I disagree with the last assertion. They've been too successful to get left out in a new alignment. And they're allowing just about everything for enrolled athletes in terms of NIL, so it's not like they're just sitting out of the new world.

If you aren't willing to engage in money with recruits, the new division that will happen will not be the right mindset. It will be like-minded universities and that will require money for high school and portal recruits.

People always ask if all Big Ten schools will make it to th eventual split for the new division. The answer is NO. And it's going to be a NO for more than people realize. Same with Pac 12. And, no, the Boise State and UAB's of the world will not be in the new divison.

With the new division that is coming, you will need to have the mindset in leadership to have a Oregon Ducks Athletics, Inc, Nebraska Cornhuskers Athletics, Inc., etc. That WILL include money going to recruits at the high school and portal, and not just football.

The following universities are the only ones with a 100% lock to the eventual new division: AL, LSU, TN, UGA, FL, UT, OU, Aub., Ark, Ole Miss, A&M, UNL, MI, OSU, PSU, MSU, Miami, USC, Oreg. And, no Notre Dame is NOT a lock. There's a ton of academic elites that will say no.

For the elite academic schools, there's going to be a lot of clash happen between what they want the university mission to be and they will sit this out (students/athletics can still get paid obviously). Vandy, UNC, Duke, Stanford, Cal, and the like are highly likely to say no.

Nope. In fact, I’d say you are a member of the vast majority. That’s why the above proposal will never happen. The second you nakedly make college teams de facto semi pro teams, they lose their brand value. Which isn’t to say that there won’t be more incremental creep over time.

The B1G is so solidified as a conference I don't think it would split regardless of what else happens. I suppose there is no reason the academic and athletic sides have to be one.

These so called super elites of 30 to 40 will do alright for a few years. But the majority of people who no longer have a vested interest will tune out.
This semi pro group will lose TV and streaming dollars. The true pros are better, and will get the money.
Some people will go bankrupt, and for some schools it will be to late to go back.

If there is demand for 30-40 college teams to become semi-professional, then the NFL is leaving money on the table. They should expand and play on Fridays and Saturdays. Now, I’m not sure this is the case, but Mondays and Thursdays have been good to the NFL product.

The dollar value of the contract is expected to be $1.2 Billion. The latest on how many protected rivalries for no divisions is 4. I know I've said 2 before, but this just puts 2 on top 2. Changes nothing, really. Amazon will not be in the TV contract.

With the Big Ten TV contract highly likely to be FOX 11amCT, CBS 230 pm CT, FS1 weekly game, NBC 630ct, BTN game, that is 5 out of 7 weekly conference games. Like I said the other day, there simply isn't enough content to cover FOX, CBS, NBC, FS1, BTN with 14 schools.

and you also have NBC's Peacock streaming a weekly game. With the Pac 12 TV valued expected to be half of the Big Ten, FOX will be sending Washington, Oregon, USC, UCLA (maybe others) to the Big Ten. Not a complete merger, but pretty damn close.

If the miles between USC, Oregon, Washington, +1 vs the rest of Big Ten schools is too much to overcome for PAC schools to involve their revenue generating Basketball programs in joining the Big Ten than B1G expansion with Pacific Coast schools will not happen.

Big Ten might become national conference with addition of 2-4 top PAC brands, but it won’t be a conference with more schools in West than Eastern Timezone. It’s just not where the value is and it’s not what Ohio St, Michigan would care to do.
