My guess is that Mora thought that Evers had a much higher ceiling and was force feeding his development. After UAB it was impossible to ignore the effect that Fagnano had on the offense.
Nothing wrong with that approach. But it proved to be incorrect (at least in the short term).
There was quite a bit wrong with the approach because it was obvious to almost all who was better. In fact it got kinda awkward. The UAB game presented a nice bail out point though.
On the other hand it’s possible that Mora looked at the quality of the opponents and figured it didn’t matter much who started. Which in retrospect was more right than wrong. I wish Fagnano started against Maryland, Duke and Wake.
I think we would have won at least one more if not two more games.
