They only got two teams in because Clemson won. The conferences are about the same imo

Iowa State was never going to get a spot in the playoffs regardless of Clemson's outcome, but you're correct about the traditional big 12 football teams that argued against adding UConn.

UConn should have waited until after this season to join the 12.. That first game in August versus Maryland looked really bad. Pushing an 8-4 team looks much better

The committee made it clear, getting to a conference championship game and playing well is slightly more important than strength of schedule.
Bama can quit their whining, and might have wanted to beat a crappy OU team and Vandy. On the other hand, a blah OOC schedule, soft in-conference schedule, and only 1 top 25 opponent did the trick for $MU. Happy medium solution, TBD ???

My favorite is the Big 12 presidents scoffing at UConn, acting as if they're some football juggernaut. They only got one playoff team — a team that joined because of the Pac-12 collapse. Maybe they should take a look in the mirror and consider that Yormark might be onto something. This also begs the question: is the ACC really in jeopardy? They appear to be the superior/more respected football conference of the two by the selectees..
The ACC is in jeopardy because they have some teams others would want. No one wants the big 12 teams, so little chance of it collapsing.

Optics matter... speaking of which announcers tonights game vs. Texas said that SEC made a bball commitment (hmmmmm) and are 14-3 vs acc? I may have heard that wrong but they are up big over ACC this year. Apparently SEC cares about Bball too. But Oklahoma State is super important in football, bball and academics and their President believes they are above UConn. Speaking of Optics Big12 football is part of the G5.

Bama played Wisconsin and 3 cupcakes. Their OOC schedule is always a joke so they can brag about beating up on SEC teams as a self fulfilling prophecy of their greatness. They lost to Vandy and Oklahoma, two teams that at best are mediocre this year. You want to be in the playoffs, don't lose to 6-6 teams.

That was my favorite part of the Bama AD talking about how they’d change their scheduling philosophy to rack up wins… how about starting by scoring more points against a middling Oklahoma team then Maine…

They scored 3 against OK. That alone should have made them ineligible for the playoffs.

It basically did. If they played 1/2 decent in that game they’re probably in. Getting dominated for 60 mins by a mediocre at best team was a death sentence.

We led that game for 52 seconds and we were tied for 18 minutes.

Then we lost 59-14.
