The loss is on Mora. He started the wrong QB out of NIL loyalty, and babied him because of the concussion. It’s obvious we now have a running QB who they aren’t going to run. And his throws were off.

But would you really want an ACC invite over the B12 at this point or even the BIG... not saying any invite is forthcoming but I really do NOT care to join the ACC like I once did. That conference as a whole and its schools acting independently do NOT help support our College Football aspirations - so either blaze your own trail or - keep knocking on the door to the club with the bouncer joking to the members inside... hey hahaha look who showed up again. Simply don't show up - ignore them, let them play with their ball, and let them compare themselves to the Bigger P2 conferences and see what happens. Cause 50% of them are not getting in. Imagine Syracuse regulated to non-P2 status. OR even Miami. Imagine BC whining because their big pay days are behind them. Well, I don't care because I put UCONN above all of them no matter who we play or what our conference is! I Simply PUT UCONN FIRST!
I’d be happy with either. As long as Yormark is commissioner, Big 12 appears to be far more proactive.

Evers played as well as Joe did two weeks ago and did it against better competition. The QB play is what it is, there's not much separating the two at the moment. However, Evers has the higher ceiling and so he's the one the coaches have decided to roll with.

He did not. He didn't even do what you guys said he did well.

The loss is on Mora and Sammis.

Sammis didn't even know what down it was on 3rd and 1. He listened to the stadium announcer and not the sticks. Botched..

A false start on 4th and 3 after a lengthy time out? That's brutal coaching.

The bad call on 4th and 8 should have never happened.

Absolutely mismanaged.

Lots of whining about the refs but we played an awful game on offense and didn't deserve to win.

Our ceiling is capped with Evers as the QB going forward. Its just too hard to put up points when you can't hit big plays downfield. You're forced to execute long drives and have very little margin for error.

Not saying Evers was the reason we lost, he made some nice throws in 4Q, but maybe we're good enough to beat the dregs of fbs but that's about it.

.-.
Evers did run a couple of times for a few yards but he seemed like he was seeing ghosts. Very tentative. He ran like he was sure he was going to get hurt.

Not sure why they waited until the end of the fourth quarter to open up the passing game. Also not sure why we don’t use the TE’s more. We have a couple of good ones.

Not a single holding call does make you wonder. I feel like that has happened to us before.

I think our O line is a little over hyped. I know there were injuries but that’s two weeks in a row they couldn’t make holes big enough to run through.

A little disappointing but it’s nice to be competitive again. 2 of our 3 losses were winnable games. Sucks they didn’t win but last year most of the games were over in the first quarter. Some people don’t think we should accept that. Baby steps.

I saw several Wake Forest fans on their message board acknowledge that was obvously a PI Call to everyone watching.
We may have read the same boards, and I'll add that in addition to WF fans admitting we for hosed on that non call for the PI, they also agreed we got hosed on a bad spot when the refs didn't give us the first down. Reddit posts also were in line with that. I hate how things ended as we had a real shot at 5-2.

Disappointed with the finish and how it ended. ACC refs have been doing this to us for decades, they cheat, conference post season money depends on winning. I remember a weak / bogus back side holding call vs UNC giving UNC a safety, the ball and ending the game back 10-15 years ago

I am happy we competed. I'm not a moral victory guy, but they're competing and that's progress.

But I want to talk about attendance. I saw more cars parked than I did people in the stands. Into the first quarter, seats were still empty and I could see a line of cars still waiting to park. It's obvious people just stay outside and tailgate. I guess this tradition started during our dark ages, but it's time to come inside and make some noise. The only section more than scarcely filled was the student section and maybe where the WF fans were sitting. So I can't blame the students

We need fans in their seats

On Evers and OLine performance....

Going forward I would think every DC game plans on making Evers beats you with his running.

Defenses are already selling out to prevent the outside zone run.

UConn players wasted a bunch of yardage yesterday where Sammis drew up good plays. But if UConn's players can't execute those plays, technically they're not good plays.

My son got mad at me because I quoted a WF Fan - guess that’s taboo in our house.

WF Fan said “Well once they figured out they couldn’t run in 1st half, why didn’t they put Fagnano in the game? He’s obviously the better passer.”

Also let’s face it Evers had some bad throws and could have been 4 INTs.

Evers was also coming back after 2 concussions. No reason not to give Fagnano some reps. yesterday, Sr. Leadership could have gone a long way.

.-.
Can’t put yourself in a position to have it come down to one call. But I am proud of how we fought back. We have a path to 8-4, at the very least 7-5.

Evers took awhile to get going, he made some bad throws, and the WRs had about 5 drops. But the 2H comeback showcased some great passes.

Defense dug in late too. Kept us in the game and gave us a shot to win.

Kicking game was good today.

Dave Benedict needs to stop treating this program like a joke.

Write and agree to fair contracts, ones that include us bringing our own refs for home games. Stop trying to save a buck. It all matters.

It’s not the loss, it was the way we lost. The refs decided when the game ended not the players. They tried to end the game on the bad spot. When that failed, they did not call a penalty. I firmly believe it was intentional.
Stinger, the fact they didn;t huddle up…. No calls from the ACC office on this one…..

2 calls in a row on last drive?

This was as obvious as it gets. Worst part is we were at home.

For all of us people not part of an underrepresented population, I can only imagine that this is what discrimination feels like when it happens.

No one to complain to and no one interested in resolving a wrong that happened - just take it.

This game was like being kicked in the stomach today.

I thought the lower bowl was good at start of game. My section 122 was full. ESPN had attendance at 30K. It was great weather for football and tailgating.

On a side note, while I have lots of issues with ACC over the years, No issues w/ their football fans. That Wake board is suprisingly reasonable.

We are almost a perfect fit in that league for football.

We’ve played 2 ACC teams - I would make the argument both on the road :) - and a total of 8 points separates us. UConn had chance to win in both games.

It feels like a perfect fit.

But my angst goes back many years with ACC and BC but for football, hand meet glove IMO.

That 3 and 1 call and then not going for it on 4th and 1 sealed the game. Did not like that decision. Also, seemed like the spot they gave us was bad again
Spot was bad. Needed to go for it.

After the point and defense holding to force WF

.-.
I don't blame Wake Forest for the way the game ended. After all, if the ACC destructs, WF could be homeless unless their record improves. If the ACC survives and UConn is a member, Wake could be a fun rivalry for UConn.

Does Evers have what it takes to be the on-field brain of the offense? I think no.
I believe Evers was tentative becuase he did not want to get concussed again and end his season/career. That being said, can't blame him, but at the same time, can't have a QB like that either. I was hoping after the slow start the Mora would have given Fagnano a chance, but it wasn't to be. Loss on Mora this time.

Mora not holding anything back on the refs in his press conference.
Can someone post a link to it? I've looked on UConn+, on YouTube, and just googled it and I can't find it. That was such a frustrating finish. It would be somewhat satisfying to see Mora ream them out on it.
