NBA formalizing deals with Disney, Amazon, NBC
The NBA is formalizing written contracts with Disney, NBC and Amazon this week, the final stage of media rights negotiations that may inevitably lead incumbent Warner Bros. Discovery to take legal action.www.sportsbusinessjournal.com
With TNT no longer having NBA games, maybe they'll want to pick up some regular season CBB games with Big East?
That show is supportive of my theory that the New Big East is mainly about nostalgia. They spend more than half the show talking about games and players from schools who have not been in the league for at least 10 years. The last one I heard they were discussing the 2006(?) Pitt-Syracuse championship game. Another night they did Louisville-Syracuse. They spend more time on former players from those schools too. Maybe focus on the current membership just a little. Of course, if they did that they could only discuss UConn and Villanova. Nobody else has accomplished much."Inside the Big East"?
Regarding the Big East/Fox's promotion of "nostalgia": is it any or different from ACC (ESPN) promoting Duke v NC and NC v NC State as the "tobacco road" league, when the reality is that the ACC is light years removed from that era of the conference? Fair or not, the reason why the nostalgia angle is promoted is because a certain segment of the fans (largely the casual ones) will tune in for it.That show is supportive of my theory that the New Big East is mainly about nostalgia. I get what you’re saying but it is different in that Duke, UNC and State still play each other every year and UNC-Duke is still a significant game, and all are still part of the admittedly expanded ACC. PITT and Syracuse have been gone from the Big East for 10 years. And stabbed the league in the back on the way out. It is just weird to celebrate them.Regarding the Big East/Fox's promotion of "nostalgia": is it any or different from ACC (ESPN) promoting Duke v NC and NC v NC State as the "tobacco road" league, when the reality is that the ACC is light years removed from that era of the conference? They're under die hards but hard to see.
Which seems fair since that program has been dying a hard death for a while now. They're under die hards but hard to see.
The simple answer to this question: No.Wonder if Stanford/Cal would join this conference if it came to fruition? SMU would prefer to remain in the eastern/central time zone with their conference affiliation.
Probably. Definitely non-key.This rumor is made up by the guy who posted it lol
Not legitimate at all lolLot of smoke about ACC going to 20 and no mention of UConn…. SDSU, USF, even Memphis are mentioned.
That seems to give this some legitimacy no?
About as legit as UConn being a guaranteed addition to the big 12 last summer. We miss you GoKULot of smoke about ACC going to 20 and no mention of UConn…. SDSU, USF, even Memphis are mentioned.

There is some mention of UCONN, but none of these people appear to have any real insider information.Lot of smoke about ACC going to 20 and no mention of UConn…. SDSU, USF, even Memphis are mentioned.

FWIW- there’s two “clauses” new members were supposed to sign upon invitation to the Big 12, a GOR until 2031 and a 99 year “commitment” document/contract.I have no doubt that the ACC would jump to take Utah, but I don’t know how much sense it makes for Utah. First, I am quite sure Utah is has signed whatever GOR exists for the Big 12 as a condition of joining the Big 12.
Weiss is a good guy, but he’s never been immune to posting some weird stuff on Twitter. He also has the absolute worst toupe in sports media. I am not sure what that has to do with anything, but seriously, you have to see it. It’s amazing. It’s red.
They didn't sign it, their coach was all over saying this right after they announced for the Big12. Apparently, someone here they have until August to sign it. What happens after that? They get kicked out? I don't know, but it has to be the reason this rumors kicked off.I have no doubt that the ACC would jump to take Utah, but I don’t know how much sense it makes for Utah. I was thinking Marv Albert but what Marv has is closer to a full wig so yeah, Weiss wins.Weiss is a good guy, but he’s never been immune to posting some weird stuff on Twitter.
