Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

They weren't selfless but they weren't dying either.

They had the largest contract of any non fb playing conference.

It has been mutually beneficial. But again, where would UConn be if they hadn't gotten back into the Big East?
They were. They had no ratings and saw the writing on the wall. We just pulled 3M for a single WBB…that is more than every DePaul team can muster combined in a season.

And separately we’d be fine..we hired Hurley and his limit is not bound by conference. This relationship is clearly to the benefit of the BE at our expense.

If what you are saying was true, it was foolish to pay an exit fee to the AAC.

I believe at the time it may have helped a little with recruiting with playing in NYC. It energized the fan base. Today it doesn’t seem to matter as much. There are the best conferences and the rest. BE is usually best of the rest.

Although, like six times in the last decade, they've just been the best.

Well, at least we didn't give notice of our withdrawal with no place to go. So we've got that going for us (and a winning football season.)

Come to think of it we're not like FSU at all.
I thought that very recently FSU said that they never had any intention of leaving.

Yes, they did. Of course the complaint they filed, which expressly gives their notice of intent to leave, says something entirely different.

The conference is on its way to mid major status with or without us. The WCC is one with or without Gonzaga.
Big difference between the big east and the wcc….multiple final fours from programs in this conference, what’s the wcc have San Francisco from the 50s? A lot more modern success in the big east than a conference like the wcc

Not true. Their media rights would be significantly decreased without us. This idea that the Big East was somehow selfless in inviting us is comical. They invited us back for their own salvation as an alternative to actually investing in themselves, particularly on the WBB side. We owe them nothing nothing.

They aren’t giving us more without us giving them something in return.

The conference they are without us is a mid major. I'm sorry to say it, but it's unfortunately true. Unless Cooley revitalizes Georgetown and unless Nova finds a way to do it without Wright, this conference is a mid major only...

You could say the same about the ACC.

Which we will eventually, at which point their stature diminishes greatly. You’d think they’d at least try to entice us to want to stay.
I think everyone knows we are not going to stay in the BE forever, unless FB only conferences become a thing.

The BE has no incentive to give us a bigger piece of the pie if the end result of us leaving isnt going to change, they would only do it if they are able to increase the exit penalty to recoup some of the lost revenue.

Same applies to us, it behooves us to be a team player right now so that when the time comes to leave there are the most minimal of barriers in our way.

He means “double your NIL donations”.
In August, he said that they were going to double it.

"Mora several times last season used the same setting he occupied on Tuesday to emphasize the importance of raising money to recruit. The Huskies raised and spent about $100,000 last season through NIL efforts. This season, the number is up ten-fold, to somewhere between $1-1.25 million.

That is something Benedict was willing to discuss.

“We’re going to double it next year, at least,” he said. “We’re going to pour gas on it. We’re going to win in football. I’m tired of being disrespected as a brand, nationally, because of football. And I get it. But the difference as we sit here today is we have NIL and revenue sharing now. And before, when we were a BCS affiliate with the old Big East, we could recruit differently. When that went away, it really impacted this university in a way that is probably unique because of the location. There are very, very good recruits here. But there are a limited number. And they all go, if you look at the top 10 every year, there’s one thing in common — all of them are going to power [conferences]. Whether NIL and revenue sharing will help us keep some of those kids will be determined, but we can recruit in a totally different way. We have an unbelievable university. We have great facilities. We have great coaches. And we’re going to start providing people with great opportunities in other ways.”
