Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

I would go with the four play of UConn, Cincy, UCF and USF. There's enough latent interest in B12 sports in Florida to justify the addition. There is a ton of traffic between Texas and Florida along I-10. Plus anyone can fly direct in to Orlando. Well, except for WVU. There you have to drive for an hour to find an airport.

Agreed - that's the move to make.

They won't do it, though. (IMO)

They are worried about profit dilution from a two school add. Do you think that they'd have the foresight to add 4?

I didn't KNOW Cincinnati was in SEC territory. They'll let anybody write a web column these days.
It's a reach, but DeCourcy may loosely lean on Covington, Kentucky, which is about a mile across the Ohio from the Cinci business district, and other KY towns which are also part of the Cinci metro area and media market.

The thing is, the TV contract keeps the money the same for adding two schools, not four. By adding the third and fourth school, they start losing money. At least that's how I understand it.

The University of Connecticut is the greatest university in the world!!! Ya heard? Big12 better f$%king recognize!

Have I been drinking on a Monday night? Yes. But that doesn't change the facts, people. That doesn't change the facts... :D

(Ow. I just got virtually throat-punched by Fishy...)

That's true. Cincy's airport is actually in Kentucky. That issue was also raised when Louisville added to the ACC under the pretense that they would bring the entire, basketball crazy Commonwealth of Kentucky fans to the ACC. The Cards fans are barely the majority in Louisville due to the fact that U Kentucky is their state U and have had more historical success never mind in the Cincy metro were there are both Cincy and Ohio St fans living in Kentucky.

From the article:

So these two days of meetings promise to carry a lot more significance than it seemed at first blush, although immediate calls for expansion appear unlikely. Other than OU President David Boren and West Virginia’s E. Gordon Gee, there doesn’t seem to be enough support for adding at least two teams to the league because of the lack of appeal of available candidates.

One Big 12 athletic director, discussing the right number for the league in 2016, told the American-Statesman: “The first time we saw Bo Derek, we knew it. A perfect 10.”

Some, like Boren and Gee, see some blemishes. They see the BYUs, Cincinnatis, UConns, South Floridas, Central Floridas and Houstons out there and wonder why not? But would that mean more money for current Big 12 teams? Remember, the network partners didn’t deduct a penny from the league even though it initially dropped two teams, so is it reasonable to expect an increase in rights fees from ESPN/Fox if the Big 12 returns to its original dozen count?

Bowlsby said he hasn’t had any conversations with prospective invitees but knows those talks have occurred between presidents and athletic directors.

God what a perfect quote to demonstrate just how out of touch some of these people are.

One of three things are true:

1) Baylor, Texas Tech, KState, Iowa State and the rest of the little 8 must all think the President of Oklahoma, which has one of the top programs in college football, is totally full of spit and is just bluffing,
2) Those same schools think they will be fine if Oklahoma and Texas walk out the door, or
3) There is a lot of posturing going on among the factions.

And how old! I wonder if they still drink Tab?

My god is this conference destined to fail. Nothing this conference does is strategic, pro-active, or even remotely long-term in its thinking.
What gives me comfort is that this conference is the absolute WORST place for Uconn Athletics to land long-term. That layered onto the #1 rule for CR means it's basically a done deal. Boren probably has a Uconn T-shirt on under his suit at the meetings.

No. The worst place for UConn athletics to land long term is the conference we are currently members of...

Then this conference.

If we get out of the current flaming dumpster we call home, we can have at least a few years of collecting 25M in TV revenue before having to play conference twister all over again.

Someone at UConn should be talking to them daily about what happens when your conference collapses around you. They have to be complete morons if they don't think they are in danger of getting left behind.

25 m and P5 membership would solve a lot of problems.

UCONN was in there not too long ago. BE fell apart right around UCONN. Same thing can easily happen to the little 8 outside OU and Texas. If they keep thinking 10 is perfect, they are as dumb as the old BE.

Thought it could go without saying that 'landing' would insinuate some form of movement from our current state. You even managed to throw the "dumpster fire" cliche when describing our current conference.

It could.

And I did. Successfully I might add.

40 of them "key tweets"

1,500 s***ing on Rutger and BC

10o of them from Fishy berating us for poisoning this thread

1,360 of them are even more useless than whatever moonshine-inspired verbal diarrhea that leaks out of West Virginia.

Excellent work everyone. We should be proud?
