The only two things I liked about the Fox telecast were Holly Sonders interviewing players, even though she's not very good at it. I also thought placing a mic inside the cups was a brilliant new idea, where you could hear the player''s thoughts and reactions, while putting. It was cool to here a couple of beeps, by the frustrated golfers.

I've played several links courses in Ireland, love them, links style courses are my favorite to play. They may seem bland on TV, but I think they have more character than parkland couses, albeit often more subtle.

Yeah, the Fox coverage has been sub par, but it has gotten marginally better as the days have gone on.

Looking forward to PGA at Whistling Straights too, another unique and interesting course for a tournament. Would love to see a tournament at t one of the Bandon Dunes courses.

I don't recall who said it, but a great quote I heard earlier in the year was, "This year's majors rotation has the Masters and three British Opens."

I cannot get used to seeing Curt Menafee doing golf. And I can do without more Buck.

I remember first day I was at St. Andrews a few years ago. It was raining and nobody was out on any course other than the Old Course. So I played Eden w/o a caddy, ended up getting lost and playing a few holes on Strathtyrum. Had no idea where one started and other ended... all looked the same. Even playing the Old Course the next day when it was clear, had to have a caddy to figure out what direction to hit in and which fairway I supposed to be on - and which hole on the double greens I was supposed to play. It was a very different type of golf.

Gotta love the caddies there though. I remember one hole when I was well into playing a crappy round and had about 15o yards into a mild wind. I asked the caddy for my seven, he hands me a five. I say to him, "I usually hit the seven 160-165 yards." And he laconicly replies, "Not today you're not, laddie."

Read the article in Golf Digest with his old caddie Stevie and maybe he's not half as bad as some think. But there are Tiger haters and most were there well before he cheated on his wife.
I didn't know anybody who didn't like Eldrick before his wife gave him the iron. He was about as universally loved as an athlete can be. I certainly loved watching him play.
I don't need to read any articles. Guy was cheating on his girlfriend with skanky p0rn actresses before they got engaged, while they were engaged, and after they were married. I wouldn't want to associate or be friends with a man or a woman who did that. It's a scum thing to do. I could forgive anybody for a moment of weakness. That's just being human. What this guy did to his wife was awful, and he's a POS for having done it.

Congrats for your perfection. Guessing Tiger is the only one to have done anything like that

You argue like my crazy ex GF.
What perfection? What are you talking about? Is your complete spectrum perfection/sexfiendcheating scumbag, with nothing in between? This is the "go to the extreme" crazy chick argument technique. You say, "hey babe, I wish you wouldn't park the car in front of the garage door," and her response is, "so you're saying I'm a moron and the worst driver? And you're perfect." Um. No Mau.
And what does other people doing the same scummy thing have to do with anything? Here's the crazy chick response - "Hey babe, I really wish you wouldn't get loaded and start grabbing guy's crotches at parties." What? What? You think I'm the only one doing that. Um. No Mau.
You see, the fact that I'm not perfect has nothing to do with how scummy Eldrick is. And the fact that there are other people as scummy as him doesn't make him less scummy, it just makes him not alone.
Either way, I'd never want to be friends with a man who would treat his GF/fiancee/Wife/Kids so horribly. He's a POS, and his downfall couldn't have happened to a bigger jerk.

.-.
I love links style courses, and don't mind the U.S Open using them. Chambers Bay, though, doesn't look natural to me, and the natural look and the natural look and feel is one if the appeals of links courses. Chambers Bay was manufactured, and it looks like it.

Should be saved for conference realignment but Fox can't cover this correctly. 3 shots behind on Grace. Speith teeing off while they show a mountain. Straight up black for 2 seconds.

Sorry your girlfriend/wife is such a pain in the arse.

The USGA should be ashamed for
granting Fox the television rights.

Amature hour.

Oh you had audio of a ball going in the cup on tape from 90 seconds ago - congrats.

Its not that bad..

As if Fox wasn't horrible enough all tourney they completely ignored the guy who ended up tied for the lead on an all time back 9.

It's nice to see a US Open where players have a chance to make shots to win it. This has been very compelling golf for the past three hours. Fox's rating are gonna be huge.

.-.
Still, a chance to win the US Open with a very makeable putt and he winds up 3 putting. Would almost be like missing two ft's to win the title.

DJ choked again in a major. He should of hit the eagle putt on the toe of the putter and try to let the ball die in the hole. Maybe he should try another putter next tournament, great win by Speith ,with a clutch second shot on 18.

What a great 4th round.
Kudos to Speith - that dude is a cold blooded killer. His 2nd on 18 is one of the greatest clutch shots I have ever seen. His put on 16 was also hugely clutch. Guy has got "it," and stands to be one of the greatest of all time. You just can't teach/learn this kind of clutch. Really looking forward to the next major.
Hey. Every Gallant needs a Goofus. Poor DJ - that dude just earned the "Greg Norman" award for choking the crap out of his tourni. Reinforced the notion that you drive for show and putt for dough.
Love the way P. Gretzky was playing with her shirt, obviously wondering if she was showing too much , as her mind-blown choker husband was taking a walk of shame not even surpassed by Cersie's recent nude jaunt.
Great run by Louis - phenomenal. Was hoping he'd get into a playoff.
Really was intrigued by the Fox coverage. There was a lot of crap, sure, and they had way too much focus on only a few guys when there was 12 to play, but overall, I like the different feel. Much better than the same-ol boring crap you usually see. Worst no call was when Spieth hit the put on 16. That was huge, and not one announcer immediately said anything reflecting how huge it was.

Day missed from almost the same distance two minutes earlier. That green must be brutal. Poa Anna strikes again.
Then again, I've never seen as many pinball greens as this week.
Anyway, DJ didn't seem too broken up about it. He still gets a big check. And more notoriety as the #1 TBPTNWAM.

No. Guy is 169th on the tour from inside of 6'. He's 126th from inside of 5 feet and 76th from 10 to 15 feet.
Would be like a 60% free throw shooter missing two - not likely, but not lotto level. The guy has a track record of not finishing. He's not a good putter. This had "definitely will miss the 1st" and "might miss the second" written all over it. You gotta figure on the 1st putt that he was just trying to leave himself a can't-miss on the 2nd. Classic.

The ball just wasn't rolling like a golf ball on the shorter putts - happened to Spieth on 17.

I do feel bad for Johnson.

There is nothing worse than being alone with your thoughts flying back to the mansion on the G5.

You probably don't even realize that you're using the $1,000,000 second-place check as a coaster.

Pinball greens? Wait til next year when it's at Oakmont. They will be impeccably manicured and as fast and slick as you can imagine. Players will be begging for greens as forgiving and manageable as they had this week.

With the number of putts he missed having a chance to win was incredible.

In case you were wondering if the USGA likes Speith... his mild complaints gave him what he wanted on 18.
