Not a spitting match but it is a big deal. Faganano being back means absolutely nothing about depth at the position. If he gets taken out that leaves a serious void. Its not as big of a deal since fagnano is back. The reality is that even if Welliver started this year and played well we'd probably be looking for a new QB the year after, anyway after some P4 program offered him a giant bag of cash. You can only focus on year to year rosters now.
Not easy to wait your turn these days. I think Fagano is on his 7th year !! Not sure if he can apply for an 8th season. How do you know he was the most talented passer on the roster? Maybe strongest arm, but if he wasn't reading defenses and moving the offense as Fagnano did, then he wasn't the most talented passer in 2025. In today's day and age, kids don't wait their turn. I don't begrudge him, wish him luck but each year is it's own year and a new qb will be in here next year to possibly run the team if McDonald or Farrar are not the guys.
If ancient means committing and honoring your commitment to your school and teammates, then I guess I chose live in a time where integrity matters. That is ancient thinking. They are finally able to make some money on the value they bring to the school.
ESPECIALLY the guys that aren't sure fire NFL. Get it while they can.
Their degree isnt going to get you a salary even close to start.
Good for them.
Ok grandpa. If ancient means committing and honoring your commitment to your school and teammates, then I guess I chose live in a time where integrity matters.
How do you think we landed about half of our starters from last season? If ancient means committing and honoring your commitment to your school and teammates, then I guess I chose live in a time where integrity matters.
I doubt he ever pledged to stay five years at an independent UConn.honoring your commitment
I don't know about pissed, but I'm definitely disappointed.Pi$$ed about this..

Randy at Maryland in his last season went five deep at QB due to injuries. The last one being a linebacker that played some QB in high school.
We lose serious depth here. I wish him well.
Please supply the source of your inside info.No big loss. Kid didnt want to compete and there's a reason he was still QB3 during the spring
My source is the media. He was taking 3rd string reps and couldn’t beat out Evers then transferred. Not that hard to figure out. Please supply the source of your inside info.
The portal makes it easy to not wait your turn. Add in NIL, how do you show your value sitting on the bench. Right now you only have 5 years to make money, you can’t burn 2 of them not playing and only get entry level NIL for 3 years, hoping for bank in years 4 and 5.Not easy to wait your turn these days.

Agreed but that doesn’t mean he “doesn’t want to compete.” He’s gonna go somewhere else and compete there.
And given how long a rope they gave Evers last year when it was clear Fagnano gave us the best chance to win, I don’t have blind faith that they both gave welliver a real shot and made the right decision.
Not panicking, in today’s college football gonna be very difficult for us to recruit a qb out of high school and develop them while also winning. And better recruits than welliver have turned out to not be good college players. But to me this is still bad news
