Haley Jones was at the Oregon game with her head coach from her Cal Stars club team. He posted a picture of the two of them plus SI after the game on the Cal.Stars Instagram account.

She also just started following Kelly Graves’ son on Instagram.

First of all, you have no idea how the reporter knows.
Second of all, coaches are not allowed to comment publicly on players. But they can and do have on-background discussions with reporters on who they are recruiting.

It happens in every sport.

Veteran LV beat writer Dan Fleser pulled the trigger too early on this one. He may have assumed she announced her decision. He's a pro so this was just a mistake on his part.

Wait, you mean someone on this board falsely accused the coach of wrong doing?

As I was saying ...

And I would add that a player should not have much of a gap between when she reveals it privately to revealing it publicly. The chance that it will come out, inadvertently or not, is too great.

Must be Dalayah Daniels?

I have no idea which AAU team various recruits play for. I don't think Van Lith has ever shown any interest in UW so I'd be shocked if it was her. I didn't think Daniels listed UW among her choices either. It's certainly an intriguing rumor, with enough clues that somebody who knows more than I do could probably figure it out.

But there are other clues in the note!
The fact that she was being pursued by Louisville means that she could be .... anybody.

:p

Jayda Noble

Yeah, the OP in that thread spilled the beans eventually. I'm not familiar with her but the OP is high on her as a prospect. They definitely need a PG in the future. Getting a foot in the door w/ that AAU program might be a bigger deal than this particular prospect.

No. We had six recruits on campus, but two of them had already committed (Key & Saunders). Of the others, only Horston committed. Tennessee is likely done for 2019. Endiya Rogers is very likely going to Southern Cal. Tennessee wanted a class of four, and will look at JUCO if need be i.e. Natasha Mack.

Rogers announced her commit to Southern Cal today.

Interesting. Wasn't on her original consideration list

Arkansas Razorbacks, Missouri Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas Longhorns, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Kansas Jayhawks, SMU Mustangs

Clearly extending her horizons.
That actually confused me a little bit because she posted a twitter picture that had about 20 or so plus team’s logos after her consideration list. Oregon State offered her a long time ago so my guess is that list is only part of what she is actually considering, and that there are no finalists yet.

+ an offer from UCLA yesterday.

Rumor in Corvallis that Sasha Goforth (2020 from Arkansas) is making an "unofficial" visit to Oregon State University this weekend. 6' 0" lanky, smooth, prototypical OSU guard/wing.

sasha-goforth
I would say she’s the real deal, I always thought she would be a good fit at Uconn.

I'll be at the OSU game this weekend. I'll look for her in the OSU Family/Guest seats behind the OSU Bench. If she is making an "unofficial" visit, all the way across the country, that is a great sign for OSU Beavers. Our 2019 recruits are from Kansas and Texas, why not Arkansas?

.-.
Some Oregon news: Maddie Scher (#25 in 2020 HoopGurlz) was In Eugene for an unofficial visit the weekend before last and Kylee Watson (#20 in 2020) and Lucy Cochrane (6'6" Australian) were here last weekend along with Haley Jones. I believe that Caitlin Clark (#4) was here for an unofficial in mid-October. Graves is also supposed to be pursuing Emily Bessoir (6'4" SF on the German national team), who is, according to one blog, the #1 international prospect for 2020 and "UCONN good." (His words, not mine.)

Since Tennessee keeps raiding Oregon, why not turn the tables and pull some talent out of SEC (and Big 12) country?!

I saw that reference to Bessoir being "UConn good" several months ago. I watched her play some in the U18 European championships. She played okay but she's young and needs to get a lot stronger. She averaged 7 points and 8+ rebounds during the event which Germany won.

She is young. I believe she was the youngest player in the tournament and two years younger than many of her German teammates.

Nice skill set worth keeping an eye on.

And apparently playing out of position as well. She and the younger Sabally were teammates.

as somebody that claims to have a pretty decent knowledge of NJ WBB, I'm embarrassed to say I know very little about Baines.............I've heard of her but never seen her at a camp or game...........Patrick on the other hand is a well know commodity around here...........she's solid........... can do a bit of everything and is pretty athletic...........I think you will enjoy watching her play

Solid class, but not great... Do you think recruiting under McCallie is declining, or was this just an off year?
