Thanks @Dillon77 . I forgot about Gray. Sounds like the Lib does have a plan. Also sounds like they gave Stokes a chance, and she just wasn't fitting into what they were trying to do, both offensively and defensively.

Sparks, Liberty, and Fever have people in their front office that have no idea what they’re doing. Like Bria Holmes waive by the sparks and Cox by the Fever. I just don’t get it.

I would not put the Liberty in the same boat as the Fever or Sparks. The Liberty were awful last year and completely remade their roster, grabbing Howard, Whitcomb, and Laney in the off season, then drafting the likely ROY in Onyenwere.

Jonquel Jones is just so good. I believe she only missed 5 games for the Sun, which I think is a small enough # that she should still be in MVP contention.

Well by that logic, clearly Parker is the MVP. Sky is 8-1 with her, 1-7 without.

I don't really think Parker is the MVP by the way. Any team is going to be not as good without a star player, especially initially as they try to adjust. I'd say the Sun kept their head above water w/out JJ anyway.

Take away Tina Charles and how bad would the Mystics be?

Aces thumped the Sparks. Zahui B. had herself a game, but not enough help. The guards were scoring, but not shooting a high percentage.


I know I'm biased. It seems like every Aces game I watch, they start off the game dinking around. They either fall behind, or trade buckets. Midway or more thru the first quarter Plum comes in off the bench, and suddenly things starting going better. Sometimes she starts scoring right away, sometimes she doesn't, but they just seem to play better when she's on the floor. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Definitely happened tonight. Zahui got off to a red hot start, LA had a bit of a lead. Yo yo-ed back and forth. Plum comes in, they end the quarter up 9 (and I think Hamby has to get some credit for the same phenomenon). From there it was pretty much a laugher.

If Angel never got injured I think it would have been Gray, Young, and Angel. The Aces coach told Jackie last year that she was going to be better off of the bench because she would run the second unit. I'm thinking that the WNBA is so feel that some coaches are thinking that way. Maybe Lambeer thinks Plum can really help the second unit and just continue the offensive pressure. Also, I have no clue... I can't explain him not starting her. It should be Gray, Young, and Plum. I hope they continue to improve. I'm going to be in Vegas soon, so I hope to catch a game.

Young is best doing what she's doing right now: a 3 who can also play the 2 and, in a pinch, bring the ball up when necessary. She rebounds well, can defend and is exceedingly athletic. ND went to two championships using her in this capacity and, not suprisingly,she's having her best pro season playing the 3. Leave her there. Some kind of decision could/should be made when Angel comes back....

Plum, given Gray's presence, is really playing off-ball except when ISO's are called. Laimbeer doesn't seem to be hung up whether she starts or not. Just as along as she knows her role and gets the minutes that matter to the team, I'm not hung up on either. (This is, as opposed to Vickie Johnson's rotation, where everyone seems to expand and contract depending on their shift.)

Gray was brought aboard by Laimbeer to be the main PG. However, Gray and Plum (and even Young when need be) can handle setting up certain sets, particulary if an ISO is called for. BTW, I know you're partial to Plum and I'm not dissing her by any means. Laimbeer has a strange habit of doubling down on positions that have #1 picks that I think slow down individual -- and by practice, team -- growth. Creates some clusterf%*k situations to my way of thinking. (See Angel, Jackie). If Plum and Gray can work it out, fine.

BTW, You sometimes do this thing with your adverbs ( the use of "ly's") that make it hard to pin down (and/or give you some wiggle room ).

I personally love a two-point-guard lineup. Plum and Gray are both good passers with great court vision, but both can be ball-dominant perhaps to a fault. Having both on the floor at once opens up options and keeps the ball from getting stuck.

Without Nneka, I don't think any of the Sparks starters (Zahui B, Coffey, Wheeler, Cooper, Toliver/Sykes) are better than the Aces' two best bench players: Plum and Hamby.

Fever fought hard to come back from a 18 point deficit at half but fell short

Man, Brionna Jones is a beast. I remember from her MD college days, no one could give Stewie fits like her.

The Storm have also struggled all 3 times they played the Fever this year, but finally put them away in Q4. Sun did the opposite, had a huge halftime lead and then tried to give it all away. Somehow the Fever can be competitive against the best teams, but get blown out by most of the mediocre teams? Makes no sense.
