I was just looking at the ESPN 100 list and saw that we gave Dorsey an offer. He's a 6' 4" SG from LA that I haven't seen talked about on these boards. I know he decommitted from Arizona, but does anyone know what's going on with this kid recruitment wise? Are we pursuing him?

He's a high school teammate of Hamilton's, so we talked about him a lot over the last year, up until a couple months ago when we moved in other directions and now you'd have to go back 20+ pages to find his name. I think that offer is old news from a long time ago and he's not in our picture.

He's got a top 5 and we're not in it. Think he used all his officials up as well

I don't think there's been any interest from either side since we got JA

If I remember correct. His father was very involved and issues with him dropping teams

.-.
I read that he was only interested in going somewhere they'd let him run the point, which may be related to his decommitment from Zona.

Saying "we don't want him" is ridiculous. Dorsey's just another case of a kid decommitting and people ensuing to take shots at his character. I'm not going to tell you he's an angel, but the kid is very talented. People took a lot of shots at Boatright's character too, and he's turned out alright. You're crazy if you don't think Kevin Ollie could mold him into a player and person to be proud of.

I have zero problem with his character and don't know why anyone would have had a problem with Boat's character. I would still take Dorsey but my takeaway from watching him in person a couple of times is that he's overrated. Granted my sample size is small with just a couple of games and then videos on youtube.

I think He is stuck on playing point.if I remember that os why he decided commit ed from zona

He'd play the 3 for us lol

Well I'd bet that Arizona told him he could play both guard positions there when they were recruiting him. Then Trier signed and they continued to talk to other PGs too (last week they replaced him with Justin Simon). Considering that Arizona's team is already very talented, Dorsey's role in the offense was definitely in question. These things happen.

Samuel, Cassell, Purvis, Calhoun and Adams all may still be here next year though, so I'm not sure we'd be that great of a fit for him.

According to 247 Ollie is making a push...
UConn making a push for Tyler Dorsey

Most are considering Tyler Dorsey as in the midst of a California and Kansas battle, Connecticut is making a serious push for the athletic combo guard.

6-4, 180-pounds from Los Angeles (Calif.) Maranatha High School, Dorsey has become a focus for UConn since Isaiah Briscoe opted for Kentucky. Head coach Kevin Ollie has strong connections to Southern California, and Dorsey's former teammate Daniel Hamilton is on the Huskies roster.

Ranked No. 27 in the 247Sports Composite, Dorsey thrives at attacking the basket. His size and athleticism make him a quality rebounder and natural foul drawer.

Kansas has a slight edge over California in Dorsey's Crystal Ball.

Was bummed when he committed to Zona. Hopefully it's not to late this time around

interesting... KO could be setting up the three point guard set in a few years.

Do we need a shooter more than a penetrater? Although, it is pretty stupid how they pigeon-hole these kids.

Try for studs first. Then go for three point specialist, rebounders , shot blockers and role players.

sorry to bump an old thread, but has there been any word on our re-involvement with him? seems a big time combo guard would be a necessity given the last week or so.

perhaps KO is now rethinking the Cassell, the Ferrari, TSam etc.
I have no problem him looking at this kid.
As far as getting a shooter - I see many teams looking at those kids (I don't mean to be racist at all) who are from the lily white suburban high schools who all their life practiced shooting from the outside rather than slashing and dunking. There is a place for some of these kids.

Odds are very long, but they are definitely making an effort with Dorsey.

teammate of Hamilton so anything possible but long shot. Playing with Hamilton might be alluring for him if he stays for next year.

Just because they played ball together in HS doesn't mean they want to continue that at the collegiate level. I played with plenty of kids throughout my bball career that I did not wish to play with again.

We jump to conclusions and see teammates and immediately assume they are friends. They may be friends or they may just be good players who used to play on the same team

I don't think anyone assumed anything they just said it couldn't hurt. Maybe, maybe not!

Old Kevin sorely needs some boost in powers of observation.

He is off on pipedream number infinity.

Get a brain on.

This dude is not matriculating huskyville just because the 2 of yo are from south cal.

How did that work when you pursued that 6-11 North American Indian who chose Arizona?

This dude is not playing 2nd harmonica to newrip no way.

Most teammates are not buds. Hello

Let's hire you as recruiting coordinator then. Maybe you can offer some peyote to kids and get them to commit that way.

@AdamZagoria: Two schools that have tried to start re-recruiting @TDORSEY_1 are UConn and Louisville. Sounds like UConn is in mix, but Cards are out.
