QB Cole Welliver enters Transfer Portal

The poster in question has a very long history of predicting us going unbeaten just before the start of each season.
I'm well aware of Dan's prognostications. I was attempting to be humorous.

In my law firm, everyone laughs at my jokes. I'm now going to have to reconsider whether that's because I'm really funny or they're just sucking up to a senior partner.

I'll award the mulligan. It's the off-season after all, and neither of us are in "game shape" yet. But regarding the folks at your law firm? A healthy level of suspicion is always the right strategy...

Can be a disaster if Joe F. gets hurt , especially if it's early in the season.
Along with an experienced Evers…Mcdonald has been in the program a couple years…and they have the true freshman.

I keep forgetting Evers wasn’t on the team until this time last year. He really didn’t get much time to learn. I am hoping we see a much better player this year….and a stronger player.

I'm pretty sure that I already know the answer.

If our QB room didn't consist of a QB who only got the starting gig because the starting QB from last year got hurt, a QB who looked awful last year, and a bunch of lesser known QBs, I'd feel ok about this. Seeing how our QB room DOES consist of what I listed above, losing Welliver makes me angry. However, maybe he wasn't as good as we thought. I just worry he'll head somewhere else and blow up.

Wish the kid the best. As many here said, this is the new norm. If a top level recruit doesn't start by year two, they're gone. Seems Cole wasn't even going to be QB 2.

Why would you care how Fagnano got the starting gig, as opposed to the numbers he put up once he got it?

The kid was a Charlton recruit and it’s glaringly obviously Sammis is super adamant on having a QB that can move (Started Evers for way too long, recruited Farrar who had a lot of rushing yards in high school). It wouldn’t take much analysis to see that Cole doesn’t quite fit that mold. Joe can get by at least. Unless he was too good to pass up, the chances Cole was getting in games were low.

How many schools are going in to Fall camp with more than one known QB?

It makes you angry to lose one of those lesser known QBs?...would it make you angry if it was McDonald? What about K2?

Who, specifically, said he didn't want to compete? That's pretty damning for any athlete.
The same person that told me in December after the bowl win he probably wouldn’t be here in the fall.

Unfortunate but not unexpected. No doubt Mora will talk him up and he will land somewhere he can thrive.

Was hoping that place would be right here. Disappointed like everyone else

It took the best QB play in a decade to " beat out " an uninspiring and unaccomplished Evers, and even then Mora tried everything to force him on the field

Given that, do you think Welliver standed any chance of removing him from QB 2? He was given the scout team from the git go this spring and never got the chance to work with the twos.

Getting buried behind Evers after what we saw last year would make this the least surprising move he could have made. In any case I wish him well. Too talented to sit around wondering what could have been.

Now that was a good joke!

(because all good jokes need an element of truth to them)
