As I've said before -- I'll take it, but why does it have to come to this? Why are these talented kids lukewarm at best about UConn?

Whether we land Waters or not -- and it would be a huge get, don't get me wrong -- that's still an issue going forward.

Nope. Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic mechanism, from which one extracts what one needs.

I think tremont is a special case tho. He was pretty much luke warm on anybody not named duke, kentucky, or kansas

Because we had a crap year in a crap conference and seemed bent on putting as much bad press as possible out there?

Have a good year and get some positive press and the narrative changes - that is the challenge for the coaches.

You can pretty much rule us out in the race for Waters. I will be extremely shocked if he signs here as it appears we have backed off tremendously. Tremont was all set and ready to visit, but WKU backed off. Why you may ask? Because his dad is highly involved in this whole process and has been reminiscent of a Lavar Ball light. Nowhere close to Ball level, but a pain none the less. There is a reason Georgetown went in a different direction instead of continuing to pursue him after Ewing met with him too.

Also just for the people belittling WKU a bit. He may not have started at WKU in all honesty and that is not to knock his talent. I don't think he has any illusions the difficulty a 5"10" guard has to make the NBA. But with the recruiting class we have incoming, plus guys who sat out this last year from transfer, we have a decent roster. Former 4* PG Lamonte Bearden who led Buffalo to 2 straight MAC titles and NCAA tournament appearances as a freshman and sophomore is slated to be our starting PG this season. He projects to go pro after this season. Add in #42 ranked player in class of 2017 in SG Josh Anderson, #3 Juco player in the nation in SG Jordan Brangers, with KY Mr Basketball and 3* combo guard Hollingsworth and our back court should be pretty good. Waters would have certainly added to that no question...Bearden likely could have slotted over to 2 guard and Brangers could have come off the bench. But we are not devoid of talent down here in Bowling Green. That is without even mentioning our front court.

Anyways, just letting you guys know that if you truly are in on Waters. You may just be in 2 horse race with Creighton now.

Notice how lukewarm and doubtful you (and a ton of others) are about this team moving forward. And that's from people who would give anything to play for UConn. That perception is gonna be far worse for people who feel way less of a connection to the program

Absolutely flummoxed at this affinity for CV.. Good grief..

Posting stats when comparing a 7th man vs. your #1 option is straight up nerd behavior.. In general comparing anyone via stats is nerd behavior. I work off of the eye test, and CV would not be in my first 10 if I was on this staff. I have coached basketball at the high school level for 10 years and I just don't see things the way this board does recently, this romanticism is utterly ridiculous.

A kid outperforming expectations exponentially while busting his a** all season long, especially during the AAC tourney, when the team had, shall we say, commitment and work ethic issues does nothing for you?

Now I am absolutely flummoxed by that.

And yet you were posting yesterday questioning if we had room for Tremont. You're either a troll or don't know what you are talking about, possibly both.

I must have missed that time when Jalen was our #1 option his freshman year. You know, the year people are using to compare him to Vital.

Other than that, no disrespect but I think you need to get your eyes checked.

Do you teach off ball defense? Because CVs is excellent. Do you coach kids to hustle? Because CV does.

Everyone realizes that Jalen is a better player and has a much higher ceiling that isn't an idiot.

You are a fool too if you don't think that CV can't be a great third guard.
 
He might be a good 3rd guard on a team in C-USA.. His defense is overrated, he didn't lock up ANYONE when it mattered.. Where was his defense against Cincy and SMU?

I swear it's like i'm on a different planet right now.
