So Gee says not a dead issue. Not putting any stock on his fav four. so expansion likelihood feels like around 15% this go-around. Thought it was 0% before his post.
BBall is our 'brand'. Just because B12 (and ACC) didn't see the value, doesn't mean the networks won't. So agreed, we should exit AAC and look to form alliances with individual programs. I just think we should work from our strength (bball) and take care of this first and foremost. Football's...
Progam Note to Fellow Posters:
I get it.........looks grim for our Big12 invite. But last time I checked, this has not been announced. It is highly unlikely but not inconceivable that they take 4 including UCONN. Can we stop shoveling dirt on the carcass till the official announcement?
Yes, but the cable providers are/will experience much less revenues from less users. They will gladly pay twitter (and others) to feed games of regional interest. If twitter/google for example figure out how to create an interactive experience that can be monetized, it'll work.
in prior reporting, ESPN referred to 'probably down to two' . since they seem to know the most among the news folks, the fact that they didn't refer to 'only two' felt notable to me. capeche?
from Trotter (top shelf tweet)
Quick take: ESPN not saying 'only 2', seems like more of an opening, but.... they are totally confused and of different minds. DISFUCTIONAL.
I used to be of that opinion. But not anymore. The landscape will be much different when these GOR's expire (or sooner). If we can hold out (we can) and improve the program even marginally, our strengths will be well suited in the post-ESPN world. We should stick it out one way or the other.
Speaking of horses...
I remember the sooner horses pulling a covered wagon w a crazed cowboy at breakneck speed when we played them in the Fiesta. Gotta admit: they were intimidating...
Go fox, go Sooners, go Flug, go UCONN!
I agree, although most of you say not a chance. If BYU doesn't change the Code, it appears they are out of consideration. So where the BJ-sus (pardon) does that leave UCONN?
"the conditions offered...." It's just shameful that we have been forced to kow-tow to the Texas connection. Oh yeah, and ESPN!! Only the sound of thousands of cutting chords make me feel slightly better. Sure hope the "other potential home" has a chance.
Good points made, but I disagree. Nelsons' point is valid on the Utah business/corporate impact. In the words of the great Bobby Dylan...."oh the times, they are a changin'..."
That's cause for optimism. Listen, I was just at the Bama game last Saturday. They love religion, but Roll Tide is waaay up there on the pecking order. So, I reckon BYU gets 'religion' and comes public with modified Honor Code.
Once he leaves the pocket, his brain focus' on gaining yards by running. he missed his only pass-on-the-run attempt......badly. If this facet doesn't improve (like now) teams will pulverize us. If he cannot pass on the move, he Has to be replaced.
Look, were not likely to be 'invited' to the B12 unless they get a TV deal, which is where we bring our leverage. Sad that we're a great fit for BIG and/or ACC because of same. So in the absence of a TV deal, and in light of the new TV environment and future, we should figure out how best to...
