PC just re-upped a series with UMass, they already have BC and URI in long term deals. Do you think Ollie would do a Mohegan Sun game?

I do not think it is at the top of the list to get done.

We have home and homes with Arizona, Georgetown and Ohio State coming up and they are trying to renew the Florida one.

We are at Texas also next year, and in the Battle for Atlantis which is loaded.

Beyond this the focus has been getting Nova, Cuse or St. Johns to do series, or in the case of Cuse and St. John neutrals at the Garden.

Maybe I am wrong but I think a neutral or a home/neutral series at the Garden would peak their interest more than a game at Mohegan.

Providence would be better for our RPI than Coppin State, I'll say that much.

The Big East dominated its OOC schedule, that's why is up there in the RPI. It has almost a .760 WPCT which is right on par with the old Big East... They also have great players... Its not about that

Don't you realize that it IS ESPN that creates the hype around players and teams. They have the power to build a brand or to destroy it by simply not talking about it and ignoring it. Whatever ESPN says everyone else follows. The current Big East has a ton of great players of top tier quality... but Fox Sports 1 doesn't have the market and influence to draw attention to them. Doug McDermott was lucky last year that he had some hype around him.

If the Big East was ESPN's property I'm sure they would be building hype around a team like Butler who no one expected them to be good this year. Butler has Darrum Hilliard/Dunham/Alex Barlow, Georgetown has Smith-River and Joshua Smith. St. John's has Sir'Dominic Pointer, Obekpa, and Harrison... Villanova is a final four caliber team who no ones know about (guess why) and the list goes on... You can definitely build some hype around these players if you had the influence, which Fox Sports does not.... and ESPN has no interests in hyping a competitors property.

yet we need to hear the entire day how the Duke vs North Carolina rivalry is the best rivalry in all of sports... That the Red Sox vs Yankess have nothing on this and blah blah. Are you freaking kidding me? ESPN is the biggest joke ever.

Are you all not really aware about how powerful ESPN is yet?

We should be grateful that Connecticut is still able to compete and gets some coverage despite not being in the Power-5. I hope that doesn't go away

But we should all be rooting for more competition in the marketing of College Sports. ESPN needs to lose some influence or else College Sports are forever going to be dictated by whatever ESPN wants
Me thinks some of these dudes that are razzing the PC guys understand your point. It's just more fun for them to razz one another.

On the serious note the best thing for UConn is the development of other sports networks. At the least there will be more bidding when the AAC contract comes up for renewal (assuming some positive things happen for the conference) and there would be an increased chance the "Giant" would try to influence other conferences to poach some AAC members and UConn is still attractive imo.

Ollie mentioned PC as a possible future opponent at a press conference, regarding possible future opponents, a few months ago. Georgetown is scheduled over the next two seasons. Plus, Jay Wright mentioned a UConn-Nova series was in the works.
I doubt UConn would schedule more than 1 Big East team in a particular season. Therefore, should a UConn-PC series take place, it won't be for at least 4-5 years.
As far as Mohegan Sun, the men haven't played there yet. I don't think the men desire to play there. If a UConn-PC series took place, my guess is the games would be in Hartford & Providence. Both arenas have larger capacities than Mohegan.

Seems like a bit of an overkill on the New England schools, no? URI is a program on the rise, but I'd want no part of playing BC or UMass if I were PC. I would think with this recent surge, they should be able to schedule nationally moving forward.

Don't know that there would be much in it for UCONN. BC/ UCONN relationship is not the best.

I wish this thread would end really sick of hearing how some of the least east; NBE; or C7 are doing . Record wise or how many eyeballs are watching. That conference is dead to me.

the big east has 5 hours of coverage today on fox
I wonder if they will break their own record for the lowest rated college basketball games ever on network television.

Right now, SJU/Seton Hall playing in a nice looking high school gym on national TV.

Didn't the defending national champs just play in front of 3,500 strong at Houston?

Are you comparing a U, if Houston home game to a "flagship" conference program in "the greatest city in the world" playing on a Saturday afternoon????

Why aren't they at MSG? (A: not worth it)

Hard to believe this is the same Houston team that sold out the Astrodome in 1968 for a game vs UCLA (Elvin Hayes vs Lou Alcindor).
But, getting back to your thoughts, Sean, I would rather be a defending champ, playing anywhere, than be a fan of a team that hasn't won an NCAA tourney game since the late 90's.

Yo nick,
No argument there. I just find it funny that a fan of a conference full of bandbox gyms is pointing out a bandbox gym

Wait a minute, ZLS. You can't expect a Pee Cee men's BB game to compete with a game where Okie U's Sherri Coale is getting some significant camera time. You're being unfair, here. Sherri has always been a babe, and now she's a cougar babe. Nobody should be ridiculed for getting smoked in the TV ratings by her.

You do realize that you are comparing prime time on a major sports network to a weather induced reschedule on a Thursday afternoon, right?

Why don't we compare crowd size at the BE tourney vs the AAC tourney this year?

There ought to be enough unemployed drunk pee cee alumni frequenting bars in Providence and its environs on any given Thursday afternoon to beat out most any women's BB telecast in the TV ratings.
