The Atlantic Coast Conference generated $711 million for the 2023-24 academic year, according to new tax documents released by the league, distributing an average of $45 million to each of its 14 full-time member schools, a record for the conference.

In February, the SEC distributed $808 million to its membership for the 2023-24 year, averaging about $53 million per school.

Starting in the 2025-26 year, all 16 schools will receive a full, equal share, with total revenue from the new media deal expected to reach around $50 million per school annually".

In addition, the ACC by going to an unequal revenue share model is going to substantially reduce the monies going to schools not named FSU, Clemson, NC, etc thereby putting even more pressure on the likes of Louisville, NC State, VA Tech, etc to look at alternatives now so as to find greener pastures leading up to 2031. The analysis has already been done and now the posturing/networking/informal discussions phase has been entered. What the public sees and hears about is usually a year or more behind what is transpiring behind closed doors.

don't understand how people make comments like this. The ACC and Big 12 TV ratings are very close (Big 12 higher, but how much is the Sander effect?) and the difference in the media revenues is primarily the ACCN which we don't know how the network will perform as more people stream sports.

Agreed. I've looked at the actual data on ACC vs Big12 viewership and while I understand many people thinking bigger/east coast ACC markets would deliver more viewership and value to the ACC vs the smaller metro area Big12 markets, once you take out FSU, Clemson and whatever next two you want (i.e. the 4 most likely SEC/Big10 candidates), the Big12 carries more water. It just does. And with the ACC already having its own network and the Big12 not, there is more upside in the Big12. It might defy logic or emotions on here, but it's just the cold hard facts. Then, add to those facts that Yormark is a more astute and aggressive leader than Phillips and that the ACC is a band of unlike schools as opposed to the Big12 schools being more like minded, it adds up to the Big12 being more likely to prevail over the remnant occupied ACC.

UNC is the only school that likely has a landing spot.

Enjoy UConn now. Things will stay like this for another 5 years of so. Support the teams. Support the school. Stop wishin' and hopin'. ACC and Big 12 will sit tight for now, it seems. ACC has made their stance clear more than a decade ago and has not even given UConn a second look. Big 12 jerked UConn around a couple times lately, which is unforgivable. The underlying evil remains ESPN and no one in Ct has the guts to stand up to them. They control the purse strings and u ltimately make the decisions on conference realignment.

To me, there are a few ways the next round of expansion could go. The SEC and B1G could both end up with 20 schools or one could end up with 18 while the other has 20. Let's discuss the latter scenario

B1G drives a wedge in to SEC and ACC territory- UVA, UNC, GT and Miami. They can skip a stone across South Carolina.

That is my take too. At one time the Bug care about academic fit, but I think they would not take a highly rated academic institution that was not also a solid athletic one. And they would draw the line at a Louisville I suspect. But leaving Cal and Stanford indicates they aren’t taking Virginia.

Maybe FSU to the B1G but I would think SEC...

FSU is ranked by USNWR National Universities higher than Minnesota, Michigan State, Penn State, Indiana, Iowa...AAU is a club where the members vote you in and FSU probably isn't high on their list....But FSU has been aiming for AAU...has doubled their number of National Academy members in the last two years and is expanding medical research and building a new hospital...Maybe not AAU invited but a decent academic school. But to most fans, the SEC seems right

Clemson’s biggest appeal to a P2 is as a plus one for someone more desirable and only exists if they are a consistent 10+ win team. If they go through a cycle of being good but not great (as they’ve been prone to do) their attraction to either the SEC or Big Ten goes from low to none.

Hmmm, that would put them in the same boat as us...now if only someone in Clemson had the ability to critically think, see the forest for the trees, and decide to make their conference better by inviting (or at least not exercise their veto against) a high standard and better rated school with excellence in sports that would significantly complement their conference...then again, I'm a pragmatist and don't expect them or their conference to ever do anything that could positively impact us.

it really would be amazing if Clemson were ultimately left out of the cartel. The P2 would each want to go to say 24 at least in order for the Big 10 to want to march down the entire Atlantic Coast

Clemson is still very sore about UConn, probably still trying to figure out how they missed that Scott Burrell was a major league caliber pitcher

The Big 10 was interested in Stanford/Cal, but FOX was not. Oregon and Washington got an invite because they accepted half media shares.

So Why would Fox/ESPN think UVA is more valuable than Cal or Stanford? Or any other ACC school for that matter? Historically UVA probably has the worst football program in the conference.
