They actually have a pretty solid recruiting class that year. I think this makes 3 top 50 kids coming in next year. They also have Crooms coming in this year. Lots of talent.
And that means what?

And that means what?

I’m not sure what you are confused about in my post. Lol. Seems pretty straight forward.

Well, specifically it means this:

From Raoul:
WBB: Kierstan Bell, 6-1 G, Canton McKinley HS (OH), has announced her commitment to Ohio State; she's ranked #5 in the 2019 by espnW. OSU also has 2019 commits from #24 Rikki Harris and #46 Jacy Sheldon

- Rikki Harris
is a 5'9" lead guard from Indiana
- Jay Sheldon is a 5'10" combo guard from Ohio

Bell is a big, strong, overpowering guard who can - and probably will - fill a wing/small forward role.

Ohio State will still have a lot of roster spots to fill in 2019, but these three are certainly a solid start.

What if OSU also picked up Horston, Cooke, and Jackson:D What a class that would be. On the other hand, Aijha Blackwell is listing her finalists tonight at 9PM (CDT). Previously had a final 12 of: DePaul, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Rutgers, St. Louis Univ., and Texas. I would assume she’s narrowing to 5-7 schools

Well, Bell said on camera that Ohio State was her favorite, so her commitment isn't exactly a surprise... but THIS would send shockwaves through WCBB in my opinion.

Maybe a shockwave in the sense that a lot of talented players aren't going to go to other schools. But McGuff is not an elite coach. That class would probably underachieve. It would be a a shockwave initalially, and probably fizz out by the time they are seniors. Kind of like the 2014 UCLA class.

Hence my reply "And that means what'? I don't believe it matters how many top recruits tOS signs if they are coached the same way the Mitchell team was coached. I also believe they will underachieve.

Yes, it was very clear. I was not confused. It was meant to indicate that no matter who McGuff signed, unless he starts teaching his team how to properly play defense, it won't matter how many top recruits he signs, they won't be a factor nationally, imo.

I'm sure there are more than a few "wink, winks" on this one ;), but from a practicality standpoint I can't see it because Bell, Horston and Jackson all are kind of the take-charge wing.
Maybe McGuff could convince Bell and one of the others (Horston, Jackson) to play together in the same way that Horston and Jones did for the U.S. National Team, but for some reason, I can't quite envision it...

I am not sure there would be enough balls on the floor for Bell and Zia Cooke to be together on the same team.

Ahhhh well that’s good to know that you weren’t confused.

Boston has Ohio St in her final 4 also.

Ohio State NEEDS a big class in terms of both numbers and quality or else they are in big trouble. So far, so good but they need a few more just for the sake of filling out a roster.

There was significant G/W talent in the state of Ohio for the Class of 2018 (Horston, Bell, Cooke,& Puisus). Don't see Kevin landing anymore than Bell from in state.

So does Amihere.

OSU's roster breakdown for the upcoming season 2018-2019

5 graduate transfers
1 senior
1 junior
3 incoming freshmen
2 walk-ons

2019-20 so far

1 senior
3 sophomores
3 freshmen

lots of room left for 2019-2020

The two biggest schools off Blackwell's lists are Texas and Notre Dame.

Based off my sleuthing, I never got the sense ND was a serious contender. Was hoping to be wrong because she looks like a very good player but not surprised.

I think she is ticketed for Louisville, most likely.

My guess it is likely down to Mizzou, Miss St., and Louisville. Mizzou already has two very talented wings in ‘18 and ‘19 (Hayley Frank was the Missouri GPOY over Aijha). Clearly they would make room for such a highly touted in-state prospect and she is likely better than those two. Mississippi State is down to one open scholarship. I say Louisville too.

I hope she stays home; St. Louis or Mizzou.

Blackwell's family comes to all her games so I would not be surprised if she stays close to home.
