It kind of hit me the other day that the Northeast, New England in particular, might lose interest in college ball all together. It just isn't compelling right now.

A P5 conference, be it ACC or B1G can revive it, but they need UCONN to do it. This isn't a myopic view either. Without UCONN, the sizzle in that area is just gone and a lot of eyeballs are going away with it. In so many ways, UCONN is the missing link in Northeastern sports. The link between western PA and the Coast, the link between Cuse and NYC, the link between Boston and NY etc. There is a gaping whole in the marketplace.

Just because ZLS is a UConn fan and the Providence interloper is not, does not mean we have to jump off the same silly bridge ZLS jumps off every time one of these threads pops up. We are in a southern mid-major conference with a bunch of schools no casual UConn fan cares about and we make less than 50% on our conference TV contract (despite having a football program) than PC makes on its conference TV contract. Arguing that we are better off playing USF and UCF and Tulane instead of northern schools that we played for over 30 years that have Final Four banners is a silly argument every time ZLS makes it.

The only reason that the American is not CUSA when it comes to basketball is UConn, and this awful league is dragging us down while ZLS blows kisses in every thread to the network that got us here.
You make these comments like there are people sitting around loving our conference situation. Everyone hates it. Everyone. But that does not mean letting some loser who roots for a team that has won absolutely nothing come in here and brag about -- I don't even know what he's bragging about. Conference RPI? I guess? I mean, we all remember the Big East's RPI in the Dream Season, right?

This thread was to point out the very low ratings that the NBE receives on Fox1. Everything said is true. PC fans get their knickers in a knot when anything negative is said, here, about them, or their league. But, it's all true.
PC might be having a better year, this year, than UConn is having. But, the year isn't over yet. We still are defending champs. Also, speaking of TV, and the so called weak AAC, I might point out, to our detractors, that Saturday's game between UConn & SMU is ESPN's gameday. Has PC ever been featured on gameday? UConn makes it every year. Also, in early March, the return match will be televised by the regular CBS . 2nd time this year. When was the last time PC was featured on CBS on a Sat/Sunday afternoon? 4 NC's vs a team that hasn't won an NCAA tourney game in well over 10 years. No call to argue PC merits vs UConn's. It's no contest.
Lastly, PC folk get all upset if anything negative is said, here, about them. I might remind them that what is said, here, about PC, pales in comparison to what is said about UConn, on PC's board.

How can one have schadenfreude toward a program one couldn't give two sh!ts about. It's just these brain dead PC trolls. How can we say goodbye when they won't go away?

Its going to take a while before Fox College Hoops picks up better ratings. ESPN is ingrained on the average sports fans' mind and its going to take a lot of work and good programming to convince people to watch Fox Sports 1. Big East alone is clearly not enough. Its hard to compete against the ESPN, ABCs, and CBSs of the World. They got some good contracts coming up their way (FIFA and MLS Soccer) but they need more.

Competition is good, and we are the winners in all of this. I think having more role players in CBB than ESPN/Disney is good for the sport
If there was a reasonable discussion taking place this would be salient point about the topic. But we should not interrupt the preferable choice of posters shiiiting on one another. Or should I say p*ssing on one another. Because that was the primary purpose long before sean refused to offer a bucket of warm p*ss.

Back to my point ...

The Northeast won't be abandoned. The EYEBALLS are valuable. And, I am certain no one thought the BE implosion would leave such a wide open field. Don't tell me that the NBE has the capacity to fill it ... the numbers say no. Syracuse has not brought compelling matchups to take the UNC/UVA/Duke interest in. Rutgers or Penn State? NOPE. Someone can figure out how to capture this ... and this also bleeds into Football. We are into that discussion.

That, NM, is simply why we could not go with the Catholics. (plus we have repeatedly seen the Private College partners we are tied to screw us)

There's a whole NBE league that would be backflipping for a FF slot.
Any NBE team not named Marquette would be doing backflips just for making just the Elite Eight.

Speaking of "move along", didn't you say a couple years ago that if UConn went back to kicking ass in 2014 you would stay off the boneyard for a year?
Maybe you should honor your word.

Never posted that.

I love going into Gampel and looking up at all those banners listing our conference RPI over the years. So many memories.

Do you enjoy gazing at the plaque for the 20 win season as well?

This is an awkward thread because I think these guys think they are on the women's board? They can't possibly still be here thinking they have a men's program which could even be int he same discussion with ours can they? I mean how embarrassed do you need to get before you actually just stay away for a while. You're here guys, the UConn board we're not over there with Richard C and crew wondering when the next Jimmy Walker or Ernie D is coming to PC. We could care less, get it, don't care who you are or what league you play in. You are Not national - you are URI, UMass, Bryant - not UConn. Now please go crochet a hat for Ed Cooley will ya.

We'll get Ed Cooley a hat; right after you get KO a divorce attorney. See, I can go into the gutter too

Divorce happens.

So Catholic of you to piss on other's misfortune. And NO ... Ed Cooley wouldn't get to sit in our guys chair. For PC, he's better than most of your hires since Pitino.

Sean is never leaving, that would require him finding a life outside of spending his days on a message board of a team not in his own conference or on his team's schedule.

I am not holding my breath.

Divorce does happen. So do physical maladies. I notice you didn't chastise your own for taking a shot at Cooley. Hypocrite much?

Believe me Seanzo the PC board loves to refer to Calhoun as mumbles. Also, a thread on PC's board mocking Ollie on his divorce. You guys aren't saints either.

Back to this one again? If we didn't have actual banners, you might be on to something. Instead, you are who you always are.

No lie, Seanzo. Just a play on words. It was one of the many anti UConn threads, started by PC's extremely charming fan base. In that thread Ollie's divorce was painted in a not too complimentary mode by numerous PC posters. Just like you earlier in this thread.
If I were to lie, I would predict your Orioles will win the World Series this year.
Or, I would say that PC folk aren't jealous of UConn's accomplishments over the past 28 years!!
Or, better yet, PC will win a NC in hoops during your lifetime, Seanzo!!! Now, that would be a whopper!!!

I remember seeing it and thinking "F these if they come back over here trying to talk hoops." UMass had a worse one, if it makes you feel any better about your place in the world.

I could care less what Ed Cooley has on his head. It just doesn't even register with me. In fact, quite frankly, the entire Providence College program has slipped off into the sunset. Will Butler ... or St. John's ... or Marquette ... rise again? Maybe. But, I am absolutely MORE focused on the Cartel grab of seemingly more power in this industry. Ballsy ... and not nice in any Academic setting. I see a delineation that leads to degrading the March tournament.

Divorce - I can tell you - is a whole nother matter.

As for the NBE TV numbers? You can't argue with numbers. The NBE produces nothing that moves the needle; you are what your record says. They took the BIG contract with Fox; they will - IMHO - continue to wallow in no man's land.

Tell ya what short stack; why don't you post a link to the thread, if it's as vicious as you guys say, I'll leave. Remember, yon-zo said we had a thread dedicated to ripping Ollie for his divorce. I'll wait...

The nickname is Mumbles. A name I've never used. Before you get too sanctimonious; what do you guys refer to Calipari and K as?
