Exactly. It should be very obvious to everyone now that big media wants to shed the weak from the strong (hence the gutting of the PAC in a 12 month window after the departure of USC/UCLA. The ACC is next to be gutted to leave behind BC, Wake, etc.The ACC has a similar problem to the big east in that its media partner has a vested interest in weakening it. Essentially they can lowball offer and say take it or leave it.
The ACC has another more critical problem, however, in that that members see they have dramatically more lucrative opportunities outside the conference and are publicly talking about their desire to leave. To be honest, I will be surprised if their current membership stays intact all the way through 2036. From 2030 on, they're vulnerable and will become more vulnerable with each passing year.
Still, they're in a better position than we are.
That said, we have to take either a Big12 (as long as it includes at least a FB scheduling component) or an ACC offer (all sports) in order to show off an improved football program.
