And those "percentages" won how many games for the Huskies this year?

While you're trying to cobble together some kind of analytic response, I'll let my eyes tell me what's up. They haven't failed me yet.
Well Walker11. It's time to explain yourself. What are these so called "percentages" you speak of? You will not confuse my eyes with your fancy math.

Players jumping ship does not sit well with me, especially a player of VJ's caliber. That being said, I still question KO's ability to develop talent. If he stayed, there's no guarantee he would get any better.

Those that have stayed , never improved a great deal (Brimah, Purvis). Add that to the long list of players who transfer out/NBA draft right away (T.Sam, Hamilton, Lubin, Cassell JR, VJ, Enoch). That's what I'm worried about. We can't get a team to stay together. JC used to develop talent and get guys to stay a few years. We have a new team every stinkin year now under KO

As far as Rodney's "love" tweets I remember he and Vance had a few disagreements coming off the court, Rodney seemed unhappy with his effort and not listening. Also said to my brother numerous times when KO would get into VJ a little it was going in one ear and out the other. He wanted his points to make dad happy but there wasn't a ton of effort on the other end.

Rodney was having a tough year especially early on making shots and trying to dribble through guys. Man I was on him in the chatroom. But despite that you couldn't question his loyalty or his effort. Maybe some young guys got the wrong idea about that.

Its funny because I probably err on the luddite side of the analytical debate but this guy is just on a trip.

I'm not sure if you know how shooting percentage works, but it's a percentage of 3 point shots you make overall, in every minute played a guy is on the court. It's not just the shots where we really could have used a basket (he hit plenty of those, by the way). Even Shabazz and Kemba missed plenty in hot spots, and they're like deities on here.

Vance was the most accurate shooter in the AAC. that's just the reality. "Best" shooter is debatable, because of limited attempts. But he was FACTUALLY the most accurate shooter in the AAC.

He will be missed, and I wish him nothing but the best. He's not badmouthing the university, even his father is just saying he wants a different playing style. No big deal.

We will replace him.

I'm on the AAC website right now and he's not in the top 10 in any 3 point or even FG% category - full season or in-conference-only. Am I missing something, here?

He's in the high 20's/low 30's in almost everything.

I have a poster I got from the second preseason game. With every player on it - obviously inclusive of those who just announced their departure. I plan to frame it this offseason at some point, and look at it when we win our next championship with admiration of how spoiled we are as a fanbase and to remind me of how the tough times come and go. This too shall pass.
I actually got a black Sharpie and X'd out a bunch of guys from the poster.

Boneyarder 1: "We need to recruit guys with higher basketball IQ, rather than athletic guys who were soccer players until three years ago. "

Boneyarder 2: "Agree. And we need to recruit some big guys that can shoot."

Boneyarder 1: "Hey, did you hear Vance is transferring?

Boneyarder 2: "Yeah, no big loss. He wasn't athletic enough and airballed that one shot vs SMU."

Boneyarder 1: "Agree. He sucks. His style of play doesn't fit what we're trying to do here."
He shot the ball from his chest. He can take that breast stroke back to poppa.

He shot 48% in conference. Highest percentage during conference games.

I will say living out here in Southern California for a bit now, endorsed by others who have spent significant time here, that being fake, nice-to-your-face, and passive-aggressiveness seem to be fairly classic/common personality/behavior traits out here. Not saying that that necessarily describes Vance, and I can't blame him for disliking CT

The biggest disappointment in all this is all these kids, UConn and elsewhere, not honoring what it means to "commit" to something. I get that Vance wants to do his thing and has a pro future to hone, and that he may feel he may have a better opportunity elsewhere; but damn kid, is UConn really that unbearable?

It is if you hate ice, snow and winter weather. Attending UCONN is why I've lived in the tropics ever since.

The statement doesn't really say why he is leaving. Any other info?
Because we're a dying program unable to compete in a crap conference in a dying state that has no hope for the future? It's pretty obvious why these kids would want to transfer.

I'm sorry but this is flat-out absurd:

“The main reason was it wasn’t the right fit for Vance to display his full skills. “It was more of a guard offense where the guards dominate the ball, and you kind of get it at the last minute. If you get it, take a shot or whatever. It was kind of dominated by the guards.

“I had conversations with the coach, I was just wondering if there was a way we could utilize him more to help the team. His skill level, there’s a lot of stuff he can do, and we weren’t on the same page with it. I’m must replying what Vance wants to do. A lot of people think it’s me, me, Vance is telling me what he wants to do and I was just trying to [explain] it to the coach. We know what he’s capable of. You got a smaller person on him, you can post him up. You got a bigger person on him, you can take him off the dribble. We want to be able to utilize the skill level to help us win. That’s it.”

First of all, you're a parent, not the coach. STFU. Second, good players get the ball. I know it was forever ago, but we once had another kid from California who was a 6'7" forward who handled the ball all the time.

Like I said earlier, I'm so happy not to read any more comments from this LaVar Ball Wannabe.

Vance was a very good catch and shoot shooter, he wasn't great at getting it off the dribble. Not a good handle or quick defender. He had plenty of potential to help us and this hurts, no way to sugarcoat this. Those who say we'll be better without him are not facing it. We will get someone who wants to be here.

Maybe we're better off without him. Hopefully we can just get another SF on the roster that can come in and contribute some minutes

Translation: "I want Vance to be a chucker that shoots 20 times a game." No other explanation makes sense.

I'm just not a quitter by nature so it's hard for me to see his POV.

I like Vance the player. But it's clear to me that his father was in his ear, and that was going to be a continuing pain in the you-know-what for KO (and us).

Exactly what I was wondering, based on the timing. With Miller out they felt they lost his best advocate on the staff. Makes sense.

I don't buy it at all.

Poppy is making it sound like he was just "sticking up" for Vance as if Vance couldn't go to KO and discuss his concerns himself. Otherwise, poppy wouldn't feel any need to make anything public or "explain" anything to KO.

So either he's BSing like crazy, or Vance somehow didn't feel comfortable talking to KO about his usage. Either way, that kind of dynamic was doomed to fail.

This is entirely my point. Everyone searching for 'reasons' - who the duck cares? It was about not getting to be the star. Classic case of addition by subtraction. I'm just done with this stuff.

Ditch this riff raff and add Chillious. Great day for the program, in my book.
