We had no clue where UConn stood yesterday, and we still have no clue.I wonder how this affects us.

Mexico loves the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised if it does OKThis is an AAC level move. No one in Mexico is going to care. Only way they get people to go is if they give free tickets.
You can't compare the NFL to this. A big reason the NFL has become big Is because they spent decades showing games for free and cultivating an audience.Mexico loves the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised if it does OK
I mean this is an attempt to take advantage of the advertising and marketing the NFL has already done for American football. If it flops they just dont do it again. It's not like it's a giant investment. You can't compare the NFL to this. A big reason the NFL has become big Is because they spent decades showing games for free and cultivating an audience.

Memphis new partner?
If Yormark just visited Memphis, then the Big 12 is still vetting candidates. From what the AZ President said yesterday, the Pac12 Presidents still haven't seen the TV contract. In other words, the Big 12 hasn't finalized their plan. So there is still hope. It's just frustrating that it is taking so long.Still no UConn stealth backtrack messaging, so I remain optimistic, but I’ll admit momentum seems to be dying on the vine.
Academically? Are all schools in the B12 community colleges?Memphis is naturally a MUCH better fit than us for the Big12 culturally, academically and geographically. Checks off the BBall check box enough, has a large tv market and football has been competitive. Larger capacity stadium closer to campus. But they don't have NYC... so we shall see how much the league (outside of Yormark) really cares about NYC and MSG. Memphis is generally on the same page as UCF who the BIG12 clearly values.
I’m not saying I would travel to MX for a football game but I immensely enjoyed my travels there. I would like to check out Monterey and heard the stadium is great. I realize many don’t share this feeling.A lot of those Big 12 schools are very close to mexico. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have branch campuses in Mexico. This would be a weird move for the B1G but not the Big 12 which is heavy in the southwest.
Until we beat them, which will happen soon enough.Yeah it is weird. I honestly hate southern football culture and won't be looking forward to the constant down talking if we join the conference.

Like UConn football I think Memphis is being treated a little unfair. Memphis is a Research 1 Carnegie School. Too many people rely solely on US News and World Report.Academically? Are all schools in the B12 community colleges?
I need a key tweet telling me why they canceled. Somebody reputable in Colorado get on that please.
Nobody is talking about USF as a potential B12 add. I'm curious as to why. What is wrong with USF institutionally? I know brands are more important than cable boxes moving forward, therefore UCF's recent football success helped it leapfrog the Bulls and land a spot in the B12. I also think that UConn and Memphis are stronger candidates at this time. However, USF could also be a good add for them at some point. They would not be redundant with UCF. Different part of a large state (Tampa #11 DMA, Orlando #17 -- interestingly Miami is #18).Lets hope so. I still believe our best bet is for the PAC12 to hold together and add schools of their own forcing the B12 to look east, at that point we have to be the #1 target. Memphis makes sense if they want to add two. Yormark stated he wants to double down on being the best in basketball, UCONN and Memphis would certainly solidify the B12 as the premier basketball conference.

The old "no history of winning" argument or do you want the "5th best brand in a state" argument? Couple those with the mediocre academics and suddenly your checking very few boxes. That all said, I see your points on market and super long run potential....its why USF continues to try to play ball.Nobody is talking about USF as a potential B12 add. I'm curious as to why. Agreed, and the schools will facilitate obtaining required passports. Latter, similar to UConn for this summer’s hoop trip to Europe (edit).I mean this is an attempt to take advantage of the advertising and marketing the NFL has already done for American football. I do wonder what they do about passports for players...

R1 no doubt primarily by professors and PhD-candidate researchers. On an undergrad level, Memphis’ overall academic reputation reflects its high admission acceptance rate > 90% and low graduation rate < 40%. Regardless, many people clearly benefit from their Memphis educations.Like UConn football I think Memphis is being treated a little unfair. Memphis is a Research 1 Carnegie School.
Geno coached multiple Olympic winning teams. Those games were televised worldwide. In Australia, the folks that commented on my UConn shirt knew Geno. I'm sure Alabama college football doesn't have a fraction of the reach.Probably not, but probably closer than most think. Geno is known in pockets of Europe and Asia. The nation's best college football coach probably isn't a big deal in Rome.
This is just ignorant. No person in the history of televised sports has remembered the women’s basketball coach of another nations team that’s on TV once every 4 years at most. Stop hyperinflating the reach of women’s basketball.Geno coached multiple Olympic winning teams. Those games were televised worldwide. Well, I know of two people in Australia that did. So you're wrong there. I'm not hyperinflating anything. What are you getting out of marginalizing women's basketball? This is just ignorant. Can you name three people who coached a women's Olympic basketball team that was not the US team?Well, I know of two people in Australia that did. So you're wrong there. I'm not hyperinflating anything. What are you getting out of marginalizing women's basketball?
