Here's a better use of time. Name the athletic department that has made out the best after they switched from a former BCS conference to a P5 conference? i.e., TCU/Utah, etc., don't count.

TCU and Utah both perfectly represent our current football situation and they have done very well in their new P5 conference.

Miami is a basketball program thriving in their new P5 conference.
Rutgers has also improved their basketball fortunes since leaving the Big East.

Basketball is all about the coach, we'll be fine as long as we have Hurley, there is no logical reason to think otherwise. The B12's goal is to be the best basketball conference in the country, so they fit us like a glove, and don't rule out the possibility of the B12 adding St John's and Nova at some point. They want to negotiate a separate TV deal for basketball which would elimate traditonal problems of being hybrid.

The BE teams (Miami, BC, VT, Cuse, Pitt, UL, WVa) not great
The B12 teams (Nebraska, Colorado, TAMU, Mizzou, UT, OU) ouch, meh and TBD
The ACC teams (MD, Rutgers) LOL
The P12 teams (USC, UCLA) might have the best chance.

The answer is probably Notre Dame.

I think it is far more reasonable to view the B-12 (where Kansas won their two most recent national titles) as a different conference than the B-8 (where they won their first two) than it is to view the BE where Nova won their two most recent titles as a different conference than the BE in 1985.

Ok everyone, if top 50 football program is what you want, a new quarterback makes that happen next year. We had the worst QB to ever play and made a bowl game. Best men's and women's basketball programs by a mile, not even close. Top ten baseball team. So concerned about money. Why? Im concerned with championships. Are you worried UConn is going bankrupt? I don't get it. Big 12 is conference usa now. No one cares about any team in big 12 except Kansas basketball. And we play Kansas anyway. Nonsense, status quo or big 10.

What's preventing UConn from winning championships while in the B12? No one seems to care about any team except Villanova in the NBE. No one who follows UConn baseball believed they were top ten. That was in one poll, there must be five of those.

Ok let’s see. UConn was in the AAC from 2013 to 2019. Won the championship in 2014 with Calhoun’s recruits. Then appeared in the NCAA tourney in 2016 with a quick exit. No other tourney appearances until 2021, 2022 and 2023, winning it all. You tell me that being in the AAC for 7 years produced positive results. I think not. Not until we returned to the BE did we have multiple year tourney invites. Look at the stretch from 1990 to 2012. 18 appearances in 23 years. Tell me being a member of the Big East was and now is again is not important in recruiting talent.

What does any of what you're saying have to do with my post?

I don't really care what happens but I know that the Big 12 is the move. I love the Big East and will continue to love the Big East if UConn leaves just as I loved the Big East when UConn was in the AAC.
Even though I think it will slightly hurt UConn in men's basketball which I care most about I think we have to join the Big 12 if it's there and not only am I kind of hoping for it I think it will happen. I also root for UConn football and every other sport UConn plays, don't think I've missed a UConn football game even when they were losing every single game.

What I don't like is a bunch of the arguments thrown out around here trying to sell it. We aren't similar to the schools in the Big 12. We aren't similar to the schools in the Big East either.

I'm going to disagree. I don't think they really matter to realignment, but they do contribute greatly to our brand value. I was out of the country recently and when someone found it I attended UConn, the first thing they said was doesn't their women's basketball team win the championship every year? When I told him that the men's team or national champions he was surprised.

The amazing success of the woman's team is very much a part of our brand. For what it's worth Yormark has mentioned the success of the woman's team as part of what makes us attractive. No one's offering us solely because of it, but, as I'm fond of saying lately, it's not nothing.

My prediction:

The current conference alignments are predicated on a cable-based revenue model that no longer exists. It is also based on a talent allocation model that no longer exists due to the NIL and the Transfer Portal. The next 10 years of realignment are going to make the last 22 years look like an era of stability. A lot is going to change over the next 10 years.

I am in favor of a move to the Big 12 because it positions UConn well for the next move. I also wouldn't be that upset if it doesn't happen. A lot is going to change soon, and I think UConn will have more opportunities.

There’s going to be some wild (insert profane word starting with S that can be used on every website on earth except this one) happening down the road and if you have a seat at the current table, you’re in a far better spot than if you do not. At some point there are just no more chairs and UConn not currently having one is definitely a concern.

There are no permissions from Mansfield residents needed to build in the athletic campus behind Toscano. Nor are there any environmental issues. They did and environmental study when they built Toscano. There is absolutely zero need to make infrastructures for six weekends in a year. Tailgating feathers the traffic coming into and out of the stadium. That plus smart traffic management would handle the load just the way it does in every college stadium across America. It is such a Connecticut thing to believe you need a limited access highway with an offramp leading into stadium parking.

Disagree. It's the perfect location for it. Having all athletics located in one area lets you overlap parking so you have less lot coverage. It's also going to be less of a nicer than if you put it on the the highest ground in the area. But if you're writing the check, I'll put it wherever you want!

I never thought about this site before. It's interesting. I like the athletic campus better, but the point you make about access is a good one. Also, it probably would require Mansfield approval. As you get far enough north on campus you cross over some dividing line, that I don't really understand, and Mansfield approvals are required.
