Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

An Allstate sponsored conference needs a member further east than Morgantown. It can't just exclude the entire northeast
@Kolumbo, mate, you're thinking with your heart, but Allstate and the Big 12 ain't thinking with their heads...they can and most certainly will exclude the northeast. They just don't need us as much as we need them, wish it wasn't true, but that's our reality.

You know they joined the Big 10 in 2014, right? How long is long term? Other than a brief burst in the early 2000s Rutgers has been pretty dreadful. Maryland, other than a few teams under Fridgen has not been a significant player since the 1980s. I believe they have 1 outright ACC championship. They too have been a mess since joining the Big 10. They don’t draw crowds. They are the 3rd option behind 2 NFL teams in their region.
Maryland ended the season ranked 5x in the 70s, 3x in the 80s, and 4x in the 2000s. They have 9 ACC championships. In my opinion, they just need the right coach to help motivate the alums to increase support. Rutgers has a poorly run administration and athletic department which hampers their athletic teams.

Rutgers has had a poorly run administration since 1980 at least.

As far as Maryland goes, the Terps have done nothing. They wine 1 ACC title since the 1980s. They had a few ranked teams 20 years ago.

The great fallacy of CR. Everyone wants to move up and get into a better conference. When there were 6 BCS conferences most teams had a legitimate chance of competing within the conference and perhaps winning a conference championship. Ruttie and Maryland could very well be better programs today than they were 10 years ago but they are in the Big Ten. They are not winning a conference championship anytime soon. Heck Ruttie tied USC last year for the #9 spot. Not bad at all. There will be anomalies, like Indiana finishing 2nd while Nebraska, Michigan State, Washington, Wisconsin finished in the bottom half. All this CR is better for the bank. Not better for the fans. As has been pointed out, some teams have to finish in the bottom half. Most are playing to make a bowl game rather than a conference championship or CFP.

After all that, the ACC or Big 12 is where UConn needs to land. 😉
