Thanks. Wasn't coming up on the sortables.

Not surprisingly, crappy league has a crappy website. The stats you were looking at were for the full season for some players, 4 games for other players, etc.

I'm sorry but this is flat-out absurd:

“The main reason was it wasn’t the right fit for Vance to display his full skills. “It was more of a guard offense where the guards dominate the ball, and you kind of get it at the last minute. If you get it, take a shot or whatever. It was kind of dominated by the guards.

“I had conversations with the coach, I was just wondering if there was a way we could utilize him more to help the team. His skill level, there’s a lot of stuff he can do, and we weren’t on the same page with it. I’m must replying what Vance wants to do. A lot of people think it’s me, me, Vance is telling me what he wants to do and I was just trying to [explain] it to the coach. We know what he’s capable of. You got a smaller person on him, you can post him up. You got a bigger person on him, you can take him off the dribble. We want to be able to utilize the skill level to help us win. That’s it.”

First of all, you're a parent, not the coach. . Second, good players get the ball. I know it was forever ago, but we once had another kid from California who was a 6'7" forward who handled the ball all the time.

Like I said earlier, I'm so happy not to read any more comments from this LaVar Ball Wannabe.

UConn Shakeup Continues: Huskies Add Raphael Chillious, Lose Vance Jackson | Zagsblog

This is bad. The second guy at a different position who left, saying "UConn doesn't let anyone besides its guards do anything on offense".

If this gets out into recruiting circles and becomes our reputation, we're not going to be able to land a top 100 guy taller than 6'3.

God forbid the rest of the country learned that UConn was a guard-oriented system.

And isn't the excuse of every kid who transfers out of here for basketball-related reasons?

I don't care why Jackson is transferring.

He played great minutes for a freshman and made the all-conference rookie team. If for some reason he feels deserves to be the top option on a team with Jalen Adams and Rodney Purvis...good luck in your future endeavors.

He got a great opportunity here and largely made the most of it. If that's not enough, I'm not going to spend any time wondering about his reasoning.

Not worried about this one. They can literally show the absurd usage rate of Daniel Hamilton to dispel this narrative.

Nah.

Like I alluded to, LAST YEAR we had a 6'7" forward as our primary offense instigator.

You're reading too much into this. Enoch left because he didn't develop properly; whatever the reason, it sure wasn't because the offense didn't flow through him enough.

And this is just whining. Vance had plenty of opportunities as a freshman, and would've had ample opportunity going forward to impress NBA scouts if he has NBA talent.

Sounds like a selfish player to me. He had so many open shots he passed up on. Wondering why after reading all this. I think all the players tweets were directed at him. He and dadda sound like a cancer.

VJ's transfer makes no sense since he would have been a key contributor next year. KO loved that he had a little inside game to go with his outside game and would have been a perfect 4 in this system. Now SE just didn't want to commit to playing defense. No big loss there.

think how much the rest of the semester must suck? You already know you're out the door and you quit on what was likely your base group of friends.

God forbid the rest of the country learned that UConn was a guard-oriented system.

There's a difference between having a reputation as a guard-oriented offense and "unless you handle the ball, don't bother".

Those who are leaving -- or not coming in the first place -- are starting to imply the latter.

they can imply whatever they'd like, but then just point to the tape of last year with Hamilton and Miller. They were both the primary options.

I think you are being way too quick to jump to conclusions on what long-term affects the comments of two individuals will have on our recruiting.

"If this gets out into recruiting circles and becomes our reputation, we're not going to be able to land a top 100 guy taller than 6'3." is just straight hyperbole.

Exactly.

No one's listening to Steve Enoch and everyone in the sport knows 25 parents like Mr. Jackson.

No one cares.

Based on the Twitters I'm wondering if Vance was maybe not the most well liked guy in the locker room
I was trying to sleuth but I'm the only millenial who doesn't understand twitter. Was there anything specific or just vague eye rolls?

This is where Geno's quote the other day was spot on as it Frank Martin's - parents let your damn kid be coached and deal with adversity - it's beyond absurd. If you only knew a 1/10 of what i hear from coaches - it's lunacy.

OK, pure speculation on my part

1) wants to be closer to home
2) wants some sort of guarantee on playing time
3) doesn't like somebody
4) some combination thereof

I thought he was going to be a key player going forward, but I believe somebody else will fill that void

We've lost much bigger names over the years, I'm not concerned, just life being life

I was upset at first, but in reality, there was nothing more UCONN could do for him. He didn't want to be here, he wants to be the guy, blah blah. Maybe he can find what he's looking for.

Jackson and Enoch are both dead to me. Time to move on and past this disastrous season.

If Mike Noyes leaves I'm done.

I know they're supposedly going to do it, but if they don't fix the ceiling tiles in Gampel pretty goshdarn soon I'm done. It's embarrassing having to tell people you went to school there when every time they turn on a game from Gampel the players are getting bombarded by pieces of ceiling tiles from the roof.

I can't believe I read the whole thread ... after a lot of hysteria earlier today it looks like the sensible people finally got out of work and were able to add some sanity.

Vance was a nice piece ... if he was willing to develop his weaknesses and subordinate himself to the team. If he wants the team to subordinate its interests to his own play, then he should find a mid-major or low D1 team that will feature him.

Vance, had he the right mindset, could have been another Deandre Daniels for us. He would have been an excellent stretch 4 who could hit 3's all game getting free from the opponent's PF; pass well to perimeter shooters or other big men; and if he dedicated himself in the weight room he could have defended PFs.

If he doesn't have the right mindset, we're better off without him. A Vance with a bad attitude is not going to beat out Jalen, Alterique, MAL, or Larrier for time on the wing. If he doesn't want to play inside, he's not going to beat Juwan Durham and whoever else we recruit for time at the 4.

Let's hope this was the last departure. If so, the open scholarship may be worth more to the team than Vance. There are a lot of great players in 2018, some great Washington decommits in 2017, and we didn't have many scholarships. Now we do.
