Seems to me there is a need for a new thread that is a repository for debates pertaining to How to become P2 or Realigned or some such thing, but mainly how to win in FB and the benefits accruing thereof. I've posted 8-10 times with a similar theme in probably 5 different threads, can't keep track of where my last post was anymore.

I'm sure everyone realizes the magnitude of the transformation of the University of Connecticut from 1980-2000. That transformation has continued on since, maybe not quite as dramatically. To say that we can't build an on campus football stadium denies that transformation occurred. If we can spend the $$ we did on the Hockey building, I think we can "gamble" on a FB Stadium. Is it the be all end all? No, winning is. Can you do one without the other? Sure. Having both might be the goal though.

Well, Connecticut pays 2.7 million a year to lease the Rent, so eliminating that is a starting point for a potential financial benefit. If you add to that lost revenue from not being able to realize profits from parking in concessions I'll make a guest that's another 800,000 a season, roughly. So that would be about 3.5 million a year.

Now, I'm not arguing in favor of abandoning the rent and immediately building a new stadium, I'm just responding to your "literally no benefit" comment. Keep in mind that potentially the benefit could be significantly higher if we actually had a competitive football team.

Let me restate a point that I frequently make, and made above, right now we are blessed to have Rentschler Field and I'm not advocating that we've abandon it. But 10 years from now the Barnes will be paid off and the building will have reached the end of its useful life and we will be faced with a decision of "massive" reinvestment, or rebuilding. at that point in time it makes sense to weigh the choice of reinvesting in the Rent versus building on campus.

sounds suspiciously like the start to a 10 year plan to build an on campus stadium, predicated on playing winning football.
 
Some schools seem talked about re realignment...others not...I hear about UNC but not NC State.

NC State...not a lot realignment publicity or talk of being wanted by another conference..

But they had a good athletic year...Men's and Women's basketball to Final Fours, football 9-4. baseball to the CWS, and their guy finished as champ of the Annual International Cheese Rolling Race....and let's not forget NC State's performance in 1/4 Scale Tractor Competition.

It's not just football or UNC wouldn't get a mention...

I'm with you completely. Unfortunately this seems to have become "Generic Realignment Thread" more and more over the past few years, don't think the tide can be stemmed at this point
 
No idea how many UConn games will be on peacock if any but currently peacock is offering a year subscription for 19.99. Ends late June I believe.

My recollection was that only tweets were to be posted in this thread. When commentary was included, an attempt was made to make a separate thread for just commentary, and keep this thread for tweets. In fact, some posters were banned for violating the requirement. A recent attempt was made by having a Key Tweets Only thread, but several posters mocked this by posting tweets by anyone named Key.

I would have no problem if key tweets only was done again and strongly enforced, but it appears that this is now and has been a realignment thread with tweets thrown in.
