Talk about a team that has been under the radar all year. I just heard an ESPN guy say "when did the committee finally realize that SMU is pretty good?". That's classic coming from a guy on a network who has ignored them all year.

I didn’t realize that the 8347th highest compensated guy at ESPN was responsible for its programming decisions.

I think you missed the point. It's not about programming, it's about commentators ragging on the committee for not giving SMU credit, when these same guys haven't talked them up either. Hard to point fingers at someone who has done the same thing he has been doing.

ESPN reported: "Alabama is 3-1 against current top-25 teams and Miami is 0-1. Alabama is 6-1 against teams above .500 and Miami is 4-2. Both have had some losses that weren't what they wanted out of those games, but in the last three games, Miami has lost twice." CFP Selection Committee Chair Warde Manuel on why Alabama is ranked above Miami in the latest CFP rankings. (this is from our former UConn rock star)

The ACC & Big XII are one bid leagues, the G5 also has a bid, the rest.... SEC/Big Ten & Notre Dame (and I know it's the feature/goal, not a bug/mistake).

That said... if you were going to take a 3 loss SEC team, Ole Miss was a better choice than Bama.

Miami didn't have any bad losses, but they never really got a chance for a big win. Manuel also said it's possible that SMU could drop past Alabama if they lose in the ACC title game. I would hate to see that happen, but it wouldn't shock me. We all know this, but if you aren't in the SEC or BIG, you have no room for error.

If SMU loses I fully expect them to drop out.

This system is better than what we had before but I would love to see FBS go to a 24 team system like in FCS.

SMU is win to get in. Then they get a Bye. What would be wild is if Boise State loses to UNLV. Boise State in all likelihood would be out.

SMU is like Indiana. They played a really ez schedule. If they Lose, they’ve no biz being in. Indiana has no business being there, period. They played 1 good team and got b* slapped

FWIW I looked over the schedules and remembered some of the games I watched. Interesting how the Committee can get some things right but how their bias creeps in when they choose to ignore what happens on the field. Alabama being the most egregious. Fans also fall into the trap of a recent win or loss and want to ignore 2/3 of the season's performance. Here's what I came up with. I feel like there's a definite cutoff around 12-13 in terms of records but that's not how this works.

Alabama knocks Ohio State off the number 1 spot it's had for weeks. Could the top rated team actually not make the playoffs?

One more sim to go -- when the actual bracket is announced!

Boise State beats UNLV 21-7 so no surprise there. Game was one-sided until 4th quarter. UNLV had chance to make a touchdown earlier but running back ran out of gas on long run and then UNLV had penalty (delay or illegal procedure) and never scored on that possession.
