Sean and Friar J have no right to be making fun of any program in the AAC let alone schools with better basketball tradition (half the league), or schools with 10 times the fan base like ECU. What don't you guys understand about having "the lowest audience EVER for college basketball on broadcast television?" No one in America cares about your crap program so stop posting here.

It's comedic that our women's team probably drew about 100x the viewing audience of a mens Big East team.

Seriously?

We win the National Championship & lose 4 solid guys. Including (all due respect to McDermott) the most clutch & valuable player in College Hoop ... And you're saying we should feel bad for this season? We've won 4 in 16. There's a whole NBE league that would be backflipping for a FF slot.

We are developing OUR next National Champion. We can legitimately say that. You ... and your ilk ... would be laughed at for that kind of statement.

Keep taking pot shots at the NBE. 4 teams ranked higher than the top AAC team in the RPI. You better keep that solid ooc schedule; bc the opportunity for quality opponents ends when the conference slate starts.

Nbe is ranked 2; AAC is 9.

This is an awkward thread because I think these guys think they are on the women's board? They can't possibly still be here thinking they have a men's program which could even be int he same discussion with ours can they? I mean how embarrassed do you need to get before you actually just stay away for a while. You're here guys, the UConn board we're not over there with Richard C and crew wondering when the next Jimmy Walker or Ernie D is coming to PC. We could care less, get it, don't care who you are or what league you play in. You are Not national - you are URI, UMass, Bryant - not UConn. Now please go crochet a hat for Ed Cooley will ya.

You still here? Why, seriously just why?

you guys are the basketball version of the girl who leaves her husband and then continues to obsess about him. The NBE is fine without UConn. I'm sure you are fine with your new rivalries with East Carolina, Tulane and Central Florida. Move along.
Speaking of "move along", didn't you say a couple years ago that if UConn went back to kicking ass in 2014 you would stay off the boneyard for a year?
Maybe you should honor your word.

He's not just a fan Vike he went to PC. He believes it's been a year when January 1 hits.

I would pull up the thread where he said it but I don't want people to think Niels Giffey is back with the team and just fractured his finger again.

Maybe it is not the quality of the opponents. Perhaps people are just getting short on bandwidth. Too much noise ‘out there’.

I love going into Gampel and looking up at all those banners listing our conference RPI over the years. So many memories.

I like the 2011 banner celebrating that the OBE got 11 teams in the tournament. Because that's what I think we all remember most from that season - the record 11 teams. What a great conference. So happy to be a part of such shared excellence.

you would know

Know what I find funny FriarJ? That people on the Providence board are defending their horrible rating because it was the day BEFORE the Superbowl:

We played SJU at noon on the day before the SuperBowl. Each supermarket I shopped at was mobbed. It was a time when you had to decide what was most important, i.e. getting food and booze for the big game.

Our SJU/NYS game just had unfortunate timing.

But are making fun of UConn drawing in TEXAS, a few hours before the Superbowl started. I still think UConns game wasn't the worst rated in history however.

@FriarJ Has a point, if the BE (C7) played D1 football, UConn would likely be in that group.

@seanmc94 I'd wait until the year ends before bragging about this year, I assumed PC was having a great year by how you were bragging, and looked it up. losses to Brown and BC? Really? Wait and see before bragging, Jeesh.

I guess we'll find out in a month or so how good our conferences really are. The NBE certainly has the perfect profile to exploit the flaws in the RPI formula. It will be interesting to see if those teams can win games when it counts.

Just because ZLS is a UConn fan and the Providence interloper is not, does not mean we have to jump off the same silly bridge ZLS jumps off every time one of these threads pops up. We are in a southern mid-major conference with a bunch of schools no casual UConn fan cares about and we make less than 50% on our conference TV contract (despite having a football program) than PC makes on its conference TV contract. Arguing that we are better off playing USF and UCF and Tulane instead of northern schools that we played for over 30 years that have Final Four banners is a silly argument every time ZLS makes it.

The only reason that the American is not CUSA when it comes to basketball is UConn, and this awful league is dragging us down while ZLS blows kisses in every thread to the network that got us here.

playing in gyms with 7k capacities. atleast in the big east we can fill msg, the wells fargo center, and verizon center. i don't think even the most loyal uconn supporter thought the aac would be this bad, this quick.

Cool, so you really excited to play DePaul, Creighton, and Marquette.

Stop acting like the NBE is something special, outside of Nova and Gtown it is a bunch has beens or never was.

They had the worse winning % in the tournament last year for multi bid league. This year they have no teams outside Nova who can win more than a game.

Both conferences suck and anyone with a brain wants no part of either of them.

Will Low Big East TV Ratings Scare The Big Ten Away From Fox Sports 1?

>>What really has to concern the Big Ten (and, from its own perspective, FS1) is that Big East basketball has been good this season. When Buzz Williams shocked a lot of people in the college basketball community and bolted from Marquette — a team he guided to the 2013 Elite Eight and the 2011 Sweet 16 — in order to take over a moribund Virginia Tech program, it seemed that the Big East was on its way down. Marquette certainly finds itself in rebuilding mode.

However, counterbalancing the tumble of the Golden Eagles, we’ve seen Butler rise back to national prominence under fill-in coach Chris Holtmann. We’ve seen Georgetown improve to the point that it will probably make the NCAA tournament after missing out on the Dance last year. (The Hoyas are not a lock, but they’re still better.) Providence has remained steady despite the departure of spectacular point guard Bryce Cotton. Xavier is still in the NCAA tournament hunt. Seton Hall has injected new life into the league, chasing a Dance card after several immensely frustrating seasons. Villanova is on track to once again get a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament, matching what it did a year ago.

The Big East has exceeded the expectations of many. This has been a forward-moving year for the league on the court.

That FS1 and original FOX haven’t seen positive ratings — this, with Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery as part of their team and Tim Brando now in the fold as a strong contributor — should be concerning.

Yet, this might not be a FOX problem so much as a Big East issue:

No Syracuse, no Connecticut, no Louisville, no Notre Dame, no West Virginia, no Pittsburgh — the Big East had 11 NCAA tournament teams in 2011, so even though this year is a good year within the league’s readjusted set of expectations, the conference doesn’t feel the same. Viewers don’t seem to feel the same as well.<<
