Just a couple of quick questions, who in the Big East is important to UConn? What teams are most important for you to keep playing? Also, what non Big10/SEC BCS football schools would you want to be in a conference with?
I think the most important to UConn would be closer to the original Big East.
I’d like to keep playing Marquette and Xavier in hoops.
Regarding football schools: I’d love to see a league combining football and basketball.
Football:
UConn, BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Duke, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Clemson, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Va Tech, Wake Forest, Tulane, NC State, and Temple.
Basketball:
Villanova, Providence, Seton Hall, St John’s, Georgetown, Marquette, Xavier, (one of Creighton, Gonzaga, or Depaul).
That gives 16 football teams plus 8 basketball teams for a total of 24. A ton of existing and potential rivalries there.
I do think, if done right, that line up has the potential to put 2-3 teams in the football top 10 (6 in the top 25) and 8 in basketball top 25.
This assumes UNC and Florida St are B1G or SEC. The schools above need to drop egos and realize that if they don’t do something like this they will slowly but surely wither on the vine of collegiate athletics.
Just my two cents.
