IMO Oregon missed a great opportunity yesterday. They should have scheduled to play UConn instead of Oklahoma. The attendance was 6.2K. If they played UConn they could have opened up the Upper Bowl and probably sell out the game, especially if it didn't conflict with the football game. Students could have attended the basketball game and then gone on to the football game. Who knows an Oregon vs UConn matchup might have been on National TV.
One would wonder why no one in their marketing department didn't think of that possibility. On the other hand, maybe they did, but the head nixed that idea. The head coach does have the final say in who they schedule for their pre-conference portion of their schedule.
It's always possible that their head coach (Kelly Graves) was more concerned about taking a possible blowout loss to UConn (and starting out the season on a very sour note, ala Stanford 0-2) rather than absorb a small turnout at the gate. They followed
Ohio State's lead (switched UConn for Louisville as their opponent in their "Countdown to Columbus" showcase), and took the path of least resistance.
