No. She is evaluating her choices, but she left the state for a reason. I've to assume she visited both campuses more than once and and spoken to both coaches in their offices. Hell, Aliyah Boston lived close to Storrs and visited unofficaily many times, yet chose elsewhere. For a reason. Why not visit other places: Texas, California, or (oh no) South Bend and get a feel for those places. Clearly she chose to visit Storrs first, but why go over familiar ground? She could easily chose Oregon or OSU without ever having another official or unofficial visit.
As usual, logic. A kid that thinks they made a mistake with the first choice should evaluate all choices, THEN and ONLY then, make the next mistake.

Agreed. I ain’t one of the crazy Vol fans y’all speak of!
And trust me the overwhelming majority of us are glad you're here. Yeah, there's still a bunch of baldspots ready to shake a fist at any and all things Vol related, and revel in kicking a carcass on life support. But many of us who remember the era, including Geno, believe it's time to move all that spit along. Your input is always welcome in this house.

Hopefully not a second mistake but wise and great choice for her. Although I would like her choice to be UConn, I just want her to be successful and happy with her choice. It's tough to be young with the overwhelming amount of info, news and advice bombarding you.

Unconfirmed report on VN indicating that another TN player will be transferring: Mimi Collins, a 6'3" sophomore forward. Evidently, she was very close to HW.

I am scratching my head to figure out why Westbrook coming to UConn makes sense for either party. If she is permitted to play in 2019-20 (certainly no sure thing), she would certainly play behind Crystal and Chrystyn, which means that she would come off the bench -- surely not what she wants or could obtain at Oregon or Oregon State.

Then in 2020-21, Christyn would be a sure starter, and Evina would have to compete with Paige and Nika for the other guard slot. She could easily land on the bench for her entire UConn career! Whereas, in Eugene, she could have an almost guaranteed starting slot for two years, playing close to home for a very good coach and a Top 5 team.

So why would she want to come to UConn? And why would Geno want to invite her, knowing that she would never be content as a third guard, and also knowing that she can be troublesome if she is not happy?

One thing that Geno doesn't need is yet another guard.

It may have escaped your notice, but Geno started and played 3 guards this past season: Crystal, Christyn & Lou. Based on everyone who is committed to UConn at this point, Westbrook would be the 5th starter, and it's not even close.

Can you imagine how much more hatred will there be from Tenn fans for Uconn WBB if both Westbrook and Collins shows up in Storrs? World colliding.
So what I am getting from all the different transfer threads is that as soon as someone is rumored to be transferring that they are coming to UConn without an iota of proof...it's just daily speculation to see where the BYers take it.
This is just so much fun. Head bang

after beating out Fernandez on Nika and Ania, taking Laksa would lead to violence.
Not saying it’s ideal. But you could field a starting five of crystal, SQUEAKS, Westbrook, megatron and Olivia when facing smaller teams. It would be against the teams with a coupe of bigs where you’d have issues.

A team with a couple of bigs may not be able to keep up with the pace of that small lineup starting 5 though.

I posted this in another thread after a fellow BYer of yours posted similarly to this opinion, but this “story” of both Evina being “abused” or “viciously and/or relentlessly” attacked on social media AND Evina’s mom’s response have been blown way out of portion. A handful of fans, frustrated with the play of the team under a floundering coach, posted some criticisms of Evina’ skills, her limitations and mistakes...no where did I ever see attacks on her personal character. Evina’s mom made one post in response to a post criticizing Evina’s high TO rate that said (paraphrasing) “well you won’t have to worry about dealing with Evina and her mistakes much longer.” That was it. I say this wanting you to know Evina was my favorite Lady Vol and I was very sad to hear she was leaving. I truly hope she thrives wherever she goes and know without a doubt she’ll get better coaching than she did under the former UT staff. That said, again, this storyline she was viciously abused by many UT fans just isn’t truthful.

Agree, as a member of the Summitt, all other LV boards/groups, and many other WCBB boards (Boneyard, CockTalk, Sicem365, McGraw's Bench, etc.) I didn't see any personal attacks. I did however see lots of posts about turnovers and posters requesting LV need a true point guard, which is crazy. E was my favorite LV player but her shortcomings stem from her ex-coach. If Geno (or any competent coach) gets two years, maybe another if she can't play next year watch out!

BTW - E's mom is still hovering over/a member of the same LV Facebook group that E's mom made that infamous reply to a poster about E's high turnovers. At this point why are you still a member after your daughter announced her transfer...

Oregon St. will have Pivec, Slocum, Goodman and Tudor (hopefully recovered from knee injury) most likely vying for 3 starting slots. There's no guarantee Westbrook would be an immediate starter at OSU. Oregon is probably a different story with less returning experienced back court players.

I don't agree with your premise. Chrystin can easily move over to the 3 and Westbrook can become the 2 and then the 1 when Danger takes a breather. Having those 3 as starters and then Anna coming off the bench would allow UConn to press like crazy and just get in other guards faces since they wouldn't need to conserve energy.

Totally agree. As a LV fan you would know better the specifics since presumably you follow your team more closely than most UCONN fans do. When one poster referred to her mom as a "helicopter mom" - someone that Geno would want no part of, I corrected them with your version of what I understood. That's the ONLY instance where I heard anything about Evina's mom being involved in her hoops career at Tenn. And what parent would have done differently if they were in her mom's shoes anyway?

I think many took the story and blew it out of proportion which is exactly what happens in the 'telephone game' - something gets retold over and over and by the time you get to the end, the story is nothing like the original. Same with the "vicious attacks". I know Vol fans were displeased with her turnovers and mistakes, but I'm not sure if it's any different from UCONN fans' "observations" of Coombs lack of offense or Irwin's lack of athleticism etc.

I say this with love in my heart - I know this is an anonymous message board, but I wish fans would be more careful or do more research before forming and posting opinions about "helicopter mom" or "chemistry problem". There is almost zero evidence of either. The helicopter mom thing was well explained by you. Aside from Evina's answering the Tennessee horde's repeated badgering questions about the coaching etc, she finally admitted that changes were needed. Your story, and the one I just shared are literally the ONLY instances I can find anywhere of evidence to support some of the things posters have said/worried about on here. And the evidence doesn't come close to supporting any of the potentially negative things posters have worried about.

I assume with 99.99% certainty that if she does choose to come to UCONN, fans will realize it's with the complete blessing of the coaching staff AND the team. I would expect fans to be incredibly excited in welcoming her to the UCONN family. And enough with the opinions based on unsubstantiated data.
