Kofi having second thoughts?

No, it was about how many games a former player started, not played; in response to his college career being besmirched. I would think a recruit would be impressed with a fan base that will still have their back in 30 years.
No....Originally it was how many games he started in his sophmore year (his third year at UConn) after coming back from the shoulder injury. That year he started ZERO times. Averaged, IIRC two points and change per game, and no one's besmirching anyone only correcting erroneous statements by you! You said he was a starter as sophomore which I think is wrong, he did start as a freshman before he got hurt.

His recruitment was essentially over after the Illinois visit, no? If he de-commits, I imagine it's because he decided he wants to go somewhere else.

We should be focusing on Mitchell/Wahab and others. If Kofi de-commits, I imagine it'll be a quick commitment to the place he wants to go. If we have a Mitchell or Wahab by then, oh well. If not, I'm sure the staff will welcome him in.

My position is that I would rather have Wahab, for a number of reasons. Mainly that he is just a much better system fit.

You would think that in a rebuild, continuity will help tremendously. I don’t think Kofi plans on being in college longer than 2 years. I get that we want the most talented roster possible, but I’d like some good 4-year players

Rumor from my sources in NYC. Kofi wanted the good guys, those around him wanted Illinois. Kofi is planning in enrolling for a summer class at Illinois, changing his mind and then attempting to get a waiver to play immediately..... heard it here first everybody
Really??? You heard this?

Well, since he hasn't actually signed with Illinois. It would be a lot simpler to just back out of his verbal and choose the good guys.

One thing that our teams have lacked the last few years is maturity. Coachablity and maturity go hand in hand. Read between the lines.

Problem is we need 2 and done talent at the center spot next year. Yard won't have the patience.

So Chief opens a thread on recruiting a center target and it morphs into how many games Steve Pickel played his sophomore year, thirty years ago. Chief admits you can learn a lot about UConn basketball history. But, doesn’t aid the 2019 recruiting grind.
However , that’s the BY.

The casual fans are all afraid of saying anything about recruiting that might upset you or your handlers................

Rob, you called him a bench warmer. He wasn't. I originally got my years mixed up, but he was a starter as a freshman and a senior.

Is it within the realm of possibility that Kofi’s “advisors” are telling the Illini “he hasn’t signed a LOI yet, others are still calling” to leverage additional party favors? Maybe they’re just playing the game to maximize the return.

Would have been easier if Sid just made the right decision in the first place. ... cost him a year.

But in the end, it worked out for the best right? Playing last year would have been a wasted year. Now he, and UConn, get a more mature version and possibly for four years under Hurley.

Never used the derogatory phrase "bench warmer", those are your words, you show me where I used those words. I said he "rode the bench" his last three years after his injury. Then you chimed in saying he was a starter as a sophomore, which I took issue with. It's possible he may have started a game as a senior, then sat down. Calhoun used to do things like that for the seniors.

Based on that Tweet exchange about handlers it would seem we're out of the picture, and Pitt may be too, with Georgetown the likely landing place due to somebody being enraptured by Ewing's size and reputation...........as a player.
Just seems the decision makers or those of influence are focusing on Govan leaving without taking into account whose already there and how many other bigs are coming this year.

Careful. He has a mentor, not a handler.

OK I agree, he rode the bench during the two years he didn't start.

People really need to stop using the term “handlers”
Definitely not a term that should be used on open social media platforms by quasi school representatives, like the official twitter account of the 247 Pitt board.

Chief,

I've been a harsh critic. I mean I really hate your guts.

If this happens I will do a 180 and sing your praises.

Krinkle - Thanks for all the insight and behind-the-scenes intel that you bring to the board. The Boneyard couldn't exist without your daily contributions.

While I get the sentiment, that's kinda like talking ourselves into lesser players.

One thing Kofi would do is dramatically increase our toughness inside from day 1. Something we utterly lack/desperately need.

OK I agree, he rode the bench during the two years he didn't start.
He rode the bench for the most part his senior year too, but Calhoun and HowieD liked him so I can see him getting a couple honorary starts which Calhoun did with most of the seniors.

I do not have to look this up. He had an uneventful Freshman year IIR, but had something like 20 in the BE Tournament game against BC. That turned out to be the best game of his career. I remember when I saw the box score I was shocked but thought wow, can't wait till next year. For some reason I think that was the year when Cliff and maybe Gamble were suspended.
