Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

Rule 1 is likely. What amazes me is how UConn is undervalued when its FOOTBALL record in the OBE proves that it can be very competitive with other P5 programs, when it's on a level playing field. Yormark clearly gets it. AD Dave and Coach Mora are sending the message that we can be "P5 competitive" in football, if given the same resources as everyone else.
For whatever reason, a different much higher standard seems to apply to UConn. Maybe some of these Tornado Alley schools are turning their nose up at "northeastern football" because they feel superior despite the Big 12 not winning a national championship in football in nearly two decades?

And people here tell me I’m crazy all the time when I say we need at least HAVE PLANS for an on campus stadium.
It will be the opposite if this is dragged out and UConn is left out again. There will be less support for football investment and there will be calls for UConn to drop to FCS.

Maybe stop calling places where people live fly over states and stop calling them backwards and you'll realize despite some of our differences most people are good, interesting, and worth getting to know.
Truth is a defense

Have you seen what they consider pizza to be in Iowa? Heathens.
Then, when UConn fans travel to Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas for football games, they can bring some pizza from Sally's or Pepe's in New Haven with them. In exchange, we will get some Tex-Mex from our new friends in the Big 12.

There is literally a midwest chain called Pizza Ranch. I’m surprised they don’t use ranch dressing in lieu of pizza sauce.

I am so sick of hearing about how great the New Big East is, I would like to see the reaction of the NBE loyalists if UConn -- heaven forbid UConn doesn't get into the B12 -- and joins the revised PAC12 with Tulane and maybe USF for all sports including BB.

Well, that's not happening. So relax.

We’re not getting into the Big 12 as a full member because of the football program.

Perception is reality.

I disagree. We are too valuable to ignore at this point:
  • Highly academically ranked state flagship public university
  • Record of significant investments in revenue sports
  • Recent major investments in on-campus facilities
  • Reasonably large fan base and state population (29th out of 50)
  • East coast location and NYC market
  • Most successful w and m hoops programs of the last 30 years - both programs trending up
  • Recently nationally ranked programs in hoops, baseball, hockey, field hockey, track and field - all trending up
  • Multiple national titles in soccer, hoops, and field hockey
  • Football program that went to a bowl game with new name brand coach - trending up

Believe it or not, a good portion of the country prefers other pizza styles. And their opinions count as much as New Haven style fans. In fact, even in CT, that style is in the minority.

If the "best basketball conference" can't be convinced to take the "best basketball school in the country" what can ya do?

What's going on at the moment is a lot of posturing. I personally believe that the key is how many P-12 members jump, nothing else.

Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa St, Kansas, Kansas St, Oklahoma St, TCU, Texas Tech, UCF, West Virginia.

Above are all members of the B-12 after every announced move is completed, listed alphabetically. From the day we moved up to FBS, the bolded schools are football teams that our team has beaten, the underlined is the only one who we are winless against.

I really don't see how there can be anywhere near as much noise against us as has been recently reported but among other things, with people wanting to publish anything they hear, any comments at all will get a lot of play.

You'll often find you have many things in common with them. Basically don't be a condescending AH.
Could like this post 100 times if i could. UConn Twitter has been pretty much an embarrassment.

It's hard to know what's happening. It seems like Yormark is all in on UConn but might not have the leverage to get it done, based on the recent article. That seems to run contrary to earlier reporting that basically everyone in the Big XII gave him carte blanche and trust the plan. It could be, of course, that they meant "we trust the plan, but Rule 1 still applies".

You would hope, if it came to a vote of extending the offer, you could piece together enough votes who might be in favor of it for natural reasons (Kansas, Cincinnati, WVU) with school leaders who trust in Yormark's plan.

Who the hell knows
It’s sucks hearing the Big XII directors’ reasoning but to play devils advocate, it does LOOK like UConn doesn’t care about football to SOME degree. We are 1 of maybe 3-4 schools that has their stadium off campus. And it’s not really even that close, it’s 25 miles away. And then that stadium is only 38,000? I get that it’s expandable but it would be by far the smallest in the conference. So while we in Connecticut may understand that the decision to not build a stadium in Storrs was due to logistics, that probably isn’t a satisfactory answer to every other team in the conference who managed to do it. Additionally, what they’re saying about the deficit isn’t that we spend too much money it’s that we run the department poorly. How many times have we bitched about how the state screws us with the XL contract? Or the Rent? Or how the new hockey barn is half the size it should be? It’s not like we’re oblivious to these things either. Not saying I agree with them that we shouldn’t be invited, just that it is understandable to an extent.

Hell, they're too lazy to even make a hamburger or sloppy joe. Nope, it's just "loose meat" sandwiches

I find the change in titles/wording today amusing…

Truth, when football was in a good conference it competed and got better.

This x 100 - of course today our program isn't great and we've had a rough decade since relegation but in the big east we competed and won against our peers.

Football is a different animal but what athletic endeavors has UConn taken that we haven't had success in? We just need the platform.

Some of you are such babies/pessimists. These are all hearsay articles. We are way more in the mix than ever before. Just let it play out
Nope, we are not babies, and yes, they have our attention for however long it takes to play out. Thing is, we have seen this movie before, and with the writers on strike, we are unable to fathom how the ending could have gotten rewritten.
