A great point guard. Are you implying Kidd wouldn't be elite in today's NBA? I think Kidd is a star in any era.

I honestly don't know. I think it's possible he would be because of how smart of a player he was - the post game is a lost art among point guards and that's where Kidd could have cornered a market whereas a guy like Rondo was chased out. If Andre Miller can stay relevant for as long as he did, it's probably not a stretch to think Kidd would still be a star. He was also a beast defensively late into his career - he constantly switched onto Durant and LeBron and locked them down during the 2011 run.

Rather lose with people I respect than ones I don't (more about Father and jerk brother) so it's only a matter of time

So the kid doesn't get a chance to be judged as his own man?

.-.
Better his Dad than mine
Too bad for the young guy and his brothers
Seeing the old pain in the arse likes the limelight - he should grab a whistle and start officiating some AAC games
I feel for the kids but if they buy into it - shame on them

this is why I hate twitter.

Its the new accepted form of communication over the internet that only encourages trolling. With Twitter's system, its really only all about how many retweets and likes you get, as long as you get people talking his plan works, and he is good enough at trolling that people have taken notice.

It's pretty clear all along he has been using the Kardashian model for success. Be polarizing, be outspoken, and make sure everyone either hates you or loves you, no in between because tweeners dont share the story.

He hasn't accomplished anything and put a huge target on his back

He had 8 points in the PAC-12 semi game. The kid is a total &$@%, father and jerk brother even worse

People will root for his failure, which never helps. I doubt they even get their $$ beyond his rookie deal. Teams will be crazy taking this circus act. He'll fall hard on draft night. Father is such an idiot.

Yeah I feel for Lonzo Ball. Can't imagine how rough life is right now.

To what end? I mean, the reason the Kardashians are so miraculous is because they have no discernible talent whatsoever, yet they've built a half a billion dollar empire.

This kid's going to be a top 3 draft pick whether or not Lavar Ball ever discovered the internet, and no amount of tweeting is going to put LiAngelo Ball in the NBA.

.-.
I disagree. Teams will back off of this circus act. The kid is a jerk and the brother and father are worse.

NBA coaches and GMs won't deal with this. He's not a can't miss.

The father doesn't get it. The kid scored 8 points in a semi PAC-12 loss. Such an unlikeable player and kid, family.

You are right, there is a clear talent disparity between the two groups, but you can clearly see his goal is to upset and inflamme the public, because its doubly true on twitter that there really is "No such thing as bad press".

Just the brand growth of the word/name "Ball" and its obvious marketability have grown tremendously from all the talk this behavior has generated. I had people who dont even watch bball mention this to me from Social media.

The kid is a trememdous talent. The father reminds me of the Williams sisters father. Id draft the kid in a heartbeat and the father wouldnt be an issue at all.

No way. Father will be chirping day one and minute he doesn't like something and how he"ll sign somewhere else.

The kid is a total jerk. The father is more of a jerk, and the younger brother is a Tier 1 jerk.

Best thing is wherever he goes NBA guys will go 110% after the kid. Kid will be a huge bust. If I was a NBA coach I'd double team this jerk on every possession.

I could say this is ridiculous and call you out for the 100th time but I've realized that does nothing.. Lets make some type of bet if you really feel this strongly. If he is top 3, you stop posting here and if falls out of the top 3, I'll stop posting here.

Wait, didn't you just create a thread insulting UConn fans or something?

My thing is 2 fold with Ball:

1) I can see him falling because GMs don't want to deal with his "brand" and other stuff and idiot father chirping

2) he'll be a huge bust, because he's not an elite player, and other teams will go hard at him because they hate his act

If he goes high even, #2 is a definite

This is what bothers me about your take. He has no "act." He is extremely quiet, supposedly an excellent student and good all around kid and has done nothing to warrant this label. If you think he is overrated, fine. But to paint him as a bad dude because his father is outspoken and because his brother once made a halfcourt shot is absolutely insane. And no, you are confusing me with another poster.

Kid is so overrated.

Hopefully if C's don't get #1 (Fultz) they don't go anywhere near this circus act joke.

Lonzo Ball is a very good player and will probably go top 5 in the draft, but he is no Lebron James or Stephen Curry, so the old man should just STFU. By they time the youngest kid gets to college the entire family will be hated.

.-.
That idiot father claims he was an "NFL"
player pro athlete as such but never made a 53 man roster
Im actually with you on this. While although its petty to gripe that a pro athlete never technically made a 53 man roster, its far more petty to be an athlete and stretch the truth about your career. If you dont need to make a roster to be considered an "NFL player", then hell the whole concessions staff spent a good deal of time in the NFL too.

Nobody is Lebron James. But when Curry was this kid's age he had three years of college ahead of him and no one would have predicted he'd become what he's become. So you shouldn't let your apparent hatred for the kid's father to blind you to the possibility that this kid will be one of the very best players in the league sooner rather than later. The kid's got a feel for the game that very few players have.

(His middle brother has zero shot at the league and his youngest needs a massive growth spurt.)

They already are. When that jerk kid stood 1/2 court for the whole game to raise his stats I think it became more public to those who follow this stuff.

I just think the NBA guys will be like, "oh, we're playing that Ball kid who said he's better than MJ. Locking him down tonight."

He'll be a huge bust.

That's fair enough. I agree with the "no bad press" but having seen Lavar in action a couple times I'm hesitant to ascribe it to some grand strategy. Maybe I'm not giving the dude enough credit. I will say that when you see them at UCLA the family could not seem more normal.

Its really Lonzo and no one else, his brothers are only riding his coattails and dont have a shot at the league or even college stardom in my opinion. But the fact that their father's outlandish behavior is apparently so successful that we know their names, and are discussing them on a major message board all the way on the west coast is all the proof you need. One of them got a UCLA offer just to get big bro on board, and Im sure the last one will get the Seth Curry treatment at the very least if UCLA decides not to complete the trinity.

Lavar dad got his 2nd and 3rd sons those schollies and future hype before they even step on the court.

I have a hard time believing a team would pass on a kid simply because the father is a loon. As long as the player isn't high mantainance, why would they care? They don't have to deal with the father.
