  • Paige - She's so underrated on the defensive end, especially her anticipation. Just crafty and so smart in so many different situations. Hope that she is ok, you never like to see any kid suffer through injury. Perhaps a reminder that we do have bench players, and there's no way they can blow a 20 point lead in two minutes. That's a good time to use them.
  • ONO- I thought she played a good game overall, save for the fouls. When we play undersized teams, there is no reason she shouldn't have a double double like this evening.
  • Ducharme- the highlight of the day for me. She's so long and agile, and has the shooting to keep defenses honest. Even though she didn't score until Q4, we went on a run with her in the game at the end of the first half. I thought her presence opened the floor and created opportunities for others. I most like that she is aggressive and moves with purpose on offense. A lot of our older players seem more comfortable hanging around the outside and passing the ball back and forth until Paige creates something. You could visibly see how Paige's intentions shifted when a second offensive threat emerged in Q4.
Overall, not the breakout performance I would have hoped for, but it did feel like a step in the right direction. A quality win against a legitimate top 20 team. Now the focus shifts to hoping Paige is ok.

Do you me to start?
Or to happen?
To happen?
Me, too.
Man, English is a tough language. Let's try that again, shall we?

A little fidelity to reality please. It was not a "flying elbow" and Paige was not hit anywhere near her face. It was a pushoff and the contact was in Paige's midsection.

I hate to be that visiting fan but let's not spread lies.
It's cool Orang man. I said so in the chat and I stand with you here.

He left Caroline in for a while. For once. She needed the confidence boost and look what she can do. That girl has no problem getting good shots off against top competition and she can shoot. It was only a matter of time for Paige to get hurt. Hopefully it isn't bad and they use this as a teaching moment to get her the heck out of games that are already decided. Hopes and prayers for Paige.
Not afraid of mixing it up under the boards either.

Another great game for Paige carrying this team on her shoulders. Hope she is allright. Nice to see Caroline breakout a little bit and also fight for rebounds.

Turnovers like crazy. Lot's of bad passing. Lots of fouls. The reverse of this and ND would have been left behind. Would like to see improvement in ball handling. ND's shooting was one of the lowest so far for them. So, maybe good defense helped here.

For 3 qtrs. I really was not impressed except for Paige. The rest of the team has my wife shouting at the TV.

Good to see Nika score a 3.

Because she refuses to come out of games?
Come on. If Geno wanted her out at that point he could’ve pulled her and given how she was mauled, it isn’t a crazy idea. The fact that Muhl was having a terrible floor game maybe affected him. But given how she was roughed up, this was a non contact injury with nobody near her as so many knee injuries seem to happen. It might have been just something that was going to happen.

Based on my training and experience, I’m going to say with absolute fact. I have no idea what the injury is or how long it will take to recover. I do however hope the rest of the team steps up in her absents.
It’s pretty hard to replace the best player in the country. Hopefully this isn’t long term.

I am following Nan's edict but there was mulitple head scratching moments.

If it wasn't for Paige's injury and the turnovers, I thought this was the team's best game. Notre Dame is going to win a lot of games.
What edict is that?

The ankle buckled/twisted 1st then the knee to compensate - so the knee didnt take the full brunt. Then, she was able to put weight on it afterwards - good sign. if I had to guess, a hyperextended knee and 4 to 6 weeks recovery.
That's what it looked like to me as well; that the ankle went first then the knee, but you just never know. I'll be nervous until they release the results of the scan I'm sure she'll be getting today/tomorrow.

Overall, really happy with Liv's performance today and Caroline had a breakout Q4. A couple good moments from Nika, and CW was solid at times. Injury aside, that 4Q was some of the best basketball UConn has put together this year.

Will be keeping Paige in my thoughts and sending healing vibes, hoping its not a season-ending injury.

Because she refuses to come out of games?
Sorry Nan, Geno's the head coach and there is no reason for the team's most valuable player who logs more minutes than any other, being on the court at that point in the game........if she was injured during the heat of the battle I could accept this much more easily..........this is not a new thing for Geno and I have lamented about it many times over the years...........totally inexcusable as far as I'm concerned......
