Maybe when Evina returns back to Oregon, she will make a day trip to Corvallis and Eugene? Why not, it is only 30 and 45 minutes from Salem, OR?

Really? The young lady is from the state. She's had a good relationship with Rueck from a young age. She's well aware of the qualities, attributes, advantages and disadvantages of playing for either Scott or Kelly. Yet she chose to go to Tennessee.
Geno "CAN" deal with anything. But does he have the inclination, desire, time, to put into a high maintenance player, among all those that need help? Geno doesn't work well with hovering parents.
I've taken a long step back from the idea that her mom is hovering drone. I've rather come to the belief that her mother was protecting her child who was being viciously and relentlessly attacked on social media. Something I would do in defense of mine as well. I see nothing wrong with it, nor do I think her family would be an issue. No, I for one would welcome this young lady with open arms, and I hope she chooses to study under the best offensive mind in WBB.

Jordy:
In regards to your first comment, there might've been some other influences on Westbrook during her initial decision, as I'm sure you recall. There were two other recent Oregon High School graduates playing at Tennessee -- Jamie Nared and Mercedes Russell -- and, as the linked USA Today article points out, all three of them played for the same AAU program. In this case, teammates seem to have had some sway.
Tennessee staying near top of women's basketball thanks to Oregon connection

This is not to say that the prospect of playing for Geno and his staff, alongside other top recruits, won't be a strong(er) allure for Westbrook. But I could see she and her mother hitting the highway for an in-state visit or two. Want to make the second round of decisions tight, right? ;) Will see soon enough.

Evina reevaluated that original decision and is now transferring from Tennessee

You missed his point entirely! She's well aware of where the Oregon and Oregon St. campuses are located and how many minutes it would take to get to each. :)

@LoTrader had a valid point. No matter how familiar she was in the past with these two programs, she needs to look at them again, with older, more experienced (and dare I say jaded) eyes. Her experience at Tennessee will affect how she views other programs, she may be feeling pressure to make the right decision this time. It is in everyone's interest to explore (and re-explore) her options before making a decision.

I posted this in another thread after a fellow BYer of yours posted similarly to this opinion, but this “story” of both Evina being “abused” or “viciously and/or relentlessly” attacked on social media AND Evina’s mom’s response have been blown way out of portion. A handful of fans, frustrated with the play of the team under a floundering coach, posted some criticisms of Evina’ skills, her limitations and mistakes...no where did I ever see attacks on her personal character. Evina’s mom made one post in response to a post criticizing Evina’s high TO rate that said (paraphrasing) “well you won’t have to worry about dealing with Evina and her mistakes much longer.” That was it. I say this wanting you to know Evina was my favorite Lady Vol and I was very sad to hear she was leaving. I truly hope she thrives wherever she goes and know without a doubt she’ll get better coaching than she did under the former UT staff. That said, again, this storyline she was viciously abused by many UT fans just isn’t truthful.

I absolutely did not miss the point @JordyG was making. I don't think it is a "stretch" to think Evina would visit Oregon State "again" since she is very familiar with Coach Rueck, and, her high school backcourt teammate was 4-year OSU starter, Katie McWilliams? On top of that, the University of Oregon just made the Final 4 this year, and, their program is certainly on the upswing. Why wouldn't Evina make a visit to either or both schools when she returns to her home?

You again just don't get it. Do you seriously think she needs your help in locating these two campuses and how long it might take her to get there? Only a complete fool wouldn't think that while she is at home she wouldn't visit at least one of these schools. It's also doubtful that you need to remind anyone here at the Boneyard how well Oregon has done and what their potential appears to be for next season.

...because we don’t want to contemplate she might actually look at or choose another school if UConn is interested. I mean, after all, we ARE UConn fans first and foremost...

I get it. Evina could very well end up a Duck or a Beaver.

Hey, woe down there on the rather aggressive tone. We’re being civilized here!
We regularly see overkill on points being made- for instance not sure if you are aware but we are in the need of some players with height and players in general.
Let’s all just tone down the rhetoric and enjoy the process...;)

After her experience at TN you might think that Evina would carefully consider all of her options, but perhaps she already has, and doesn’t necessarily need to see Eugene and Corvallis to finalize her decision. Just speculation on my part. I believe Evina has already made her decision.

Agree! There were many more fans that were in love with her game and her potential. Every fan base has it's bad apples. Also, it's true that mom was a helicopter. Did mom learn? or will Geno be able to keep her at bay? The helicopter comment has zero to do with any social media comments.

I'd add that these are (obviously) not the same teams that Ms. Westbook was looking at as a high school senior. In Oregon's case, when Westbrook was a senior, Oregon had had only one (relatively) decent season under Graves (unlike OSU under Rueck) and the starting guard spots would likely have been taken (by Cazorla and Ionescu) for what would have been her freshman and sophomore years at Oregon. That isn't the case next year and she could step right in. Does that mean that she will seriously consider the Ducks? Of course not, and in my view it is highly unlikely that she will end up in Eugene. But it might be worth a look.

It was my understanding that Evina was attacked on other social media sites aside from twitter, more than once, and that some of them got a little personal. It was my understanding that Evina's mothers post was a final straw reaction, and yes, it was a single post. I also believe that she has visited both campus' in Oregon a few times. Perhaps it would be more productive of her to visit other places outside of Oregon.

I’m on several sites, including Twitter, Facebook private groups and VolNation. Never saw in any of those any personal attacks. I am not a member of the Summitt tho, so I cannot speak on that site.

No. She is evaluating her choices, but she left the state for a reason. I've to assume she visited both campuses more than once and and spoken to both coaches in their offices. Hell, Aliyah Boston lived close to Storrs and visited unofficaily many times, yet chose elsewhere. For a reason. Why not visit other places: Texas, California, or (oh no) South Bend and get a feel for those places. Clearly she chose to visit Storrs first, but why go over familiar ground? She could easily chose Oregon or OSU without ever having another official or unofficial visit.
