Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

I like the idea of Memphis to the BE. The problem is that its a boost to one of our few competitors for P4 ascension. Therefore, I think Memphis is the BE ticket when UConn leaves. There really is no other school the BE could add post UConn to give it some juice.

That’s because there is none.

We get Memphis and less money. That’s the pitch.
It would have to be pro rata and a 30 million exit fee or no deal.

I don't see the Big East being interested in Memphis at all. BE is a conference of Catholic/private basketball schools. UConn is in because it was a founding member of the original BE conference and has basketball rivalries and is a basketball blue blood. Perhaps another flagship basketball school or former member of the Big East. Memphis is neither private nor former BE nor flagship nor blueblood. And as has been stated, I don't want to do anything that helps another G6 program unless UConn benefits bigly. I wouldn't mind UConn Football in AAC long-term parking with USF, Army, Navy, Temple, Memphis, etc.

Memphis doesn't move the needle for me. And, I don't want to get rid of the round robin BE format. To enhance the BE media contract, I would advise the BE schools to schedule marquis OOC games that media buyers want similar to what UConn is doing for this year.

Keep the round robin. Eliminate DePaul from the schedule.

Give DePaul the Milton treatment from Office Space. Just remove them from the schedule.

And it has a history of playing loose with the rules*. Doesnt seem like a cultural fit with the existing members.

*Are there any rules anymore?

Well this would definitely be the time to get out of the American. What next? Get Klivakoff or Larry Scott to advise on expansion/ media strategy?

Didn't the SEC bring in Tranghese about a decade ago to fix their basketball problems? Of course, it's easy to fix basketball in the SEC. Just give players more money, especially now that's it legal and on the up and up.

Worked admirably before… have to see if Mike has any magic left:

"You want to improve your conferences basketball stature? Bring in the university of Connecticut as a full member. You immediately add another championship, pedigree to the conference and have access to the northeast, including a considerable presence in NYC."

I dont get the appeal of Memphis for the BigE.
It gives UConn a partner for football, which might keep us in the conference for longer. If UConn leaves the BE, the BE is in a very bad position. Memphis also fits in with the basketball pedigree of the conference and would add strength there.
