Larrier, who is a 3 by the way not a 4.
And he'd get to play with the guy who coached the best 5'9" player in the NBA (by a lot). And another guy who was a PG in the NBA for over a decade. And another guy who won an NCAA title as a PG. Add to that, it's his local team, that won two recent NCAA titles lead by dual PG rosters. There is a lot to sell UConn on here.
From what those more tied in are saying he likes the big stage, and I think UConn isn't what it was in that regard. Anyone who can't see Wichita State as a positive looking at it in that way is deluded. Our stage isn't as bright as it once was. We need more big games against ranked teams.
I can see why he'd want to play for Duke then, but why Kansas? How many marquee games are there on the Big 12 conference schedule?
They don't know anything. You want to talk about homerism. That place is too nice and all about my team only. There is no discussion thereTry looking on the reddit college basketball sub, national perception of the UConn program might surprise you.
I am pretty sure Vital won't go anywhere. He has earned the respect of the coaches. We need Waters because we need him, not because we need to replace Vital. Adams will leave and we'll be short on guards.
I'd view Vital as the guard most secure in status after Adams. Kid is going to be a player. Some people seem to underestimate just how good he was for a frosh.
But we also had giffey to play the three or four or even 5. Roadie only played the four when okwandu as out and AO was at the fiveThe discussion is that Larrier would be playing the 4 similar to how Roscoe and Daniels did, especially if Waters commits.
Uconn needs to get a wing Jeremy Lamb type no good guard is coming to play behind those guys. You cant sell a grad transfer on coming to play back up mins becuase we are going to win a chip when we were so bad last year. We should have our kemba in Jalen our freshman shabazz in AG lets move onWhat's your end game? What are you hoping for? If it were up to you, what would UConn do next?
You go stand in traffic.

This is a great observation. When we were the doormat of the Big East we were "in our place." JC changed all of that and I was elated when I actually heard the media say "we were the dominant team in the Big East in the 90' s" Who would have thought? Fans of the powerhouse Big East teams did not like to see us knock them off their perch; "we did not belong." Then came the begrudging national recognition with 4 championships "we still don't belong." Guess what? We may have had a few bad/tough years but we will arise again as this team is rebuilt, refurbished and reorganized from top to bottom.Program perception is not quite as bad as people here think. You are only talking about diehard college basketball junkies that even spend an ounce of energy on where are UConn is today in the college basketball world. Regular, casual Americans are being spoonfed UConn and the brand by way of the women. The second we are good again, we'll be all the way back.
A lot of psychology goes into the thoughts of a sports fan. Primarily, fans of other programs wish death upon us because we get in their way of titles. Those people want to kill us off and their opinion of our national status is nothing more than wishful thinking. At the moment they are gloating, when we are winning again, they will stop. I do think the Big East brand would help us, but the AAC can be good enough. If we had held up our end of the bargain the last few years, we would have elevated it when combined with the strength of SMU and Cincy.
Waters can be a hero here.

A set of guards of Adams, Gilbert, Vital and Waters. All being led by Adams with a chip on his shoulder. Oh boy, look out.
Tremont and Vital both played for the same aau team at a point in time hes 10x better Vital knows that. Tremont comes hes starting and everyones minutes go down. Vital knows he only played because of AG injury.
If so, we will have the single largest gap between quality of Guards vs Bigs in the entire country. Cuz we got nothing up front. at. all.
Seriously? They put 6 teams in the dance, and three of them KU, Baylor and WVU were top 15 most of the year. OU and Texas were both down, and those are big games just because it's OU and UT. And if you've never been to Allen Field house, you are missing something.
KU nonconference last year. Indiana in Hawaii, Duke in NYC, Georgia in KC, Stanford @ AFH, UNLV, Davidson, Kentucky @Rupp. It's like that every year.
We who watched CV play, contribute, and grow this season were pleasantly surprised and know the same thing he does: he's valuable and valued.
And what's up with you using the word "we" in your following post?

So your solution is nothing? There aren't any wings availableUConn needs to get a wing Jeremy Lamb type no good guard is coming to play behind those guys. I understand your point and largely agree. However, Larrier is a pretty darn nice piece to build a front court around. Yes?
Larrier is probably the best player on the team. So not nothing. I don't know what Diarra, Polley, Cobb and Carlton will bring. There is reason for optimism that Diarra and Polley will be solid, eventually.
Go back and watch larrier first few games this yr. He was a way more than capable rebounderLarrier is a guard. He's not a rebounder or post defender. He plays on offense with the ball in his hands. Ignore his height, think about his skills. That's modern ball.
