher. What will we do with Beal playing Lou? How do we get her open. Also, we must hold out own on the boards. Bring Amari in when Cardoso comes in. Amari and Dorka have the game of their lives in front of them. My greatest concern is that we don't have enough outside shooting to neutralize SC's board and paint power. However, time will tell. A good test for the ladies. Go Huskies
Amari can’t touch Cardosa’s skill level - it’s night and day. Cardosa would eat her up!

I imagine @RSHERMVIKES means everyone healthy, including Paige and Ice. In such a case, I also think UConn would likely win. I don't know about a blowout, but a win, because our guard play would be so much more better than SC's guards as to make up for SC's superiority in the front court.

I think if UConn’s starting 5 was not hurt/exhausted, they’d be an excellent match up for USC’s starting 5. Problem is that THEY ARE EXHAUSTED and USC goes 10 deep - and their deep is very talented.

I thought Boston was 6’5” and Edwards 6’3”. Not close to half a foot. Am I wrong in my assumption?
Not at all. I'm with you on this one. It's actually pretty funny how Amihere is apparently anywhere from 6'5" to 6'9" these days according to some posters (I'm kidding). SC is a great team, but we don't have to pretend they're giants. These heights are all over the place. We've seen Aaliyah play Aliyah and the height difference looks to be about 2". The only one who is unusually tall is Cardoso at 6'7".

SC is tall, but the folks they bring off the bench other than Cardoso top out at about 6'2' or 6'3". Their starting lineup tends to be not any taller than ours --
Boston at 6'5" Saxton at 6'2" Beal at 6'1" and Cooke and Fletcher at 5'9" each, compared to
Dorka at 6'5" Aaliyah at 6'3" Aubrey at 6'1' Lou at 6'1" and Nika who's listed at 5'10" (but claims to be 5'11").

They will bring in Cardoso Feagin Amihere Watkins and be a bit taller across the frontline. It's a slower group but still has decent quickness. We can bring in Amari at 6'5" (or maybe a little taller) Ayanna at 6'2" and Inês at 5'9" -- and that's all we got, and this is a slower group for us, too.

If the refs visit the sideline monitor as much as they did in the GA vs LSU game...fatigue won't come into play. These refs are really starting to ruin my basketball high. Their names shouldn't be mentioned more than the players.

I swear Azzi was struggling with an injury or something for that Nov game last year but maybe I’m losing my mind :oops:

Edit: oops, just saw the post by @HuskyNan. Guess I’m okay (for now)! :D

LSU must have some tired shooting arms. They went to the foul line 45 times (not a typo) against Ga.

She was coming off the court limping against Stanford. One good game doesn’t mean she’s 100%. Just because her 80% is great doesn’t mean it’s not still 80%

I watched it too. Newsflash: athletic competitions have a tempo, or momentum. Refs must be given the ability to make these calls on the floor as they see them. Even coaches in practice use clocks in order to maintain pace and tempo. Not to mention Xtra time out opportunities in the games for coaches. They're bastardizing the sport.

In this game we can only control what we can control and control our own destiny. We cant control the refs. We cant control the refs. We cant control the refs. OK They will call the game the way they want to and from what we've seen this year it will be physical. Foul trouble will not hurt SC as much as will hurt UConn so we must not get in foul trouble. This game is not about what SC does or the refs do its about what UConn can has to do to win.

So what do we have to do to win and can we do it. We have to be mentally and physically in the game. If were tired or exhausted that creates a problem for us and we have to play through it. We have to find a way to score down low and rebound. The last time we played SC we didnt have Dorka or Aubrey who both rebound well. They will have to rebound very well against SC. Aaliyah is a much better player this year too. We should be able to make the rebounding much closer then last season and we have to. We have to get Lou open and Nika and Aubrey have to score because we dont have Paige Azzi and Caroline on the floor. We have to limit TO's These are things we can control.

Over the past few games we have seen opponents pack it in and focus their defense on Lou. Expect something similar from SC. Geno needs a game plan to off set that. The advantage for UConn getting SC in foul trouble is not that players will have to sit because SC has so much depth the advantage will be is UConn will get to the line and score.

This is a very tall task in some fans mind for UConn. Im my mind we have the height, we are shooting at a very high percentage this season and we have the coach who will come up with the game plan. We need to play with patience confidence energy and execution and we should be fine. Hey we've been overcoming alot the past 12 months. This is just one more obstacle we have to overcome, and this one wont be easy but it is do-able

SC second group is faster and more athletic than the first group.
