This one is fun. Get it out of Grays hands but she is such a good passer

Ok. Will Katie be the hero?

Blech last play. and Wilson does not miss FT's anymore.

Wow, Storm actually on a losing streak.

Stewie's 35 pts/11 reb not enough. Russell also w/ a double-double 12/11.

Wilson w/ 22 but chilly 7-24 shooting. Gray w/ maybe her best game in an Aces jersey? 21 pts/7 assists 8-13 shooting. Plum 15 off the bench.

Russell actually outproduced Cambage.

Cambage actually seems to be on her best behavior. Maybe to her detriment?

Maybe she used it all up in the previous game. Whining constantly, got T'd up once and was probably lucky she didn't get a 2nd T.

is it just me or has Bird been having a horrible stretch? The past 2 games especially

She started out the season alternating good games and bad games. Then she had a stretch of playing really well. I guess maybe it's evening out now?

I very much hope we get a Vegas/Seattle finals, part 2. I would take 5 games of what we got tonight. So many shot makers on both teams.

Also, really crazy how many #1 picks on both rosters:

Seattle:
Stewart, Loyd, Bird

Vegas:
Wilson, Young, Plum (and Cambage #2)

And then, you have the Indiana Fever...

Las Vegas, and Connecticut 2 good coaches with the 2 best teams. Coaches mean a lot when you get to the playoffs, and Bill and Miller are 2 of the best in the game now. If Hughes hadn't retired, Seattle might have been in the conversation.

You're not betting on a rookie head coach w/ barely even any experience as an assistant coach?

She still has a lot to prove. Seattle could easily have 3 or 4 more losses. When you lose 3 players who contributed for the last 3 years, you need to develop you young players. You might lose a game, but a player like Ezi needs to be on the court. The front office paid for a player who was on her last legs in Indiana. Dupree has nothing left, and shouldn't be playing.

Seattle kept their starting five on the bench too long in second half and the game slipped away.

She's done that before. She's not doing a very good job so far IMO. She's won some games...but she has Stewie, Bird and Loyd in her starting lineup...

She also is playing Stewie, Loyd, and Sue too many minutes. Seattle has 6 players going to the Olympics. That makes an extra long season, you shouldn't play your stars more minutes, but less so they have something left at seasons end.

Good call, Baggerbob.
That's what I'm concerned about for the Storm: having your mainstays play too many minutes during the regular season. If you're going to bring in vets, at least give them minutes to save legs. And all three of those players are headed to the Olympics.

Whitcomb.....:(

BTW, Vicki Johnson figures she has a roster of high-round draft choices at Dallas and would rather have them play hard in 5-7 minute increments. She's playing 10 folks every game. Who's hot sticks in the 4th.
(Arike and Sabally might get the benefit of the doubt....;) ) And the "am I up, am I down"by-product of this approach might unsettle players who are used to knowing roles (Mabrey and Thornton minutes are like roller coasters).

WNBA transactions today

Los Angeles Sparks released Kristine Anigwe»Hardship release
Los Angeles Sparks waived Bria Holmes
Las Vegas Aces waived Joyner Holmes
Minnesota Lynx waived Rachel Banham
Seattle Storm waived Kiana Williams
Indiana Fever signed Chelsey Perry
Washington Mystics waived Megan Gustafson
Washington Mystics waived Kiara Leslie
Washington Mystics waived Stella Johnson
Why is this happening? Some inhuman deadline?

Really sad for Rachel. Thought she found some footing.

From what I have read, on Twitter, If you are on the roster on July 1st your contract is guaranteed for the remainder of the season. You must give 2 days to clear waivers, before official release. Thus all of the transactions I listed happened today, the 28th, and thus gives them 2 days, until the 30th to clear waivers. These players can be resigned for short term periods, for injuries, and or hardships.

The Seattle coach made an error yesterday, IMO. When there was 4.7 seconds left, in the 4th quarter, she had Bird inbound the ball, thus taking away a Bird as a shooter option. I would have had Lou inbound the ball, thus giving Seattle the option of Bird, Stewie or Loyd getting the ball, with Russell as the last option. If there was no play for Lou, the guarding player can slack off her, which I believe Hamby did. Lou inbounds most plays when she is on the court.

The other error, again IMO, was the game the Wings won on the last second 3 by Arike, @Seattle, about 2-3 weeks ago. She took Bird out of the game and had Canada guard Arike. The Storm were up by 2 at that point. You can give up a two and still play OT, you cant give up a 3. I would have put Lou on Arike making it a difficult shot to shoot over her. You want to make it as tough as possible to be beaten on the last second shot. If Arike goes by Lou, then she is going for a game tying shot, not a game winner.
