Big 10 is at 18. SEC is at 16. I don't see how the SEC has any reason to have any agreement with the Big 10. Whether it stays at 16 or wants to add 2, 4, 6, 8. I'm pretty sure the SEC can do whatever it wants without having to play patty cake with the Big 10.

I can see it being more efficient to say hey we'll take this region you take that region. That way they don't end up in in bidding wars or reading each other. I'm not saying that's what's going on, but I've yet to see the Big Ten and SEC overlap each other or compete for a school.

I would have believed this fully until I saw BB's behavior during spring practice.

He allowed distractions that never would have been possible at any time he was coaching in the NFL. I really don't see him as being committed at the level needed to get where UNC thought they were headed when they hired him.

They will need to be exceptionally stealthy about this as the one thing that would damage the P-2 would be getting caught in collusion.

Idk - he’s 73, has a system. As long as he hires the right people to run the ops and sits as a key figure in recruiting and decision making, it may be enough. Bar is low at UNC and his name alone will attract talent. Not a college FB fan but I’ll be tuning in for UNC.

I wouldn't say exceptionally stealthy, I would say reasonably stealthy. (Is collusion a crime?)

As the saying goes, "if you have to ask, you can't afford it". The BIG is an ideal but wholly unrealistic dream. UConn should still try to attain AAU status if possible (and may need to play nice with BIG schools to that effect), but we will never be on the BIG's radar unless one of our teams beats one of theirs in a tournament...ah, that's right, it already happened, then we dropped off their radar. Our path to survival does not involve the BIG as savior.

And the way Virginia Tech got in the ACC ahead of Syracuse.

Virginia is a very large fan base. It is also precisely the kind of flagship state university that the BIG covets.

Heck, they were anxious to grab Rutgers based upon that and nothing else.

Anyway, consider that, with a veinous infusion of BIG or SEC $ just what that program could become.

Even if it is only the top end of the bottom third in football, that is still a welcome addition to either/both of those conferences.

Chicken or the egg a bit too - they will become a better program when in the B10 in all likelihood. Let’s not forget the DC market.

I wouldn't say Virginia has a large fan base. They're in a large, important market. And they have other important credentials.

Welp, Indiana and Illinois finished 2nd and 5th in the Big Ten and there are plenty of programs out there better than those 2. The SEC seems more difficult to crack

To be fair, I'd have to say Rutgers improved a great deal. 7-5 and 4-5 in the Big Ten is not bad. Wins over Washington, Minnesota, Maryland, Michigan State. Ruttie won't be winning championships but finishing in the top half of a P2 conference is pretty decent. We UConn fans believe without a doubt that stepping up a league will bring improvement. 100%

sec prob has their pick of the litter and theyd certainly take any of FSU, Miami, Clemson, or UNC before they invited UVA.
