OT: Big East Basketball Not Scoring For Fox/Fox Sports 1

I don't have any of those expectations and never have. I came on this thread to talk about Fox Sports.

I was referring to the other guy. My apologies.

Like I have mentioned many times in other threads, it was about the best landing the C7 could have possibly hoped for.

Wait, wait, wait...are you forgetting about how the C7 got all snooty (snooty? snotty.) when Tulane got invited and decided to break off? They could have stuck with what was left and still been on ESPN- still had people watching their games.

Don't act like you were forced to go to Fox...you guys chased after a guaranteed $4 million/year, which is about $2.5 million more than the AAC makes (EXCEPT UConn, which has several contracts that push it to basically the same total, not that its ever stopped y'all from acting like you make way more). Nobody made you go to Fox. Providence saw $4 million/year and ran to it, even if it meant inviting a school in Nebraska, even if it hurt your overall exposure, even if it was structured on a lie.

The C7 made that massive mistake all on your own. Own it. You've got $4 million a year though!

My experience is that a company like Fox could pull the PLUG with those numbers. Think about it. It's really not that long a deal in the grand scheme. If ESPN is full, where will the BE go? The Pac12 will have a landing spot (time element). The content people may be all full.

Fox won't pull the plug on it, but if they get part of the Big Ten (they will be a major player in chasing that), then bye-bye to all that Big East promotion. All those slots are instantly Big Ten slots and instantly improve their ratings.

Their urgency in chasing the Big Ten is accelerated by how bad the Big East is. So they have themselves to thank for that, too. Enjoy FS2!

Not even remotely, totally depressing. Although it will all come down as usual to how both conferences perform in March.

Which in Providence's case, means no wins since 1997.

I'd rather be a message board loser on my own team's board than a guy who spends hours trolling his rival's board.
Did you just call Providence a rival?!?!? Now you've done it.....they'll never leave!

you guys are the basketball version of the girl who leaves her husband and then continues to obsess about him. The NBE is fine without UConn. I'm sure you are fine with your new rivalries with East Carolina, Tulane and Central Florida. Move along.

No sean, we're the girl who leaves her husband and then laughs about him with all of our friends! But, even if we play along with your little analogy, aren't you the "husband" who constantly has to write and visit to tell her that you're not obsessed with her anymore?

The Big East is #2 in conference RPI with 3 teams in the top 25; looking at 5-6 bids. Doing fine thx. We don't need a borderline top 100 team

Neither did we, but we had to play Providence all those years just the same.

it's about content, the NBE is quality sports programming whether or not the eyeballs are there. trust me, when the BE championship rolls around, people will tune in

I mean once in a while he shows a small bit of promise. Then he goes back to being a dope who actually believes calling us a "borderline top 100 team" suddenly takes away the fact we won a NC last year and 4 in the last 15. That can't be as good as 15 NIT appearances though can it - WTF was I thinking?

I'm sorry if the truth hurts; but we are dealing with THIS year. The thread is about ratings and performance THIS year. If we are talking last 20 years; I'd trade with UConn in a second. THIS year? I wouldn't trade you a bucket of warm piss for your season.

Trust me they will not, they did not last year.

The Championship game ratings was down 80% in 2014 from 2013.

The entire NBE tournament in 2014 ratings were beyond terrible.

I must have forgotton Providence's long history with Creighton and Butler and Xavier and DePaul.

Don't you get it? UConn fans KNOW there's little shared history between UConn and the AAC teams. Providence fans point to a long history with 3 or 4 Big East programs and just ignores that they have almost no history playing the rest of them. They think it's still 1975 and DeGregorio is walking through that door.

F'Yeah we left that trash of a conference and if the BE played football so would you. I'm damn glad we left. I could care less that some bar in Florida does not have FS1 up on their screens, or some casual fan instantly turns on ESPN. I live in Seattle and I get to watch EVERY PC game on TV without buying a special college basketball package or firing up my laptop. BE ratings are up 60% over last year and if the teams can perform in March they will be higher. The BE's future is bright, and recruiting backs this up. PC is in a league that with a little luck they can challenge for the title year after year and make the NCAA's.

Let me say this so I'm clear. Neither I nor any of the other PC fans miss not seeing any of our non-conference games on ESPN, nor the 2-3 times we managed to make it to ESPN2 or U.

Taking 1 season over 20 is the same sort of short-sighted idiocy that leads to stuff like "Yeah, let's go to Fox!"

Do you realize how arrogant this sounds? Where does that arrogance come from?

UCF and Tulsa have more NCAA appearances than Providence does in the last 20 years. USF has more tournament wins! And you want to talk about how you didn't get enough coverage?

You.
Didn't.
Deserve.
It.

If I sleep with Kate Upton tonight, the number of supermodels I have slept with will be 100% more than last year. Unless you want to haggle over the increase from 0 to 1.

The point is: you're an idiot.

Apparently neither does the rest of the country.

PC's game Saturday is not on in Boston and I have the added comcast "sports package". The same can be said for every PC game not on FS1 or Fox which is a lot of them.

Oh and 3 classes in the top 40 is not exactly killing it as a whole, especially when the SEC has 8, American has 4, and PAC 10 has 6.

Wholly crap, you spend numerous posts trashing us, the conference the, network... I could care less what it sounds like. None of the schools in that conference we should have "stayed" in according to you have anything in common with the C7. We don't play football! We never will! The BE schools have an even playing field and the setup of the round robin schedule is perfect. You chose football and you get to keep all those $$$ all to yourselves. BE has a shot at 7 schools out of 10 dancing this year. So yes, I'm glad we are not playing Southeastern Carolina and its 300 RPI in front of 75 fans on espn3.

You don't get Yes? You need to change to directv. That game is 8 channels on my set.

I do not get YES.

Also, I am not a PC fan so I do not need to get Directv to find my team play.

Wait! Three? That's less than four, isn't it?

I thought being stuck in THE WURST CONFERENCE EVAR as opposed to ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY BIG EAST would prevent such a thing from occuring!

FETCH ME MY FAINTING COUCH!

Its going to take a while before Fox College Hoops picks up better ratings. ESPN is ingrained on the average sports fans' mind and its going to take a lot of work and good programming to convince people to watch Fox Sports 1. Big East alone is clearly not enough. Its hard to compete against the ESPN, ABCs, and CBSs of the World. They got some good contracts coming up their way (FIFA and MLS Soccer) but they need more.

Competition is good, and we are the winners in all of this. I think having more role players in CBB than ESPN/Disney is good for the sport

It seems like a bucket of warm piss is something you should really be trying to get rid of, so I think you should make that trade, even if our season isn't so great thus far. Even someone offering to just take the bucket of warm piss without giving you anything in return seems like a great deal for you. Why do you have these buckets of warm piss? Is it like a hoarders situation?
