Iowa's loss last night is and isn't surprising at the same time to me.. They lost to Northwestern both times they faced each other last year. What surprised me is that Czinano wasn't as much a presence on the boards as I thought she could be last night.

The freshman post Kayleigh Walsh is a huge upgrade offensively and for their interior defense. This was also Czinano's first day back after a COVID hiatus. Not sure that excuses -- TV said something like Northwestern hadn't practiced more than 2 times since before Christmas.

Indiana won by 7. I wouldn't consider that putting their put down on Nebraska. Nebraska had some chances late and I believe there couple plays where they should have been turnovers in their favour instead of them being called fouls.

Michigan had their issues off and on during their game as well. Their first quarter is what helped to keep them ahead by double digits. I was surprised with how they struggled against Penn State's pressure. That could be a weak spot for them.

Iowa snaps Purdue's 5 game winning streak, 79-66. I can't remember when I have seen Iowa go 0 for from 3-point line. They were 0-15! Caitlin went 0-6. However, Caitlin and Monika dominated the game. Purdue has a pretty solid team and next year they should be a force in the Big Ten.

Forgot to give a shout out to Coach Moseley and her Wisconsin squad on their win against Rutgers. It was looking rough that first quarter but slowly Wisconsin got things figured out and they were able to put everything together and got the win. Great job, Coach Moseley. I hope the Wisconsin fans are patient and give coach some time to get the right pieces together for that program. Changing a culture takes time.

Came across this while reading up on Indiana's game postponements due to COVID. Very unfortunate if Holmes is not able to come back this season. She just keeps getting better every year.

Ugh, very sad to hear. One of my favorite post players to watch. How Indiana adjusts without her will be interesting to watch, but without a doubt a definite blow to a Hoosiers team that was definitely FF caliber with Holmes in the lineup. Without, I'm not as sure. Hopefully there is a possibility she can return for March, and praying for a smooth recovery.

I agree. Very sad to hear this news. Mackenzie Holmes has been a joy to watch this year. Solid post player with some solid foot work. Just a solid post player. It is going to be interesting to see how Indiana plays without her going forward. Huge blow to the program. Praying for a smooth recovery as well.

Michigan played a pretty complete game against Wisconsin last night. This was rough to watch. Huge fan of Coach Moseley and Coach Caroline Doty. Just hate to see any of our UConn connection losing. But the cool part was watching coach Moseley, Doty, and the rest of the coaching staff instructing the players and the constant teaching. Hopefully in time this will play off for Wisconsin program.

I caught the game as well. Credit to Wisconsin, they kept playing until the final whistle. Some teams would just mail it in. They're adapting to the culture Coach Moseley is trying to build.

It will also help when they can get some more size to battle at the post position. They signed a 6'4" player from Canada for 2022 who could help them with this next season, depending on how she fairs when she gets on campus.

Indiana is playing for the first time in 15 days, without their leading scorer rebounder and shot blocker, on the road, against a legit top-10 team. Their defense and composed guard play will hopefully keep them close, but it's hard to see how they pull this one off. Ali Patberg had a mild ankle sprain in the overtime period of Indiana's last game on Jan. 15. I'm anxious to see if that's going to affect her mobility.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. With Indiana losing Holmes and off for a couple weeks, it adds to the drama.
Honestly, without Holmes I really don’t know if IN can stay with MI.

I'm of the same thought but Indiana was pretty impressive last year and she wasn't the primary focus of the offense then compared to this season. Gulbe and Browne are serviceable and will be physical in the paint.

The guard play for Indiana could be their strength in this game. Michigan's guards can be inconsistent at times and streaky from the 3 point line. Leigha Brown and Kiser have to have big games to help take the focus off of Hillmon.

Agree with most of this, but have to disagree with your comment that Holmes wasn't the primary focus of Indiana's offense last season. Last season (and this season too) she led them in PPG, FGA, FG%, USG%, and PER. And she was second (but essentially tied for first) in FGA. So I'm not sure it's possible how you could justify your claim statistically. Additionally, simply having her camped out as a scoring threat on the block creates the spacing that opens things up for the guards to drive.

Gulbe has been able to shoulder a bit more of the scoring load as of late, but she's a stretch 4, not a true 5. So that changes their offense a bit. Browne can set good screens and play good defense, but she's hardly a scoring threat on the block.

My thoughts aren't based on stats but from how I saw her progress throughout the season. Last season it felt like you had to plan for Patberg and Berger first, then Holmes. This season, it's the opposite where you better have a plan for Holmes first, then focus on the rest of the team.

Re Gulbe, I agree she's not a true 5 but she has when needed. Browne may not be a scoring threat but her physicality is what Indiana relies on. Where Browne excels is in frustrating players from what I remember seeing when she played in HS. They'll need a lot of that with Hillmon and Kiser.

They are playing better than any team in the Big 10 right now. Strange that we are talking about the top 4 teams in the Big 10 (Ohio State and Iowa are playing now). rand Maryland is not one of them.

Believe me, no one around the Big Ten is counting the Terps out!

So Michigan outrebounds IN by 32 and win by 15 wow
When your post depth is sketch and your starting center gets injured, that tends to happen.

Wow, Hillmon is good. She sank some shots tonight that nobody should be able to make.

I hope she and Grace Berger are drafted by teams that will use their skills well.

Didn't see the Iowa game but Clark had a monster night--43 points, 16/28 FG, 7/14 from 3. Couldn't get the win though. Ohio State is quietly putting together a nice season. Sheldon and Mikesell are a lethal backcourt.

Michigan is playing good basketball right now and appears to be in the driver's seat for the Big Ten title. Good win today. Indiana just isn't the same team without Holmes inside. It's a shame since she was having a great year and Indiana seemed to have all the pieces to win the Big Ten and make a solid Final Four run. They could still win the Big Ten since they have a light schedule ahead, with only Iowa/Maryland as noteworthy games left on the schedule.
