Hat tip to one of the OG's, Art Quimby, who was a rebounding machine and scored 49 against BC back in 1954. Not sure how many rebounds he had in the game, but he averaged about 22 boards that year.
Dan Hurley needs a new contract TODAY. I know it’s unlikely he leaves for somewhere else, but he’s the best coach in America and going to get job offers. Make him the highest paid coach in college basketball and do it immediately. He’s deserved it.
Clingan seems like the type of kid who's living the dream right now. Loves playing for UConn and Coach Hurley, loves being a college student, etc. He's put himself in position to make plenty of money at the NBA level and certainly should go pro, but I think he's having so much fun right now I...
I love Karaban. He really improved his game this year on top of a stellar freshman season. Hope he sticks around for another year of seasoning and going for glory.
Kentucky's fan base reeks of desperation. Does the whole basketball world need to grind to a halt because Calipari left bc couldn't stand being there anymore? It's trashy enough that on the day of the national championship the announcement takes focus away from the two teams actually playing in...
Dan Hurley is the best coach in America right now and needs to be compensated like it. Dave Benedict is excellent and I'm sure he's already thinking about a reworked deal, but Hurley's salary needs to double ASAP. I'm sure Gov. Lamont and others can help get whatever funding necessary to help...
Any halfway-competent AD with a coaching vacancy should put both of those guys near the top of their list. I know they said they’re staying (and I hope they do), but 750k to 1m to run your own program is tough to turn down.
I think he’ll be a good pro. To be 7’4” and be able to play the minutes he does, his touch around the rim, etc. I was impressed. Anybody that can score like that against Clingan has my respect.
The only games we lost this year were games where we failed to score at least 70 points. It's an oversimplification, but if we score 75+ our odds go up exponentially.
1.) You’re not going to block a hook shot from a 7’4” player (so don’t try to and potentially get into foul trouble).
2.) Win the rebounding battle
3.) Lock down everybody other than Edey
4.) Just try to slow Edey, he’ll score, just make him earn it.
5.) We can’t lose if we score points, if we...
I know it's tempting to get into it with opposing fans online, but there's no upside - I leave that crap for non-blue blood programs. I'll bet the majority of Alabama fans haven't seen a single UConn game all season, let's hope we give them an education Saturday night.
I understand that ref's have a really difficult job and 9 out of 10 times a play like that results in a foul, but that was a clean block (and what an impressive play!). It a shame we didn't get the chance to see some madness there at the end.
I love the Hartford Civic Center, that place will always have a special place in my heart, and I have so many great memories there. But it's been what, 50 years? It's past time for a new, modern building.
Kevin Ollie's coaching job in the 2014 NCAA tournament remains the best coaching "hot streak" I've ever seen. Every move he made was gold. Things worked out for the best with us getting Hurley, but like most UConn fans, I'll be rooting for KO with the Nets, or wherever his career takes him.
Ollie’s coaching job in the ncaa tournament was one of the best coaching “hot streaks” in history. He pulled all the right strings at the right times. To say he did “more damage to the program than good” is silly, any program would gladly take a natty, even if they had to trade a few down years...
UConn is really, really good. Forget the repeat talk, we have an excellent team that’s fun to watch, just sit back and enjoy the journey. And while we’re at it, I hope UConn fans don’t get triggered on twitter/x by every hater or fool who posts something negative about UConn.. we’re the champs...
I'd stay in Long Island City - it's a 1 stop subway commute just over the bridge into Queens and there are a few new hotels there. You could be in midtown in 10 mins and to MSG in about 20.
Even if Flagg ultimately goes to Duke, I hope for his sake that nobody leaked info to a stupid twitter account. He's earned the right to announce his decision in the manner he wants to.
I wish Flagg the best no matter where he goes. Just a reminder that he's a one-and-done, he's not like a Breanna Stewart who comes in and wins 4 championships. Hard not to be excited about UConn no matter what this recruit or that recruit does - we have Danny Hurley (and they don't).
Our most important commits are Dan Hurley and his staff. If we’ve got those guys, we might not get this guy or that guy, but we’ll continue to bring in elite talent and compete at the highest levels. I hope Flagg makes the best decision for him, but obviously would love to see him at UConn and I...
Keith Urgo is a good coach- happy to see Fordham get some excitement going. The rose hill gym might be a glorified high school gym, but it’s a great place to watch a game.
Fordham is an excellent school, Urgo can coach, and the Rose Hill Gym is a GREAT place to watch a game (oldest D1 gym in the country). Sure Rose Hill is more of a high school gym than a college one, but when the students are loud and engaged (like they were this year) it’s a terrific home court...
Guys like Paul Milsap and Derrick Favors had very nice careers as slightly undersized, old school-type PF's in the NBA. I'm not sure why NBA scouts wouldn't view Adama in a similar way. Even the far less productive Anthony Bennett was drafted #1 overall as a 6'8" PF several years ago. It...
Hawkins has a great attitude and is coachable. To me, Bouk always seemed like his own worst enemy- a guy that didn’t fully buy in and and commit himself to the team. Hawkins is a guy who would dive for loose balls, Bouk maybe not.
I love Walton. I’m not sure I could listen to him call every game, but once in awhile he’s a breath of fresh air. ESPN should set him up for a game a week like the Manning brothers and let him talk hoops with guests while the game is on.
Christyn Williams and Evina Westbrook - here's looking at you, kids! Now's the time for these two to step up. At times CW seems like she's just content to be along for the ride, but she's got the talent to be driving the bus. Maybe this opportunity is finally what she needs to kick into attack...
