Mizzou - South Carolina

Geno is hysterical about it, though. When you see pictures of the UConn player with towels over their faces it's because they're trying not to fall on the floor laughing.

I don't know where the Dawn-hating comes from. UConn fans don't usually ridicule friends of Geno's.

I find her game day demeanor to be downright intimidating but I met her along with my daughter during the USA Olympic Team Tour at MSG and she was actually quite charming and friendly.................

Where are you getting this from? I've sat behind the bench - he swears all the time.

One of his favorites to officials: "What the [expletive] was that?" A couple of years ago during a game he asked Bob Trammel about another official who made a call he didn't like: "Who the [expletive] is this guy?"

Nan I don't hate Dawn, I just get tired of her thinking that if you are a star you should get different treatment. Those 3 fouls that I saw she complained about them and they were legit calls. She complained last year after they lost to Mizzou for the same reason. The only team that has complained about Mizzou's physical play has been SC.

Didn't he famously swear at the official at the Rutgers Cappie-gate game? That was some breath-taking, world-class expletives there.

He asked Dennis Demayo to tell Matee Ajavon to shut the hell up. Pretty tame, actually.

Speaking of, CViv's language can be quite colorful as well.

Go back and look with an unbiased eye and a lot of what was going on was horrible officiating. Look Mizzou got the win, but they play dirty to compensate. Ask any other SEC school and the opinion of how they play is that it is very dirty. The fact that these were the same officials that called last year's Mizzou upset of South Carolina is strange in the least. Lest they will come to Carolina on Jan 28, and I don't thing we will be our normal congenial selves. Well that is basketball, but just wish women's officiating could be upgraded around the country.

Not sure what game you watched.

SC fans say their team plays "physical." But says Mizzou plays "dirty?" LOL.

Plenty of fouls -- and a lot that weren't called. Watch the video and tell me which of Wilson's five fouls were bad calls.

SC got out-coached and out-played on national TV. Deal with it.

If the rest of the team allows Wilson to be double and triple teamed like she was today, they're going to lose a few more.

Is Mizzou a better team overall than SC? Probably not.

But they were today. Refs or no refs.

Dawn's Press Conference: Don't know if its complete.

I never understood the "protect the star players" whining. You know.. the "we came to see them play." Simple response is, "THEN DON'T FOUL." OR, every coach gets to select their "star player" of the game and they get six fouls. :)

Geno does not swear at the refs like Dawn does, he mostly swears at the team when they aren't listening to him or playing the way HE thinks they should. And it's HIS candy for you information.

You are RIGHT GENO DOES NOT SWEAR! During a game he gets so involved mentally--it becomes a religious moment and he being "speaking in tongues"====were you at the game when he walked on water?? (I don't know who spilled it)

The obvious other side is: There are fouls and there are FOULs. If all fouls were called the players would never leave the foul line. When determining whether YOUR player or the opponent fouled---it really depend whether it is you horse that was gored. When your team is not playing in that game it is a bit easier to be objective.

Watching the game (And not the entire game at that) I'd say Wilson did get 6 fouls and probably more.

Whether the foul calls on Wilson were legitimate or not, Dawn really doesn’t do herself or her team any good by overreacting to the officiating. She would do far better by giving credit to Mizzou and acknowledging that she and her team have to do a better job in the future.

Geno often says fouling is a sign of immaturity. If you're a senior and likely winner of all of the player of the year awards, you should be mature enough not to foul out of a game. I would think that's the appropriate message to your star player.

That's why I can't stand her, she has the most vulgar mouth of any WBB coach and that is NOT a good teaching tool for anyone. Geno, will sometime say a cuss word or two, but not a stream like she does during a game.
So where did you get your rose colored ears?

Was reported that when Wilson fouled out, Dawn didn't send in a replacement player in the allotted time.

I thought that was the case. Dawn just sat on the bench and never sent a replacement in!

Classic passive-aggressive behavior. If you're going to be T'd up for a second time and kicked out of the game you might as well get your money's worth.

She needs a Chris Dailey to interject herself between Dawn and the refs so she won't be thrown out. DAWN! Copy Geno and get yourself a CD! ;)

After listening to the presser, I think the Conference should suspend her for at least one game, that is no way to treat the officials. The game was physical on both sides, but the officials called a good game from what I saw.

I didn't see the first two fouls called on Wilson.....none of the other three seemed to be all that questionable....I didn't know there was a separate fouling standard for possible players of the year but I sure wish there was.....

Yeah, can we sign up for that?

Wilson has a tendency to bulldoze her way in the post. She doesn't lower her shoulder (an obvious foul) because she doesn't have to - she's usually bigger and stronger than whoever is guarding her, so she can pretty much run them over. It's not like she does it all the time, but she gets away with it, seemingly, because of who she is.

I don't know about suspending Dawn, but a public rebuke by the SEC might be in order. Again, I will state that I like Dawn. She is a fierce competitor, but she is also the HC of the reigning national champions as well as the current coach of the US national team. As such, her actions and words are under a microscope and she needs to be cognizant of that fact.

If I was an official in the SEC I would be very strict on the foul calls when it came to SC vs whoever. You don't dis the refs in a presser and get away with it. I remember years ago in a IU - Purdue game Bobby Knight got Teed for a second time. The next time they played the refs teed him again, he got mad a little later on a foul call and tossed a chair across the court. He was teed again left the game. The Big 10 suspended him for 2 or 3 games.

exactly..................it takes some skill and maturity to play with three fouls but its done all the time.................Wilson's fifth was pure frustration...........there was no need for her to push through that screen and thus leave the court with several minutes remaining............

I think that is the reason why Jose pulled Laska out in yesterdays game, she was getting frustrated and didn't want her to do something stupid.

Think of Z's brilliant play in the 4th qtr vs ND saddled with 4 fouls.

She got tossed out of the game. That's the punishment.

I'm not sure where this vitriol is coming from. It's like Dawn came to your houses and kicked your dog or something.
